Busy caps, busy ‘park name

Braves' new spring training cap for 2010. (mlb.com)

Braves' new spring training cap for 2010. (mlb.com)

Braves players seemed unimpressed (or worse) with the team’s new spring-training caps, which are navy blue with white vertical-stripe piping on each side of the crown and more white piping on the back. The familiar script “A” on front is white with red trim, and the brim of the cap also has another raised accent stripe in navy blue.

It’s a bit of a busy look, and the Braves be wearing it throughout spring training and during regular-season batting practice, if MLB forces them to (the spring training/BP caps are designed by MLB for all teams)…

Another  difference this spring here at Dark Star is the name of the Braves’ home ballpark, which has been changed from Champion Stadium at Disney’s Wide World of Sports to Champion Stadium at ESPN Wide World of Sports.

Yeah, Dark Star works better for me, too.

Do you like the new cap?

Hopefully the Braves will have a successful spring that way you could have the thrill of victory at the ESPN Wide World of Sports, because the place is so big you will definitely have the agony of de(feet).

This is a new format they’re debuting, where all notes newsy items go to the blog, so to speak. Even though they’re not as long or as opinion-laced as the actual main blog.

But we can comment on everthing this way, I guess. And some people who usually go to the blog only, will not have direct links to this other stuff they might have been missing before.

We’re also gonna have minor league updates each night, at least at home games where we plan to have two writers at every game.

Dave, it has the look of a little league Braves copy. I am disappointed that the braves keep introducing new uniforms changes. The Yankees and Dodgers, Dallas Cowboys will never change and the Braves are in that group in my biased opinion……..Dave, on my way to Iraq for my third tour. I enjoy your insight on the Bravos and look forward to following the braves on the internet from Iraq. Good Luck Bobby and GO Braves. The Braves along with my family play an important role in my morale.

And miss out on more merchandise revenue, Braves Historian? Not as long as I’m here!

However, as thanks to all you loyal Turner Field visitors, we’ve lowered our beer prices to $12 per 6oz. Plus, our foot-long rubber hot dogs are now only $9!!

DOB,
Doesn’t MLB sort of regulate the base look on these batting practice and spring training hats and uniforms. Whereas, all teams must have the same type of base design. I beleive all the MLB teams have new BP hats that look the same and all of their jerseys are designed similarly if im not mistaken.

Rex, you are correct. The folks at MLB basically force them to wear them, although MLB relented when the Braves said they didn’t want to wear those ugly red insets above the ears during batting practice in regular season.

The BP caps are all for nothing. They may wear them in spring training, but the Braves are different than most teams during the regular season. They always wear the hat they’re wearing for that night’s game during BP; and Bobby just wears whatever hat he feels like it. One Sunday home game last year I remember them showing Bobby in the dugout and he had the regular home hat on, lol. Oh well, the man can do what he wants!

All MLB teams sport different hats in the spring. Same design with the piping and such

I’d like to see Atlanta use the Mississippi Braves hat. It has a red crown, and blue bill.
