I have never thought Chipper didn’t care. I just am puzzled as to what has happened to him.
Is he hurt? Did he get too old too fast? I don’t know.
At this point, I would prefer to see somebody else batting and playing the field, but you can’t get out of a slump on the bench.

You get no argument from me, he may very well be. That’s not my point… I’m just tired of people saying he doesn’t care after every out he makes. In the few times I’ve seen him (I live out of market and can’t afford X-Inn), I know how lethargic he looks after every out. I suppose people would rather see him do a bobby knight and helicopter the bat every time he gets an out, just to prove he cares, but I don’t think it’s necessary.

And anyone saying “Chipper doesn’t care” is a first class idiot. Chipper prides himself on being one of the best. If he didnt care if he sucked or not he wouldn’t be out there. This is his first game back from almost a week off. Give him a PA or 10 to get his timing down again, would ya? Or….just continue to sound really stupid. Whatever. Doesn’t matter to me.

I think you have to leave McLouth in. As futile as he is, he’s the fastest guy on the team and the best bet to avoid a double play, which would score Hinske from 3rd.

More HOF managing. Hinske and Infante are bench guys, according to Cox, yet they are the team’s best hitters. Infante should be leading off EVERY game, and Hinske will surely be benched tomorrow after this unCoxlike performance tonight.

I would love to see Bobby try Chipper in the 2 slot. He takes a lot of walks, so that would have him on base for Heyward, Mac and Glaus. Prado should lead off until somebody else starts to hit better.

Steve, I agree, they don’t have as much depth. I love players like Talbot, Adams, Dupuis and Cooke. Kunitz is overpaid. Fleury is a headcase, but he has that kind of Grant Fuhr/Chris Osgood thing to him….or at least I like to think that.
Not sure on Gonchar. To be honest, I don’t think they can afford to give him a 4 year 20 million dollar contract. They already have Orpik, Letang and Goligoski locked up though, which I like. But Gonchar is the key of the defense and Power Play, so we’ll see….
