Braves have 12 TV games this spring

12 – The number of Braves  spring-training games that will be televised in at least the Atlanta area, including three national broadcasts on ESPN.

That’s one benefit of playing home games in a complex recently renamed ESPN’s Wide World of Sports.

Tuesday’s Grapefruit League opener against the Mets will be on the MLB network,  and CSS has the next TV games March 9 against the Phillies and  March 11 against the Yankees.

Next on the tube after that are March 16-17 games against the Marlins on SportSouth, then three on ESPN March 23 vs. Mets, March 24 vs. Phillies and March 26 vs. Tigers.

CSS has two more games March 30 against the Yankees and March 31 vs. the Astros, and the last two exhibition games of the spring against the White Sox at Turner Field will be carried on SportSouth (April 2) and Fox Sports South (April 3).

DOB I believe that MLB network is covering the opener tomorrow as well. You have said that there is a strong likelihood of rain so that omission might be intentional, but just thought I’d double check.

MLB Network is carrying the games on the 9th and 11th as well as CSS, for those of us without CSS.

Oh, and MLB Network also has the games on the 16th and 17th if you don’t have SportSouth. Or if you’d rather have MLB Network announcers for some reason. And another CSS game that is also on MLB Network is the 31st game.

Summary of MLB Network broadcasts for Braves: 3/2, 3/9, 3/11, 3/16, 3/17, 3/31.

It will be nice to see a Braves player getting the hype. I believe Hanson’s instant impact helped pave the way for the Heyward hype to hit full force. He’s getting equal billing with the “best draft pick in history” Strasburg, which is not a bad place to start.

The games that will be simulcast on MLB network will be the feeds from the affiliats such as CSS or FSN. So you will get the same braodcasters for local feed and network. Plus the network may black the games out if they are available locally on CSS or FSN.

Also I heard that 680 will let thier normal crew do a few games in the spring. We are going to hear Buck and Kencadee call games. Interesting

They say that the schedule is too inconsistent right now to post anything definitive, and that it will be more of an “as we get closer to each day” kind of thing. Pretty lame if you ask me.

Here’s the quote from their support forum:
“The listing of available games depends on which games will have network coverage. Not all games are covered and networks may adjust their schedules before the game and choose not to air it. This is why not all Spring Training games are available, and why we cannot post a coverage schedule far in advance to the games.”

Good to know, Braves Fanatic. It will be useful to me on MLB Network since I don’t have CSS.

Man I hope MLB Network doesn’t black out the Braves spring training games because I do not get CSS. I have Time Warner cable and obviously Comcast Sports Net will not be available on there.

Anyone heard if the regular season games that are broadcast by Peachtree TV will be carried by DirecTV in HD outside of the Atlanta area? Last year we only got SD for these games.

the comments on here are just too funny!!! there are 5 sentences in this report, and so far, there’s been 10 different takes on what was written..example, the third sentence states that MLB Network will air TOMORREOW’s opener, and Marc D, the first blogger on here, says that DOB left that out and lets it be known where the game can be seen. Then Mr. Me states “i looked up MLB network for today……are you sure DOB? Brian lets us know CSS is not on DirectTV or Dish, then redstick follows that up with “what channel is CSS on Direct TV?” just too funny…

just an fyi CSS is a comcast sports channel, ie not on direct TV. Another reason why not to have Direct TV.

I have DirecTV and won’t change because of the Braves coverage. In the Nashville area, we don’t get the local PeachTree games without a package. BUT, DTV has a BRVS channel in my area that has all the PeachTree games!! It’s like a Braves package without the extra $$$. Many of the CSS games are also on the BRVS channel. The only games I missed last year due to TV programming were those on Saturday afternoons when dear ole FOX decided to broadcast some other team.
