When our pitchers give up 1 run it does make it seem like they suck, because being 1 run down to a Braves fan is like 3 runs down to fans of every other mlb team. If you look at this roster and think it’s a good team then you need to pick a new sport.
Nothing against Hinske playing 1st base as much or more then the washed-up Glaus, but there we go again, making utilty players, everyday players…..Not cool.
I’ve seen a lot of “deadness” out there DOB. May be a chicken-or-egg thing with the losses, but waaay too many lapses in the fundamentals such as bloops dropping between fielders, errors, bad situational hitting etc. Beyond just the obvious weak bats it hasn’t been good baseball on a regular basis. We get a lot of singles, well not a lot, but compared to extra base hits. Haven’t seen many steal attempts or hit and run calls. Why not it’s worth a try to shake things up
Baseball teams losing almost always look lifeless. Teams that are losing usually are not hitting real well, or are not pitching well; they aren’t doing a lot of high-fiving, or smiling, etc. Every time the Braves lose a couple of games, some bloggers start proclaiming that they need to “play with passion” or some such nonsense.
David O’Brien (April 29th, 2010 2:32 pm EST): I said, hey, considering they’ve lost their last eight games, I’m surprised it’s taken this long for them to look so flat. Most games this season they’ve not done anything offensively, but I wouldn’t say they looked lifeless or dead. I don’t know, what do you guys think?
I’m with you, DOB. Last night they looked pretty dead, for sure. Before that, though, they looked like a good team playing pretty well and catching a bunch of bad breaks.
They need to get home and hopefully get something going against the Astros. If they get some confidence, then they might be able to put something together. The good news about everyone slumping at the same time is the possibility of them all being on fire at the same time as well. If we can get there, we might have something.
Medlen pitched well (again), and it’d be a shame if Chavez came in and let this game get completely out of control. Bit situation after this intentional walk loads the bases….
It sucks when your team’s season is over before May. Now we gotta wait out the season and next offseason. Bummer. At least we will get to see them break the W-L record. I’m changing my prediction from 70-92 to 52-110. Ballgame! 9 in a row!

Chip, I was just about to say that. Braves UTILITY players are becoming everyday players. Which leads me to believe even more that B.Cox must be smoking some laced cigars. I don’t think he should rest two or more players on the same day, such as yesterday (b-mac and heyward) especially while on an 8 game skid.
LOL Braves. Intentionally walk a guy to load the bases, so you can face a guy hitting over .300 and who is 2 for 2 today with a home run. Shockingly, he doubles, scoring three runs, and is now a triple away from the cycle.
This team is a joke. Stop blaming the manager and his coaches. These are well paid professionals, they shouldn’t need to be motivated. This has been a problem for years now, these guys just don’t seem to care. Talk is cheap.
I predict you’ll see some quick at-bats from the Braves the rest of the day. They’ll want to get home as quick as possible, with their tails between their legs.
This is beyond stupid. Braves have no pride and less soul. I hope we lose every game until Bobby, Wren and Tp are put where they are supposed to be the unemployment line.
And let the meltdown (in real life & on the blog) begin….
But seriously folks. It’s all icing for the Cards at this point. The second that 3rd run crossed the plate on the HR in the first inning…. the game WAS over.
3-1, 2-1, 6-1, 7-1, 94-1…. it was going to be a loss either way.
Y’all didn’t actually think we were going to score 3 or 4 runs off of Wainwright today…. did you???
Wow. I really don’t want to go ahead and say 9 in a row, but down 7-1 — now make that 8-1 — and we’re not even through 5 innings, against this pitcher, and with this offense, who am I kidding?
If the Braves can just “surrender” this game to the cards and pack their sh*t and just get back home, it wouldn’t be the worst thing. Save the bullpen at least.
Time to light a fire under this bunch…something drastic has to be done. Does Wren have the guts to do it…probably not. Worked for the Colorado Rockies last year…
Sheesh. All in 10 days this team’s made Jonathan Neise, Kyle Kendrick and Jamie Moyer look like Cy Young. Now they’re making David Freese look like Albert Pujols. Something tells me this Braves team will show up in a lot of video for arbitration hearings.
