I know it’s still May, but let me be the first to say, WORST TO FIRST!!! Amazing the way the Braves (and Phillies) have flipped the division over the last few weeks.
keylargo……Venters is a homemade product from the braves…..he’s 25 years old…this dude is a ROOKIE…but….Billy is 38…with more than 15 years in the league….there is no point of comparison….
Great game! 1st place, and lots or upside to this team.
Still love to see them figure something out with Nate, and I will stick to what I have been saying when he was called up, and hope that Blanco gets a couple weeks to see if he can be the player the Braves thought he was two years ago.
anyone dismissing the value of a 20-8 month in the majors or any level of baseball is foolish, plain and simple. this is what the 2010 braves are and this is what the 2010 fills are (no bullpen and no bench) i’ve been telling everyone this since before spring training.

I can’t believe people are just sitting there with two outs.
That is so pathetic. If you’re wearing a Braves T-shirt and you’re sitting in your seat like a lazy bastard with two outs in the 9th, with first place on the line, you should banned from Turner Field for the rest of the season.
It’s kind of taking me out of the whole thing. First place… 20-8 in May… that’s incredible.
People just sitting there. That bums me out. The Braves really deserve better.
Hell, the freakin’ Beach Boys deserve better. Everybody’s leaving.
Wow…. just got home from the ‘burg to the good news that our boys are in 1st place! Unbelievable!… Look forward to seeing the Bravos tomorrow night… have to watch two games, b/c my sister-in-law in Houston is going to Nats/Astros tomorrow night.
Hopefully this game adds to the frustration of the Phillies and keeps our momentum going.
Really, the Phillies are struggling so badly. I thought they were going to pinch-hit Werth for Dobbs in the 7th (representing the tying-run on the plate). He could’ve tied the game with one swing of his bat. Instead, Castro pinch-hit and grounded out. Werth struck out 4 times yesterday… and has been struggling of late.
Mitchell – the Braves just completed an incredible 180 in the month of May, and you’re still going to find something to complain about? What are you going to say if we win the World Series?
heyward went 0-5 and we still scored 9 runs – thanx to that tremendous pen in filadelphia and lets not forget the run gload gave us – great pickup ruben.
At the game NO ONE working at Turner mentioned All Star voting. The ballots are just set up and hard to notice. Would be nice if ballots were passed out to fans coming in the gates and tell everyone to vote Braves.
Great win today. Nice to score some runs early and be in first place. Especially on a day where Tommy Hanson was terrible. That was hard to watch. Getting behind in the count, walking .130 hitters, giving up hits to pitchers. The defense behind him was stellar and really bailed him out a few times. Against a hot hitting Phillies team he might not have made it out of the third inning.
But I guess that is how baseball goes. Got some great D behind him, turned some DP’s and almost got out of the game without giving up any runs.
One of the DPs turned by Glaus was one of the best I’ve ever seen. He threw the ball on the money right over the runners shoulder to get the guy at second, and then retreated to first to get the out at first. Just amazing throw and play.
i can remember all 6 losses. last game of opening series, the no hitter, the dbacks middle game, one to the mets, and two to the phils. isnt that right?

Nice game! What a great way to take over the NL East lead.
Good pitching (especially from Venters, relieving Moylan), keeping Utley, Howard and Victorino away (1-11 combined).
Good hitting: 11 hits, 2 Hrs, 9 RBI.
Good timely hitting: Chipper’s 2-run HR in the 1st to set the tone, and Glaus’ insurance 3-run HR in the 7th.
Good defense: 2 DP turned and no errors.
FIRST PLACE TASTES GOOD!!!!
