I like ESCO in the leadoff Spot but Bobby won’t let him steal bases…
Plus I’d rather have Esco lower in the order (6th or 7th) because he was clutch. He was among the ML leaders last year hitting w/ R.I.S.P. and some publications call him the team M.V.P. of the second 1/2 last year becuase of that…
Oh and Ghost…. DOB seems to sum it up quite well and he is right there in the middle of the situation. But of course you must know more than him because you read Moneyball, huh?
So is he naive to think Heyward starts the season in RF?
In every way. The DVR for one. I get about 160 hrs. from DirecTV . With Time Warner Cable it topped out at 80, at the same price…The remote control does so much more than cable’s did. It is much “smarter”.The only drawback for me is the commercials seem louder than on cable…They say no, but I don’t know
Ghost of P.L., you are a douche and should be pricked with needle nose pliers and kept away from technology. You make people dumber for having to read your garbage, but at the same time, you make feel smarter too. Weird.
Halliday leaves after three innings of dominance, meat (Madson) is on the mound and the Braves light him up for four runs. Go figure, it must be spring training.
No “real” lead-off guy on this team….and McLouth just doesn’t seem like he does well there, even though he has the speed to do it. So, why not:
1. Prado (at least as patient if not more tha McLouth and decent speed)
2. Heyward (I think he would really benefit here)
3. Chipper
4. Glaus
5. McCann
6. Escobar
7. McLouth (good power and lower obp seems to be a better fit here)

Larry, what channel is PTV on DirecTV? I’m about to move into a new house and I don’t believe TWC is giong to carry PTV….plus i’m fed up with their crappy quality.
I am in North Carolina and, of course, am blacked out on MLBN. This is the ONLY place I can get a play by play. Thanks so much. I have Direct TV and much prefer it over cable.
I don’t regret switching from cable to Directv from cable at all. Better quality and more stations for same prices. Also more recording hrs and such as others have mentioned.
Meanwhile, I forgot to mention that I already have my tickets for Opening Day. I got tickets for all 3 games against the Giants. Hopefully we will do better than we did last year when the Giants swept us in May.
joerochester, I won’t ever go back to cable. The customer service sucks. I used to have TWC’s phone number on my “Fav 5’s” (not really, but I told them I did), as I called so much. I switched to DirecTV a little over a year ago. Last week my DVR gave a little msg. telling me to call customer service. I called and they (directv) said my receiver needed replacing. They over-nighted it to me and gave me 90 days free Showtime because I lost my recordings…
the only thing about direct tv —have you ever tried cancelling with them? they have you locked in for two if not three years and they want hella dinero to break the contract that alot of people did’nt know they were signing to begin with. I swore when i finally got free and clear from them that I would never use them again. They all blow really, but for now comcast works for me.
Heath,we are in agreement on the need to put Heyward in the 2 slot in the lineup. It will give him better pitches to see batting in front of Chipper and put some more speed at top of lineup.
As you can see by the round, lifeless blob in the middle of the graph, there is virtually no positive correlation between a team’s strikeout totals and its runs-scored totals. When it comes to offense, an out is an out is an out.
Cable internet is pretty good…a lot faster than dsl. That is the only reason I have any services from cable companies now. (No need for home phone.) Packaging internet and cable together might same you a few bucks…it just boils down to what you want.

Granted, putting the ball in play, whether in the air or on the ground, can sometimes enable a hitter to advance a runner, but it also increases the chance of hitting into a double-play—a far greater rally-killer than a strikeout.
