………………………………..Congratulations Frenchy…………………only 26 more to go. When Jason Heyward turns 26 he’ll become a free agent. Unless the MORONS in the front OFFICE do the smart thing and keep him in the minors UNTIL June. ATXRaindog- I’m not saying Leo Mazzone wasn’t a good pitching coach, but most of his succes came when he had the big three at his disposal. He certainly couldn’t figure out how to build a closer which bit them in the behind in the post season many of those 14 consecutive division winning years. I guess starters are his specialty?
Hey, I say the same thing about Joe Torre. The guy sure got smart as soon as he took over that Yankee powerhouse. Up until then he was a below .500 manager with many years under his belt.

I mean, in general, I’d say coaches probably get a little more credit/blame than they deserve. I don’t disagree w/ you that Mazzone’s success was half-rooted in the fact that he happened to coach very talented and intelligent pitchers.

My man. Looks like the BRAVES and METS are pretty evenly matched at this point in 2010. That’s not something I would have said starting off the past two seasons. I thought the METS quite a bit better than the BRAVES at this point in ‘08 and ‘09. FLA. looks improved as well. STRASBURG alone will help the NATS, although he’s not slated to start the season in D.C. – HARRISBURG I believe. And with HALLIDAY, the PHILLIES have to be improved. It’s gonna’ be quite a race this year in the NL East I think. PHILLIES clearly the best in baseball until proven otherwise.

jeffrey, that was a shot at Frenchy because he said if OBP% is so important than why doesn’t it show up on the score board. At least I think he said OBP%.
That is what Francouer said. Further proof that he doesnt get it.
OBP is the most important thing in Baseball. Far and away. In Baseball there isnt a clock. The game moves along because outs are made. The most precious commodity in Baseball are outs. The more players you have that excel at not making outs the better off you are going to be.

For the objective enlightening baseball thoughts from the likes of Brian from SC. I mean, up here in NY all these fans think the Mets injuries actually impacted their season last year. Can you believe that? They lost their 1st,3rd,4th and 5th hitters along with 3 out of 5 starters and their closer to injuries last year and now they use that as a crutch for not playing better.
You don’t get that type of subjectivity here on the old Braves blog. That’s why I come here.
