We’re taking Bobby’s comments way out of context (Us? Take things out of context?

What Bobby said was that Heyward was taking way too many STRIKES and that he was constantly hitting with a 2-strike count. It’s true.

But apparently what some people heard was “Everything that’s wrong with baseball and global warming is Jason Heyward taking pitches.”

Pretty sure that Liberty signed an agreement when they purchased the Braves that they’d keep the management structure in place, and that payroll would be at least maintained in the same general vicinity of where it was at the time of purchase. (that might be why MgGuirk was so insistent that payroll had not been slashed this year – because they are contractually bound to maintain it)

Also, agree with fastasballs that they are better served by maintaining a quality product. I don’t think they’re gonna cut payroll dramatically no matter what happens on the field for a year or two.

No one heard that, jeffrey d, just odd that were in the middle of a 7 or 8 game losing streak, and that’s what Bobby chooses to talk about, and the only person he calls out. It’s not the only thing wrong with the world, but at least it’s fun to watch Heyward even when it’s strikes out, but tonight Bobby has even denied us that privilege.

I see the problem being the front office’s refusal to utilize advanced statistical metrics to their advantage similar to other teams like the Mariners, or Athletics, or Red Sox. Atlanta acquires guys because they are “good in the clubhouse” and because they have been good in the past. That is the most frustrating element of the construction of the roster, nobody brings a well-rounded approach to the game.

Lou Vales

Let’s guess–When is the “next big series the Braves need?” I say it will be designated in next 3 days. Of course we all SHOULD know that is horse hockey and especially people who are paid to know should be aware of that.

Remember I HATE the Braves and the Clara Barton they have “some times” playing 3rd but they are just too good to be buried in THIS garbage division in this weaker league.

You will be fine–and I hate to say that.

Seriously. Does it bother anyone who follows Atlanta pro teams that the Braves, Falcons, hawks and Flames/Thrashers have been here since 1966 and combined they have 1 less World Championship than Florida Marlins who have been in existence 27 fewer years?? That doesn’t make you question IF you are just a bunch of Cub FANaticS on a more macro level??

Yes, this is all Liberty’s fault…

Who’s fault is it then? Why did we have to go get a 1B to hit in THE MIDDLE OF OUR ORDER without being able to spend more then $2MM? Why else did we have to trade our best pitcher from a year ago for a prospect and a 4th OF, who we have to use on a daily basis b/c we couldn’t afford to spend any money on a REAL LF? Why else did we have to trade away our slugging 1B, who we gave up 4 highly rated prospects for, for a guy like Casey Kotchman?

Until we have an ownership willing to put money into the team, the team’s not going to do anything on the field, and the fans aren’t going to show up & support them. Considering where this franchise was 10 years ago, that’s an absolute crime.

I’ve followed the Pistons since 1957 and I can guarantee there is very little difference between playing for Conference Championships that you realize you are not good enough to win and being a lottery team. After AWHILE theteam you follow SHOULD win a BIG PRIZE to make you fell good about time you are investing. After Florida’s success do you think followers give a rat’s rectum about going 10-3? Georgia brags because they average 10 wins a year, but that ain’t getting you any crytal bowl in the trophy case.

Wes, I’m not saying fire Bobby because Heyward isn’t in the lineup. I don’t even think Bobby deserves to be fired. What I’m saying is that these guys allegedly live and die for Bobby Cox. Allegedly they were all going to play harder for him. yadda blah, yadda blah, yadda blah!!!

Fire the old man. Maybe someobody will get mad enough to actually do something on the field. Hell, maybe Chipper and Lowe will be so mad they both demand a trade, and Wren can rid himself of those salaries, even if he has to eat some of them.

My comment about Heyward was nothing more than a comment stating that if Heyward isn’t in the game, there isn’t ANY reason for me to tune in, at ALL. Not tonight anyhow. Certainly not worth having the Braves feed lock up on me and spinning me into another dimention of pissed off.

Back to firing. I don’t even think TP deserves to be fired. But SOMEBODY’S head should roll. Because apparently nothing is going to wake this crew up. Perhaps the guilt of a friend losing his job (cry me a river, he’d still get paid), and the threat of other coaches getting the ax would cause some focus.

Then again, probably not. They more than likely all just suck. :-) Isn’t that how the complaining goes these days?

Lou Vales,

For some people, it would at least be interesting to see the Hawks play Orlando in the 2nd round.

Yes, Orlando has dominated Atlanta for the last 3 seasons, but the Celtics dominated them in 2008, as well, but the play-off series b/w Atlanta and Boston was pretty entertaining nonetheless.

Some of us like to watch sports and be entertained, regardless of the outcome.

Additionally, how the Hawks fare this off-season could impact their off-season. Does Joe Johnson stay, or go? Are the Hawks better off with him, or without him?

If the Hawks win a round, and play Orlando tough, and then Lebron leaves Cleveland this summer for a Western Conference team, where do the Hawks rank among the East contender’s next year?

2nd, 3rd?

It’s progress for a team that won 13 games in 2004.

Just because the former genius that was Joe Dumars has ruined the Pistons doesn’t mean that you have to come in and question why people might enjoy watching play-off basketball, even if they don’t expect the Hawks to win the championship.

Sorry that Bird stole the ball from Isaiah. :) :) :) :)

I’d be embarrassed if I were Chipper right now. It’s not, “hey, you’re a future HOF, former NL MVP”, it’s, “what have you done for me lately”. Chipper needs to show some self pride and ride the bench for a while.

Who’s have thought out of all the playoff-less years that this group would turn out to be the worst? It looks very, very possible at this point. I don’t know what else to say other than I can’t see them digging out of this hole with this group. Not enough talent or grit/fight in them.
