That’s just the 7th time all year that Prado has swung at the first pitch.

I hope the TP don’t talk to J-Hey rule is being followed. JK, TP has said himself that he doesn’t even have to touch Heyward and that you would never try to change the approach of a guy like him. I’d say if a batting style gets you to the big leagues by 20 your all good. He’s probably got a better idea of where he should be standing in the box than any of us.

Ray K, I know you did not say everyone. I could have left it at comment on the opening sentence, a prevailing wind of near-sightedness hell I like it. I used the word apoplectic texting with my cousin about the blog and he wrote back, if you’re going to make me get out a dictionary I’m through texting with you , funny.

Great play by Yunel.

Since the pitcher’s bats have come alive does that put the 9th spot in the order with a higher avg/more hits than our leadoff men?

Excellent point by Joe on why LaRussa hits a pitcher 8th.

Sabermetricians will tell you that it’s always better for a pitcher (or the worst hitter) to bat 8th.

As a hitter, you do have to expand your strike zone there with the pitcher on deck. But that’s a tough pitch to pull the trigger on. Started way off the plate and didn’t look like it came back all the way, either.

Good Point, especially when the team is struggling like it is and relying on the pitcher to drive in the runs, I hope they don’t take the rest of the night off on offense like they did last night
