If i’m not mistake, I think Mike Hampton is available. We sign him, and he automatically becomes the Braves 2nd or 3rd best hitter.

ixnay the Mike Hampton signing. Just found out he’ll miss 2010 because of injury. Are y’all as surprised as I am about that?

Funny how Kelly Johnson has suddenly remembered how to hit…

yep, and Andruw is making an early case for comeback player of the year. Hitting almost .300 with 6 dingers.

Heyward would be doing better if the guys around him were hitting. No sense pitching to him when the guys around him are just as easy to get out. He doesn’t need to hit above about .260 to have called this year a success anyway. He certainly can’t be counted on to carry this team. Don’t know if you’ve noticed or not but besides Prado the entire lineup is slumping.

Wren will take care of this…. he’ll research statistics from the 90s and find that magical player who was at the top of his game then – and will tell fans that the player still has it for a little while longer and that we can get him on the cheap!! I see him calling Barry Bonds, Julio Fanco or Moises Alou telling them he’ll offer them ONE MEEEELLLLLYYYON DOLLARS (said in Dr. Evil’s voice)….

Imagine if we had the great front office and coaches that many seem to think we do. Our team could look more like:

C McCann .255/2/8
1B Kotchman .262/3/14 or LaRoche .286/2/10
2B Johnson .302/7/13
3B Prado .392/1/14
SS Furcal .312/0/6 (8SB)
OF A. Jones .292/6/9
OF Francoeur .286/3/10
OF Heyward .234/4/16
SP Wainwright 1.69 (ERA’s)
SP Hanson 2.14
SP Hudson 3.28
SP Millwood 3.38
SP Davies 3.65
CP Soriano 2.57 w/ 4 saves

All these guys were at one time in our organization. The problem is only 5 of them are now. That many former players that are better than what we currently have. How is that?

I never thought about the fact that Pendleton could be the problem. But they won’t fire him because he is heir apparent to Cox; Escobar, as usual, isn’t focused. Maybe their content to finish in last place; I think we’re looking at a four game sweep for the Cards.

I don’t know, but there will be some ex-Braves next year who’ll be performing well with other clubs and everybody will wish they were with the Braves. It’s always going to happen. Happens to other ballclubs. Let’s get over with it.

-It’s one thing if it comes down to $$$. I understand that. But when it comes to evaluating, developing and coaching talent (which is their jobs), I think a fair share of clubs do much better. I didn’t even include Andrus & Feliz on this list. You win some.. you lose some. Just seems like we lose a lot more talent than we gain. And we’re seeing the results of that.

Very well could be the case with Andruw. The part that was always lacking in his game was his attitude (very Escobar-ish) and work ethic (he was lazy). Kelly, on the other hand, was always a streaky hitter and his numbers will probably average out just like Frenchy is doing right now.

Andruw has always had the talent which is what drove us all crazy about him and now Escobar.

Folks are making way too much hey over Frenchy and Johnson. It’s a new season and those numbers will average out to just about where they were last year.

Same goes for the back of the cards of our current new players. We just saw Melky starting to swing it last night. McLouth will find his stick soon enough having just missed a grand slam homer by meire feet a week ago and nearly missing another homer the other night vs. the Mets.

Last night’s game was a great start. They came out determined and they got some great hits early. I thought Bobby took Huddy out just in time, he usually waits two hits too long. The ground-rule double, well, sometimes you just have to tip your cap. The Cards are a good hitting team and a good pitching one, too. But so are the Braves and I think we’ll turn the corner tonight if last night was any indication of such.

Now, pardon me while I go get a refill on that pitcher of Kool-Aid ;)

This 2010 season is going to be hysterical watching the Braves manager Cox sit there clueless………….with the motivation skills of a mailbox.
Baseball has not evolved one ioata in the last 100 years as to how to really “manage” players. They still think it’s TABOO to actually talk to a player before an at bat or during a game. Their philosphy is beyond prehistoric.
Laughable.

ha ha steve h, you had me going for a while. The “tip my cap” gave it away. Ol’ Bobby couldn’t have said it better himself. Really irked me after the game last night that Hudson had to talk about the bad luck of Prado’s line drive DP early in the game when they were up 3-0 already. As if that caused the Braves to blow the lead and never score again. So pathetic to see the Cox excuse-making mentality sweep down to all the players.

this is the very reason why the Braves aren’t winning they r not BLACK enough. Got player that going through the motion just ,because they don’t have any pressure on them. Chipper need to go in a corner and sit he just don’t having anymore should have got rid of him when he was worth something instead you give him a 3 years contract. Then you went out and pick up some more trash that can’t help you.
