Well, one wireless adapter, 4 hours and one visit from my brother later and I have internet in my home office! YAY! Good morning…errr…afternoon blog-folk!
Obviously not as overrated as RBI, but still overrated because it’s not the number one stat.
And the “number one stat” is?
Seriously, how can you call the most efficient method of scoring, one which produces almost 1.5 runs per event, overrated? I was beginning to really like you and your posts, man, LOL.
smitty-you’d be surprised about how many games The Denizens get to. I live in Vermont, but have seen the Braves at Turner Field, in Montreal, Toronto, Boston and even at the HOF Game in Cooperstown. There were plenty Braves’ fans at all of those away games, too – in Montreal, 90% of those at the games were Braves’ fans.
There was a belief at the time that Heyward, a native of McDonough, Ga., wanted to sign with the Braves and might have opted for college if drafted by another team.
I’d never heard that before. I know he’s also a bit of a Yankees fan, so I guess it was Braves, Yankees, or bust for him. Kidding…I think. Anyways, This article is a good read.
i didnt hear minaya say this, but it doesnt make sense
“Henceforth” being the operative word. As in, “in the future”. You’re right about one thing, though, it makes about as much sense as your outline for what Minaya should, or should have, done.
They are in a ballpark that penalizes the would-be power sources on their team, and they play in a division where every other team is ramping up offensively. Even if Minaya gets all the starting pitching in the universe, the speediest-grittiest-most-havoc-wreaking offense, and half-a-dozen Gold Glovers, they’ll still get their brains beat in on a regular basis. Couple of years of that, and there won’t be any more discussion about not moving the fences.
I think the main blog rule is if there’s a song lyric, it’s the main blog.
Yeah, I usually look for it. But today I just clicked by DOB’s pretty picture on the main page and just assumed it was a new blog. I’m only a partial failure, though, because I figured it out rather quickly.

perhaps they meant it in the sense that team home run totals don’t correlate to team wins as highly as some other stats? or not…
scoots, its hard to believe a guy when basically the only thing he has done is add a players who pretty much has one skill, hitting homeruns. (which will be hard to do in that park.) its like saying, “in the future, im going to do pretty much the opposite of what i just did.” maybe he realizes how dumb it was.
i disagree with you on how good the team could be though. getting good pitching, and more players like beltran or wright, instead of guys like bay, and you can wins alot of ballgames.
i never said they should stock up on juan pierre types. im saying get good pitchers, and players who can do more than hit for power. (like bay)

Where are we going to put Sheffield? We don’t have room for him without moving someone of the 40 man. Diory Hernandez is the safe bet once Proctor is ready, since he is injured, but I don’t see us clearing another space for a player that we don’t need.
