Daybed: Yes, The Man Comes Around was one of the last songs he wrote. Most of those songs on the American Recordings albums were covers — brilliant covers. But he wrote that one.

I agree with Vitale (shocking, I know) in his analysis that Bledsoe, while could be a drafted in the 1st round, should stay. It would benefit him to have one more year working on his assist/turnover ratio and be a little more consistent with his shot.
DOB, don’t get me wrong. I loved No Country. I guess I’m just more a fan of the “quirky” Coen movies. My favorites are Lebowski, Fargo, Raising Arizona, Miller’s Crossing, etc. I think they’re worst movie is better than some directors’ best. I haven’t disliked any of their films. I just think A Serious Man was more of a return to form, I guess. Wouldn’t be in my top 5 Coen movies, but I would put it in top 10, maybe slightly ahead of No Country.
DOB- Sorry I’ve been out of town and maybe you have talked about this. How is Mitch Jones doing and how is Glaus hitting? Does he seem to have his power back after shoulder surgery?
kentucky has shown just how big of a fluke their only loss was tonight. too bad kansas doesn’t play tenn again. i’m about 90 percent sure they would lose to them again.

Actually, I think all of that LA rain we’re getting, is playing havok with the TV. Lost a station, earlier, for a short time. Now, NBC just went down for the 2nd time. It’s back, but I missed Ms. Flatt’s (sp?) results of her skating. You can let me know in about 3 hours.
I have no idea what pasando means (VJ just pointed out that you spelled havoc wrong) I can tell you how Rachel did if you want- I am watching on the computer (at least the scores). And just so you know, it was beautiful today- breezy, sunny and rather warm so don’t blame your 9 feet of snow on us
AustinBrave: Glaus has looked good in BP, at least againt the coaches (to be honest, none of the hitters have looked good against the real pitchers this early, but they almost never do for the first days of spring training). I haven’t seen Mitch Jones hit yet because he’s been on back field and I’ve stayed on the main field. Asked Cox about him, since the manager went back and watched those young guys and six-year minor league free agents hit today. He was impressed by him and especially by Freddie Freeman.
Cox said today of Freeman: “He’s gonna be a real good major leaguer – and not far away.”…
Lexbrave: Be honest, you really don’t know much at all about hoops, do you? Oh, well. You’ve got a strong team to pull for, at least. But you could learn a thing or two from Heath and others who are more than blind homers with no real knowledge of the other great programs.
I know quite a few Kentucky fans — work with a couple of them, know a few others who work for the Braves or work out in the same gym as me, etc. I think you’re the only one I’ve ever met that follows UK but has no clue about college basketball outside of your conference.
I am assuming you are saying you like the Sierra Nevada mountains…or the beer…both of which are excellent- family has a place in the mountains and I drink plenty of the beer
(my 7th grade spanish is rather limited these days…try french perhaps?)
Of the good teams…I least want to watch SU. While they play in the zone defense better than anyone, I find myself uninterested in that style. They make it work, no doubt, but just not interesting style of play for me. Not sure how you feel about that…but that is my two cents on that team.
cabravesfan, pasando = happening. If you’re going to speak the language, try to understand it.
I remember when “Rachel” once posted that, “I never correct spelling, except in extreme circumstances, other than for a certain So. Cal. lady” (paraphrasing)
I can only assume that he found havoc to be an “extreme circumstance”.
Oh, 9 feet of snow is more like 9 inches of water. And I wasn’t blaming it on you. Around these parts, LA means Lower Albany. C’mon , try to keep up.
cab………..at one time I was in law enforcement……had so many Mexican migrants…..they would get arrested and spend weeks in jail because no one knew how to speak their language to tell them how to get out……took it upon myself to learn enough Spanish so they could post bond……but my less than 7th grade Spanish didn’t do enough…..my parents raised me to be better than that.

When did I ever talk up the SEC? All I said was that KU and UK had the most talent with regard to UK. Heck, I was even disagreeing that KU would lose again to UT. I think maybe you read incorrectly.

cabravesfan alluded to (and exaggerated to bust my buns) all the snow we’ve received. She said 9 feet. Because of the temperature, we’ve received, and still are, mostly rain. So I converted her 9 ft. on snow into 9 in. of rain. Capiche?
The next time, I may not have this much time on my hands. You may have to read.

you could easily run into a eighth seeded team like pitt, or conn.
i have watched the cats all year. their half court offense is average. you have a point guard that wants to score. in transiton nobody can match you, but in slow half court game?

Anybody catch that Amy Winehouse concert that Palladia is running this week?
Dig her tunes, and she has an “I can’t look away” quality about her. Not saying she’s hot, because she’s actually kind of manly, but she’s interesting.
But that woman is a human train wreck. I’ve never been so uncomfortable watching somebody perform. It literally looked like she had the shakes on stage. Her straps on her shirt kept falling off her shoulders. At one point it looked as though she was going to cough up a lung, in between verses of a song. So what did she do to solve it? Looked she took a huge shot of Jagermeister.
It sounded like she was singing in “tongues”. I’ve seen her live on Leno and all the talk shows, I’ve seen clips of her here and there but this was frickin horrible. If I’m her management, I do my best to make sure that never airs again.
It had the appeal of a guy standing on the ledge of a building, threatening to jump. I knew I shouldn’t be watching it, because I might be scarred for life….. yet couldn’t turn the channel.
I’ve done the drive up the coast through Big Sur, Monterey, Pebble, etc. Stunning drive Also seen the James Dean site- have a cousin that lives not too far from there. Lots of beauty on the West Coast
Got tickets to the Nova/Cuse game at the Dome. I was there the last time they broke the attendance record against Nova in G-Mac’s last game. Best atmosphere I have ever seen a game in. I thought I would never see it topped, but it looks like Saturday will be even crazier. No better place to watch a game than the Dome when it’s rockin’.
cab…..I would live in Big Sur……if I had a skill that would net me enough money to pay my bills. People that have never seen the Rockies or the Coastal Mountains do not know what they are missing……live your east coast life……but make time for the west coast..before you die, go to Yellowstone…..what a transcendt place.
People that have never seen the Rockies or the Coastal Mountains do not know what they are missing……live your east coast life……but make time for the west coast..before you die, go to Yellowstone…. SALT LIFE
amen, great advice. Course Niagara is in the east and it’s pretty great too especially from the Canadian side.
All I have said is that UK and KU have the most talent…nothing more, nothing less. Not sure why it seems you think I have said something else. I have no doubt that if UK played in the Big East, since you mentioned that league, they would have lost a couple more games. That, however, doesn’t change their level of talent. With regard to a weaker league (the SEC being behind the Big East, Big 12, Big 10 and ACC), I don’t think it is the end of the world. Memphis, when Cal was there, hardly ever lost in their league, and they performed well in the tournament when they had this level of talent. Heck, Gonzaga and Butler play in lower-tier leagues and can, with the right match-ups, make deep runs. I think the “my league is tougher than yours” argument is, frankly, tired and irrelevant. The regular season is all about improving and positioning yourself (UK has done fine in both regards). All the rest doesn’t matter. What matters are the match-ups in the bracket.
nolie……..next summer I will tick off the last of the lower 48 on the bike…..and yes, I will ride to Niagra…and Acadia…….and through the streets of Boston……never been..my parents say Maine is absolutely gorgeous.
It is Salt. Good for you. I’ve been to all 50 over the years but couldn’t ride my bike to Hawaii. Actually only about 30 states on a bike, the rest by car. It’s a beautiful country no doubt.
Oh, and Heyward’s size….so what? Sure, he has the ability to hit more homers if he gets a hold of one, but that thing– this ain’t AA. These pitchers make a living keeping you off balance.
I’m telling you all–this has Francoeur written all over it.
uga……I hate the sec……..I hope all but UGA fail……we have to beat them on a consistent basis….fla? I’d rather eat my own pooh……tenn?……hope that fault line under them ruptures……….saban?…hope he goes to pooh, falls through his a$$ and hangs himself….btw I have good friends that are fans of those schools…….except fla…I would never associate with anyone that likes fla.
nolie– you guys have my love. That’s why I’m preaching about not getting your hopes up on this Heyward. They’ll be some shattered dreams if this kid turns out Frenchy part duex.
No worries, I am last on the list to quote numbers from the RPI or SOS or ABC or whatever. UK is young, yes. UK, along with KU, has the most superior talent…yes. I happen to think that UK has more raw talent than anyone, but I think they are more beatable than KU (whom I think is the best “team”). UK could very easily lose this weekend to Tennessee. It is a rivalry game, and UT have already proven that when just about averything goes right they can beat the best of teams (KU). So, I won’t be too upset about a loss. With regard to losses, I typically don’t believe that team “needs” to lose a game or anything like that most of time. This team, however, I think the loss to Carolina was probably good for the team…their confidence had been changin’ over to over-confidence. With all the talk of the Freshmen on and Sophmores (Miller, Liggins, and Dodson), I still think that Patterson is the key to whether or not UK does well in the tournament. If he plays like he has the last three games, that frees up Cousins even more and they can really dominate as a tandem.
Man, I think it’s good that I’m way above sea level. A few local network affiliate stations, were going on and off. Now, they’re both off. Also, some other local stations went down. I haven’t checked them all, just went to satellite music. However, I lost my internet connection, briefly, and had to reboot.
“What in the wide, wide, wide world of sports is a goin’ on here?”
Jason could very well turn into a plus plus guy and soon. But he hasn’t proved a thing yet is all I’m saying. I choose not to listen to some who say he’s a different animal than Frenchy was coming up through the system. Personally, I almost have to set myself up for the same disappointment if Heyward becomes a bust in Atlanta like Jeff did.
They’ll be some shattered dreams if this kid turns out Frenchy part duex. Mike
I’ve seen them both play, there is little comparison. I don’t know how great Heyward will be, but I’ll bet a somewhat sizable sackful of shekels that he is better than Jeffy
I’m sure this is well-known around here, but being fairly new to the bloggage….Where is Carroll? When does she begin her work with the Braves and begin to spell DOB from working himself into a coffee-induced coma?
dave i think you of all people shouldnt call someone out for being a homer. and to say im clueless just proves that point. im willing to bet ive watched kansas play more than youve seen kentucky play this year. you know how i know that? because if you had, you could check your pride and admit that kentucky puts more talent on the floor than kansas does. and if you dont believe me just wait and see how many jayhawks get drafted over kentucky players in the next draft.

Yikes.

Jason could very well turn into a plus plus guy and soon. But he hasn’t proved a thing yet is all I’m saying. dave i think you of all people shouldnt call someone out for being a homer. and to say im clueless just proves that point. im willing to bet ive watched kansas play more than youve seen kentucky play this year. you know how i know that? because if you had, you could check your pride and admit that kentucky puts more talent on the floor than kansas does. and if you dont believe me just wait and see how many jayhawks get drafted over kentucky players in the next draft.
