I love the Olympics (I’m a dork, I know… but hey, I love ‘em.)

N8–Certainly enjoyed browsing through your work and particularly like the “barefoot bride” in Wedding 2.
Though I have been shooting since the age of 15, I am just now about to make the leap to a nice, digital SLR,(probably Canon or Nikon) and I have a question for you: How do I duplicate the properties of favorite films–say the grain and reddish tint of Kodachrome 25 / 64 or the greenish, “velvet” characteristics of Fuji– with a digital camera?
If the answser is too involved for this space, kindly point me elsewhere.

McFann–Those are some beautiful shots of the snow and I enjoyed the “Wild Kingdom” shots as well. One cane certainly tell you have a great love of animals.
Educate me here: is Francois I a hamster or a gerbil?

I like the Summer Olympics better too, but I really enjoy the whole national aspect of the Olympics in general.

Given how many people hated the WBC I may be in the minority on this, but I would’ve liked to have seen MLB pull an NHL and suspend play for a couple weeks every 4 years so players could participate. I know it would mess with pitching schedules, staying sharp, etc but I think the Olympics transcend MLB.

Of course, all this is a moot point now.

if the reports of the Tiger’s offer to Damon are accurate, I am shocked he has not officially taken the offer. To get that 2 year deal is nothing short of magic by Boras. Unless he would rather go somewhere else than Detroit and is hoping the other team(s) will up their offer to close to Detroit’s I just don’t see what the hold up is.

jeffrey d, you forgot greed. There’s no way the owners would give up 2 weeks of revenue. Hockey only plays 2-3 games a week. They can make up the difference by playing 3-4 games per week. Baseball can’t do that. They’d have to play double headers, to make up some, and also shorten the season.
As a fan, I agree with you. I’d like to see that too.

Shanks – “Persian” can generally mean someone coming from the Persian Gulf region (pretty much the Middle East). While the Persian language and culture has a lot of its population in Iran, it has kind of become synonymous with Islamic/Middle Eastern culture.

It’s like the term “Hispanic.” “Hispanic” is supposed to mean somebody from Hispania (Spain) but people now use it to refer to pretty much anybody from Latin America.
