Are the Nationals still on pace for the first winless Spring training ever or have they finally broken through. When they played the Braves earlier this week the Nats were sporting an 0-11 record.

I haven’t looked yet, but I wonder if this game will be on TV tomorrow either on MLN Network, or on ESPN? I guess I will have to take a look.

Jason Marquis has been beyond awful for the Nationals this spring. 1-1 with a 14.40 ERA. His WHIP is 2.60. He’s given up 16 earned runs in 10 innings. Opponents are hitting .409 off him. Only 2 strikeouts all spring, with 8 walks and 18 hits. I wonder if GM Mike Rizzo wants a mulligan on that 2-year, $21 million deal yet.

Just read on the Braves website that they optioned Manny Acosta to AAA today. Good, that is a relief. Now it says that if Proctor is not ready for opening day that their are 2 positions left and that righties Chavez and Kimbrel and lefties Venters and Reyes are battling it out.

Who ever makes it out of Kimbrel and Chavez will no doubt be optioned once Proctor is ready. I really have no idea who has the leg up between Venters and Reyes because I haven’t seen enough games to determine that. If the past is any indication, I would go with Venters. Reyes is hit and miss at best.
