Mitchell -

Might as well forgive me too. :)

I get really bent out of shape when things go south. I dunno, I’m used to winning. I know how winning feels, it feels good.

I mean, what was I thinking when I repeatedly said during the last week of Spring Training that the Braves were better than the Phillies and that I believed they could win the division and that every dumbass baseball pundit was wrong not to pick them to do so?

Yeah, that happens every year with every negative blogger. And then as soon as one little thing goes wrong everyone starts pissing and moaning like entitled rich chicks.

Ryan Howard is 6-for-27 (.222) against the Braves this season, with two RBIs

Wow. I’m seeing some unfavorable comments about our centerfielder Nate McLouth.

Why would anybody be critical about somebody hitting under .200?

Some people. I’ll never understand it.

Roy, I could see that happening a lot more easily than him benched, but I’d doubt it before Diaz and/or Schafer are MLB ready again.

There were thousands of empty grandstand seats at Indy yesterday. In the past, absolutely unheard-of to see even one. 40,000 should be considered a great crowd in the present economic climate. 40,000 might very well be the new sellout. I do think we’ll have some actual sellouts if we hang around first place as the season wears on. May be September before we see it with any regularity.

Groundfog, a fan wants what is best for the team and the players. You may disagree, but in my very humble opinion, moving him out of the bright lights and up the road to Gwinnett and letting him try to get things figured out is better for all involved. Its certainly better for him, and it appears better for the Braves.

I, and I think many others, like him, and want him to succeed. I just dont know what is going to be the trigger if he keeps trotting out there every day. I am sure he would be hurt by being sent down, which I why I think he should spend two or three weeks there. Long enough to get over it and try to get back to playing his game.

I’m going to guess that by the end of this season there are only one or two infields better than the Braves’. If only Heyward fit in there somewhere…

Just got on baseball-reference.com and found that the Braves have stopped what screwed them over in so many games against the Phils last year…Ryan Howard. He has gone 1-5 in numerous games, 0-3 in few…best game to date is a 2-4 game with an RBI. But they have really kept him under wraps this year

It will be interesting to see how Philly reacts to dropping out of first place and playing so badly. Will they get fired up and shake off this funk? Or, will they cry like whiney little b–ches and lose even more?

Meanwhile, terrible play in LF by the “defensive replacement.”

Just curious as I look for tickets, but are lots of people trying to make it to our last series of the season in Atlanta verse the Phillies? It’s October 1,2, and 3rd. Hopefully not, but maybe Bobby’s last game. Atleast his last regular season game. And that may be an important series.

Hobbs…

I agree it may be necessay. This is way more than just a slump. It’s mental, physical, everything. He seems to be getting worse. The bunt attempt last night was just a sign.

Like i’ve said before, I loved the trade last year but something has gone seriously wrong. It’s sad to see a guy completely lose it.

Great day for Tommy, love to see him settle down like that.

For those still hoping for Schafer, thus far he looks like McClouth at Gwinnett. He is only 13 games in there, but probably best to not rush him. He is having a rough start and needs some time to get on his feet.

Here’s what I think is going to happen with the outfield.

If Schafer is ready while Diaz is on the DL, he’ll get the call and Blanco will go down. If Schafer plays good defense and hits, Braves will probably try to trade Melky.

If Schafer proves that he is not a major league player, then he’ll go back down and the Braves will make do with what they’ve got.
