Haha. So true. You’re a wise professor, Moe Berg. I might just skip anyways. I’ll have to think of a good excuse. Any ideas…it’ll have to be good, since he knows how badly I want to skip.
It all depends on the quality of the work that gets turned in. I know that when I was an undergrad, I received ‘A’s’ in courses which I rarely attended. I still wrote good papers. Likewise, if someone misses a great many classes but still does a good quality work, they have a chance of making in the ‘B-range’ in my courses. (Though more often a little lower.)
If you knew how many classes Roman Gal skipped on a regular basis….then you would be glad I suggest she go to class.
Hey now…some things are better left unsaid. Maybe you should go to bed. I’m not leaving until you do, because I don’t trust you on here behind my back!
RG–The best excuses do not involve ill family members (or being ill yourself). Way overused. (Although, I have occasionally claimed illness as a professor, when I was not.) I would suggest something that implies you are way overworked–some major writing assignment or group project for another class. One advantage to being in a city, is claiming being stuck in construction traffic (or traffic from a wreck); all entirely believable. I guess that does not work in Rome so well. Let’s see, can you claim a Maundy Thursday religious exemption?
The professor will usually be unwilling to challenge a religious claim.
Hah! I just sent him an email telling him that it would be perfectly alright with me if he wanted to celebrate Maundy Thursday with his family instead of suffering through a lesson with me. And I told him that there was no need to return the favor later, I’m willing to do this out of the goodness of my heart.

San Diego’s Tim Stauffer makes a lot of sense. Loogy
That would be awesome. I used to date his sister on and off for a few years. Great kid, from a great family that lives not to far from me. This town still hangs on his every pitch, so I’d love to see him in a Braves uni.
He’s been a bit of a mixed bag for the Padres, with a couple shoulder injuries. He was healthy last year, and I thought he pitched a lot better than his 4-7 record showed. He’s gotta be around 27 or 28 now, so it might be a make or break year for him.
btw, Stauffer is the same kid that voluntarily turned down a $2.3 million offer after he was drafted back in 2003, and disclosed to the team that he had shoulder problems. Ended up taking a $750K signing bonus instead. Talk about integrity. I think he still hasn’t made a career total of $2.3 million.
Thrillhouse: In that scenario, I think Jo-Jo would return to Triple-A to start, if there weren’t any injuries before Proctor returned. But you just don’t know. Maybe Jo-Jo gets more chances to pitch early than I think he will, and maybe he shines in those chances, and maybe… Well, just so many things that could happen. And that’s assuming they could get such a starter to begin with.
I’ve always contended that if you need a question answered or someone to tell you how to go about solving a problem, that there will be a Denizen that can help. I’m counting on that now.
In order to download artwork to the Johnny Cash Project, I need Adobe Flash Player 10 (or beter). Can’t download it. I’ve been trying for two days and it just doesn’t work. Maybe the computer is too antiquated -whatever.
I need a Denizen with computer skills (maybe even knowledge of Photoshop) and a computer with the required Adobe Flash 10 to help me get the artwork on the sight.
I’d be willing to trade some artwork in return for the help………
Stauffer is the same kid that voluntarily turned down a $2.3 million offer after he was drafted back in 2003, and disclosed to the team that he had shoulder problems. Ended up taking a $750K signing bonus instead. Talk about integrity. I think he still hasn’t made a career total of $2.3 million.
A much better man than me. I would’ve went all Biggie on ‘em, and said, “Big up, big up, it’s a stick up, stick up! Gimme the loot, gimme the loot!”
Lew – Just a small suggestion, try uninstalling your current version (which I assume you already have), and then re-install from scratch…sometimes there are little bugs in your registry that screw things up…also can’t hurt to run anti spy/malware program too.
Thrillhouse -Caught your post after I’d answered Toga. I’ll definitely let you know if more help is needed. Thanks.
Also, thought since I had an “in” on this project, that maybe I’d do another MIB portrait. Worthy of a Wurlitzer prize? Suggestions on how to choose the winner?
Ease-I’ve tried about five times so far and all they’ll download is 9 or 9.3. I’m thinking I don’t have enough computer for what it takes. Never used photoshop, either. I can draw or paint anything that exists (as a friend used to say) and if it doesn’t I can create a picture of it anyway. But technology? Fraid not.
toga-Nah Dude, you’ll get the print anyway. I was talking about some real art – the original stuff. Not too sure I kept your email. I get so many and they change all the time, so…..same with addresses after I mail stuff. I try not to invade privacy and respect that I’ve been trusted. You should see my address book (but never will) and some of the names in it that had their privacy respected, too. I take it very seriously.
Braveheart, one thing that troubles me about the Ready to Die album is when Biggie talks about eating 5 cent gum for dinner. I hate to do it, but I’m calling fallacy on that. No way you get that big chompin on Bazooka Joe’s for dinner.
Stauffer is the same kid that voluntarily turned down a $2.3 million offer after he was drafted back in 2003, and disclosed to the team that he had shoulder problems. Ended up taking a $750K signing bonus instead.
just dont see why the Braves wouldnt want to see what Jo Jo can do as a reliever in ATL. He’s a loogy and nothing more. If he cant make it, then cut him or trade him to the Mets or Royals. He wont be a starter at this level. Is our AAA pitching staff so bad that Jo Jo would be the only person who could spot start in an emergency?
I just looked at Sports Illustrated “expert” picks. Summary:
The Phillies were the only unanimous division winner (13 experts). Seven picked them to go to the World Series.
The Braves were picked to win the wild card seven times (no WS picks), the Diamondbacks twice, and Dodgers, Marlins, Giants and Rockies once each.
All but one picked the Cardinals in the Central (Reds got one vote), and they got three votes for the NL pennant.
The Rockies were picked to win the West by six people, with three picking them to go to the World Series. The Dodgers got five votes to win the West, and the Giants and D-Backs one each.
All but one of the 13 picked Jason Heyward to win ROY (Buster Posey got a vote).
Lew – Most (well alot) websites these days run Flash, and version 10 update is only about 44MB, so I doubt it is a computer issue (otherwise Adobe would be alienating roughly 99% of computer users)…probably a software issue, which is why I recommended the uninstall, reinstall method. But worry not, we got your back!
And I sent you an email thanking you, but while I have your ear, THANKS (!!!!) for the Chipper print. I absolutely love it.
All I can tell from ESPN is that the Baseball Tonight guys (Ravech, Olney, Kurkijan, Bobby Valentine, Aaron Boone, Buck Showalter) all predict the same order of finish in the NL East (Phillies, Braves, Marlins, Mets, Nationals), except Valentine, who flipped the Mets and Marlins.
Seems like Jo Jo has figured out how to get through an inning or 2. He may never be a starter at this level, but I say give him a chance in the bullpen before you give up on him compleatly. Too bad acosta never figured it out, even with his tallent. If Bobby and the Braves front office give up on you, you are plobably a lost cause.Shows how desperate he Mets are for pitching.
Lew, I’m impressed that anyone can draw. I screw up drawing stick figures. I can sing pretty well, or at least read music and stay on pitch, but my artwork looks like kindergarden.
Ok…sorry, but i heard the cover of Baseball Issue it change for different market area…if any one in Atlanta area want to trade just email me at: criollocag@comcast.net
Ease-I did the uninstall and re-install three times yesterday. Still hasn’t worked. My computer is falling apart. The sound card and cd-rom drive are shot and no telling what else. Also, Comcast just switched from McAfee to Norton and I’ve had fits with it, too and had to temporarily switch back to McAfee.
Unfortunately, a new computer just isn’t in the cards at the moment. Appreciate the advice, though.
Lew – No worries man!…There are enough techies here to help…Heck, if DOB wasn’t so intent on getting out of FLA, he has a pretty good staff backing him up…Just ask a ghost!

No way you get that big chompin on Bazooka Joe’s for dinner.

just dont see why the Braves wouldnt want to see what Jo Jo can do as a reliever in ATL.
