ugaaccountant: I think Chip said on the TV that we selected Joey Devine just before Rasmus was taken.”

Ok, I like Joey Devine. Getting a major leaguer in the draft can never be graded below like a B. We rushed him. We knew it at the time and we did it anyway. Which is why I don’t want to see Kimbrell or Freeman until our team has stabilized itself and they are doing really well and consistent in AAA.

Joey was in line for a big breakout year in 2009 as a closer that was wiped out by injury.

So of all the ways to not get Rasmus, I can understand this one. But man would he look nice in CF!

“If The Braves Become Sellers:
you have to think the Braves would like the flexibility of ridding part of the three years and $45MM owed to Derek Lowe. Similarly, the Braves could free up cash by dealing Kenshin Kawakami, owed $13.33MM over 2010-11. What about Nate McLouth?”

“Billy Wagner would be an attractive trade candidate. Takashi Saito would be expendable”

“Other rentals include Troy Glaus, David Ross, and Eric Hinske”

some team would actually want to rent Glaus?

10 runs for the Cards so far…Pujols must be putting on a show

That would be the lone redeeming factor of the game, if Pujols was even in the line up.

Unfortunately the Braves are getting blasted by the b squad.

Rob from SC – I think that it was evident while the team was in New York.

Remember on Sunday’s ESPN game when the look Yunel gave towards the camera in the dugout…it really said a lot about the team’s care factor at that point…maybe it was the lack of offense, the rain, the losing streak but it was a disturbed by it.

He may also have been directing it towards Chipper who had a poor AB and was standing in the same line of the camera.

This team needs a break in the worst way…i thought the road trip may help…but not so much.

Short answer…at the moment it looks like they don’t give a sweet f&ck.

Confirmed — groin strain for Escobar (called a left adductor strain). Day to day. Like this team. And me after this trip. Although I must say, I just ate one of the finest BBQ smoked brisket sandwiches I can recall. Grilled right here by an old dude in a chef’s apron, and they called it an “Atlanta smoked brisket sandwich” because they have a battle-of-the-sandwiches concession where they have a local sandwich (today it was some Italian meat sandwich of some sort) against a so-called specialty of the opposing team’s city.

I know it’s statistically impossible for them to lose the rest of their games, but it sure “feels” like we are bucking the odds. If this keeps up, I hope instead of trying to find patches that Wren brings up whoever is close and just lets them play. TX has 3-4 of our prospects now who could be doing just as bad or better than what is happening now. Feel sorry for Cox though – shouldn’t have to go thru this in his last year. Hope the players get some intestinal fortitude (aka “pride”) and do whatever it takes to turn this around. And worse part, they have worse record than the Nats for goodness sake! Was looking forward to seeing Heyward in person next week but don’t think I could take them losing to Nats. {Sigh} Ok, heart of tennis season is approaching, so that’s something….

I called for Cox’s head after he blew the ‘96 series!! Now I can say, I TOLD YOU SO!! to all the fans who said he is a great manager. Whatever, now all you bandwagon fans are finally agreeing with me after the Braves have been consistent at one thing, COMING UP SHORT. Sure it takes good pitching and defense, and in the 90’s we always had good pitching. PROBLEM is we have never had good hitting or aggressive managing. U see, after the regular season is over, you have to play teams that ALSO have good pitching, hence the reason they are in the playoffs too!! Until we put together good pitching with some good hitters, not recycled trash from other teams, we will never be a true contender. We may fake it by making the playoffs again, NOT this year, but we will not be in the W.S. anytime soon. It’s time for a major change!! Get rid of COX, CHIPPER, T.P., GLAUS, WAGNER and quite possibly WREN. He is a little Schuerholz who so far has not impressed!! We need someone who can think outside the old Braves box of doing things!!

Once again, I’m gonna lay this on the pitching staff. Forget about the first inning. If the bullpen comes in and does their job, Heyward hits another game-winner and we’re all happy. Can’t think of anything worse for a struggling offense than every time you score the pitchers cough it right back up the next inning. And good lord this defense is getting frightening. You notice the Cards made EVERY defensive play including some pretty spectacular ones. And while the Braves turned in a few nice ones, the giveaways just can’t keep happening.

1st – I disagree regarding KJ. You either loved him or hated him. Most people don’t change their mind regarding him.

2nd – Nobody was “calling for Laroche’s head”. He was awesome last year.

And to the people saying we shouldn’t discuss them, I can’t imagine why not. We’ve only got so much to discuss here, and players who used to be Braves certainly have a lot more relevance than discussing Brett Anderson’s injury in Oakland.
