I think fear has ruined the game of baseball for some of the fans here.
Either people are really afraid that the players on the Braves won’t be good enough, or that the good ones are going to leave as soon as they can.
Can we just enjoy this season before we start talking about Heyward going to the Yankees in 5 years?

Or for those of us that DO have Comcast and are picking up the UCF v. Miami college baseball game on CSS for some reason? I had my DVR set and everything and CSS has just torn out my heart

Also in a Directv blackout in NC…BUT it’s streaming here… http://www.myp2p.eu/broadcast.php?matchid=68525&part=sports ….you’ll need to download the player they have…streamtorrent or whatever….it’s in the software section…but it works.

I wonder if there anything to this–
KK had the lowest run support in the league last year. Does anybody think maybe because he labors it wears down the guys behind him and they’re wore down a little by the time they get to bat?

wjones……..my main point all along with Heyward is economics, not whether he is ready or not. However, I also see a side benefit of having him get a few more at-bats in Triple A. If he were to dominate Triple A pitching, then it would only confirm that he is ready.
For instance, the main point of signing Tom Glavine last year was to give Hanson a little more time. At the time, the Braves werent sure that Hanson could step in and be the Opening Day #5 starter. When Hanson showed that he was for sure ready, then the Braves cut Glavine and called him up.
Why not use that same reasoning with Heyward (and potentially save some serious cash in the long run)? Have Heyward start the year in Triple A and when he does the same thing that Hanson did, then call him up and get rid of one of the surplus outfielders.

agreed…but they could’ve at least shelled out 4-5 mil last offseason for Abreu, instead of Loaf (Anderson). If we would’ve had Abreu last year then we would’ve made the playoffs…

I’m blacked out on MLB Network tv too, but whats most concerning to me is the the Braves PTV channel is no longer on Time Warner Cable…the channel is something called LOGO. Does anyone know if Time Warner Cable will be bringing this back, I tried on one of those chats the other night and they said they have no information. ALso, which satellite dish carrier carries PTV??

On the kid…Jason Heyward…people need to take a deeeep breath. Dude will be fine as the starting right fielder…and on opening day…and every day for years to come!!!
All that other stuff will take care of itself…in due time. So…he gets his money a little earlier than most.
Just means that he is producing…just like we would all like to see.

me too DOB…but Heyward looked soo good on a grouder to short…this is my first time seeing him live…(as is the case for many bloggers I assume..) I say he starts on opening day..he has the “it” factor…IMO
you can’t NOT start him….I think that would mess with the “chemistry of the team..the MOJO..) call me crazy..

One major thing I’m noticing with KK is his arm action is a little different than last year. He’s kind of short arming it. Don’t know if that’s a way to lossen his arm early in ST or what. He’s leaving a lot of fat pitches though.

A k is usally just another out. Not that big a deal. If he hits a lot of doubles and steals his share he will be fine.

THANK YOU DOB…… for saying what needed to be said. If Heyward struggles in the next few weeks then sending him down should be a consideration. If he continues to perform like he has been performing, he should start the season in ATL.
I know your post breaks the hearts of THOSE LEARNED GM WANNABES who have posted all spring about how it makes good sense for Heyward to start the season in AAA.
To put it simply, that school of thought is BS! Start the season with the best team you have and let 2016 take care of itself! The guys who have been posting that stuff must be fans of on the cheap GMs who like to come off as the smart wunderkind but in all truth still haven’t been deep in the playoffs their entire career! (Billy-Hype- Beane comes to mind)

I think he’d have had to lay out to catch it. It’s Spring Training, not worth risking an injury. Heyward likewise could have made a wall jump attempt on the Werth home run. Not worth an injury, though.
