There’s another Phil that stood in the box and admired his weak pop out. I’m used to players standing in the box when they hit a foul out. But that ball was in play, and Utley just stood there. Chipper should have let it drop (not really) and thrown Utley out.

“After one swing, I’d give Blanco the keys to CF for at least a month. McClouth is that bad right now.” ray k.

I agree with you. The Blanco haters will disagree. But for me it has to do with how BAD McLouth has been, rather than what Blanco can offer.

Very similar to swapping Church for Francoeur last year. Obviously (or maybe not), Jeff has more upside than Church, but he was so damn bad, that simply the addition by subtraction was enough to make a difference.

Simly getting McLouth out of the lineup and replacing him with somebody capable of hitting .250 (Blanco is a .245 career hitter), will be an improvement. How sad is that?

So all u dumasses think that they should have kept Hanson in after 110 pitches t hink i’m wrong?????????? Cause that’s J-Heys comment I was respondiong to

Well I don’t know about everybody else but I would not have minded if bobby would have kept him in for one more hitter given the work the bullpen has put in. And no I would not have bemoaned Bobby if Tommy too would have given up that run because I didn’t bemoan him yesterday when he left KK in because I understood what he was trying to do. Fact of the matter is these starters are doing good but we aren’t getting many complete games, I think we have one all year, so that hurts your bullpen. So many times the bullpen has to pick up the starters, doesn’t hurt every now and then to have the starters try to pick up the bullpen a little.

If they hold on to win this game, they will be 13-3 since Prado and Heyward have been inserted into the 1-2 spots in the order. Just imagine how big the lead in the NL East would be, had Bobby done it 2-3 weeks earlier?

N8,

I agree with your latter statement concerning Nate. He does cover quite a bit of ground in center and defends his position well. We can only hope his bat just starts to be average, not asking more than .250 average at this point with how other pieces in the line up are swinging right now.

I, too, was concerned about Chipper for the simple reason that he looked so un-Chipper like, so amateurish, on about 5 specific at bats a couple weeks ago, I was hearing the knell of the death bell to his career. His slugging% coupled with his on base% was meriting consideration to drop him to the 2 hole.

I don’t think he’s going to pull a George Brett and win the batting title, but I think his slugging% will go up, if slightly. What concerns me is the mental aspect of this game–the superstitious elements that can wreak havok on some players. I wouldn’t mess with the current batting order until the other shoe drops, so to speak. If Chipper has but 3 HR’s on July 1st, and the offense has cooled significantly, I’d say try it.

I love how I get taken to task for making a comment expressing my concern about Tommy’s difficulties early in the game with a three run lead in one of the most important games the Braves have played in five years and I get no breaks about anything else I post.

I said last week that if given a chance, Gregor Blanco was going to get a big hit for us. If Glaus had made an out there, Blanco’s double would have driven in the two runs. It’s worth pointing out that that was his first at-bat since he’s been up.

I am a Gregor Blanco fan for crying out loud! Who else on here has been as possitive and supportive of Blanco as I have over the last two years? If anything makes me a non-hater, it’s that.

As much as he is capable of “killing” a ball, he did with that swing. Might have been out in Philly.

I’d hate to be hasty with Nate and yank him prematurely, sit him/trade him (although I don’t see anyone picking up that, what is it, 10 mil thru next year?), but when the offense cools off–which, at some point, it will–his k’s and pop ups may become so glaringly debilitating to a team that will suddenly need to play small ball to manufacture runs, to have base runners via walk, or hard hit single–neither of which is his specialty.
