I love all the “ballgame” and “Game Over” calls NOW. Cracks me up.

Now all the homers will say “see, they can hit off of Wainwright”, now that Escobar and Prad start the 6th off with back to back hits.

This is the very definition of a LOW STRESS inning for Wainwright. Team just dropped 4 runs on the Braves to make it 8-1. Dude is going to take the short part of the park away and throw strikes and let them get themselves out…. which they will do.

The Braves could lose their next 50 games and they wouldn’t fire Cox or Pendleton. Y’all might as well get over it. And it will be at least the end of May before the Braves are able to make any sort of major player personnel, so you better get used to the roster, too.

Watching the ESPN GameCast. They have St. Louis as a 97 percent chance of winning.
They also listed the Braves’ chances of scoring a run with runners on second and third and one out at 77 percent. Thank God Hinske came through.
By their stats, McCann is now 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position. That’s when you know things are bad.

DOB ——
I mean, I read the blog you posted late last night with Wren’s comments about how there are no imminent moves, but I can’t be convinced that what I was suggesting in the main blog on here last night isn’t, at the very least, in the back of his mind … it can’t not be …
this Braves team is down, and you know, that’s OK because it happens to everybody … and, OK, yes, it’s early … very early …
that being said, if he and/or the rest of the front office aren’t already at least considering trading away some of the more valuable pieces if this team doesn’t pull a complete 180 within the next 2 weeks to a month, then something ain’t right …
if the Braves are sitting 10 to 15 games under .500 at the end of May, and Wren isn’t shopping guys like (and note I said, “guys like” … not necessarily these exact players) Esco, Prado, Diaz, McLouth, Hudson, Kawakami, etc., then we’ve only seen the beginning of the troubles this franchise will face over the next several seasons …
of course, as I type, these guys start chipping away … ha

3:23 pm

“N8 we were still in the hunt for the wild card going into the last 2 weeks of the season last year…as close as 2 games near the end.”

Yeah. The reason we were in the “hunt” rather than the owners of a 4-5 game lead in the wild card hunt, was because of poor decisions coming out of spring training, too much patience in guys that didn’t deserve it, and guys just flat out stinking in the first couple months of the year (3 months to be exact).

So I’ll give you that. Maybe the season didn’t “end” in April. But the Braves “broke ground” on the hole they failed to ever climb out of in April and kept digging until June before they decided to try and patch it up.

I’ve been a Braves fan since they came to Atl in 66. My son has asked “what was it like to have to watch when they were so sorry during most of the 70’s and 80’s?” Now he will find out. This team is very similar to the 1985 Braves. They were expected to contend but ended up last. I will argue that Cox is a great manager but this ‘lame duck’ thing is not working. The team is dead, they know he is gone with no idea who will manage next year. Wren is a terrible GM, the Jurriens trade is the only move he has made that has worked. Its a shame but BC will get to end his career with a 100 loss team and I place 99% of the blame on Wren. Expect a sell-off in June/July. Hopefully the Braves can dump Lowe & KK. They won’t get anything but some salary relief. Wren has doomed the Braves to several years of rebuilding. Wonder what Liberty will do when attendance falls to 5,000 per game like it was during most of the 70’s & 80’s?
