Bobby showed himself as a players coach last night – with his comments about Heyward.
Up until those comments were printed by DOB, the love for Heyward had begun to turn. I would say 50% had began to make negative comments about Heyward (go back through the blogs last 2 days).
So, BC makes that comment and now everyone is back in love with Heyward and mad at Cox.
I would say BC’s plan worked!
Also, I’m sure he did not say something that he had not already talked to Heyward about.

gobravos,

Just sick to watch (well I dont even watch anymore), year in year out and LOL that some keep saying that Cox is the best manager ever………..pathetic. It is a joke how he cant put the same lineup in back to back games………..Sure its about trying to adjust, but, everyday? LOL. IMO it only tells me he has no clue on whats best for the team……..thats why he keeps shuffling them around. I wouldnt be surprised to see Mc leading of tonight and Melky batting clean up.

Dan in NJ, that’s exactly what the problem was with Kelly, we just didn’t have a manager creative enough to know how to use him when he came back from his injury. He showed us ALL what he was capable of doing with the bat, over the last 2.5 months of the 2008 season. In 2009, he started slow, but was also hurting so bad that he needed 3 cortisone shots to get any relief. However, when he came back, Prado had been playing so well that there was no way Kelly could unseat him, even though he showed over the first week back after getting healed up (remember the HUGE HR he hit in extra innings, against the Dodgers?). But why couldn’t Kelly or Prado play LF/RF after he returned? It’s not like Kelly hadn’t already played a full season in LF when he first got the call to the majors. For the same reason Hinske is sitting on the bench everyday even though he’d be the ultimate platoon partner for Diaz in LF. #6 isn’t anywhere near creative enough.

I saw a pitcher play LF and not embarass himself a few weeks ago. It really doesn’t take the utmost athleticism. Besides, was GAndy really tearing up the OF defense a year ago? What about Diaz or Cabrera this year?

The best thing that ever happened to Kelly Johnson was to get out of Atlanta. To be honest, it’s the best thing to happen to Prado, because had Kelly come out hitting this way at the beginning of last year, instead of struggling some then dealing with an injury, we’d have NEVER known how good Prado was.

You don’t have to have LF next to your name on the roster to actually be able to play LF. I can’t see rationalizing why you’d play Garrett Anderson out there every day, & not at least give Kelly a try back out there, to get one of your better pure hitters some PA’s. It’s not like Garrett was giving us anythign offensively, & he was a statue in the OF. We’ve never been able to use a guy like a “super utility” guy before though, ask Mark DeRosa.

Doc, agree with your thoughts on lineup, too. I was talking with my Dad, who is a St. Louis native and subsequently watched a lot of good teams over the years, and he pointed out that the Braves problems start with Bobby changing the lineup around everyday. He then, of course, stated that LaRussa never changes the lineup much except with the pitcher, and that that is why the Cardinals will always be a winning team with him around.

All of these ex-Braves doing so well is like pouring salt on our wounds. KJ with 8 HRs, Andrew with 6 HRs, LaRoche (who usually is awful in April) is batting .280, Renteria is hitting .320, Davies is 2-1 with an ERA of 3.65. Heck, even Bruce Chen is tied with Billy Wagner for saves. That hurts…

This is getting ridiculous. No, not the way the Braves are playing, but their idiotic decision to let Peachtree TV (or whatever it’s called) broadcast the games. News flash – If you live outside the perimeter, they don’t broadcast in HD.

I’ve seen others on here comment about this, and I want to add my voice. EVERY other game on MLB Extra Innings is in HD EXCEPT the stupid Braves. Come on, do they want me to become a Mets fan? At least their games (and every other team’s games) are in HD. If they’d let me, I’d watch the Cardinals broadcast in HD but, of course, that’s blacked out. I’ve been following the Braves for 30 years and have been to over 100 games at Turner Field & Fulton County Stadium, and I’m about fed up with this organization. If you can’t put a decent product on the field, at least recognize that you better put on a decent broadcast if you want to keep ANY audience at all. F’ing Jerks!
