But seriously, Minor has been striking out quite a lot of batters this year. Although I have to imagine that would be something to expect from a polished college lefty from the SEC.

I want all of you to know if Nate had 9 more hits this year, he would be hitting over his career average. That’s right, one hit more every 4 games. Trade him? NO, IDIOTS, it’s not going to happen. I wish he were doing better, but he is the CFer and he’s going to continue to be. I’ll back him at .150, .250, or .350.

Efrim, I was glad to see Julio bumped to hi-A. Keep challenging the kid, he’s responded every time. I’m also really pleased with how Randall has thrown so far this season. Between he, Vizcaino and Teheran we could really have something nasty in a couple of years. And yeah, what’s up with Minor? High K’s and high BB totals? What is going on? Did the Braves change his approach or something? He’s a nice depth piece but you’re right, he’s not one of our top 4 pitching prospects.
And yeah, I agree, I wouldn’t give that kind of cash to Gonchar. He’s old and he seems to get hurt a lot, despite his obvious skill. But then again, you’re looking at who else? Anton Volchenkov? I like him a lot, don’t get me wrong, but he probably isnt the PP-quarterback that Gonchar is. He’s a better fit for a team like the Red Wings who need a more defensive-minded defenseman that can really hit. Actually, I think Volchenkov would be a great fit for the Caps.
Has there been any talk of expanding the salary cap for the upcoming season?

Steve, I read that Minor did some serious weight lifting in the offseason, and his hitting 95 on the gun this year. The guy gives up very few hits, and leads the entire minor leagues in strikeouts. You’re right, he’s not at the top right now, but if he can cut down on the walks (22 in 36 IP), he will be.

Mike, if that’s true, that’s great news. If he can add a plus fastball to his repertoire, then he can be a top-class pitching prospect with that great change. His lack of command had been puzzling to me, but if it’s because he’s adding velocity, that makes sense. Hopefully he gets it back, because if he’s throwing harder but missing his spots, that’s not really doing us any good. I’d call him no. 6 right now behind Teheran, Vizcaino, Delgado, Lopez and Kimbrel.
