hey, since we’re talking college hoops. what do you guys think about that guard at Oklahoma St.? think his name is Anderson. I haven’t heard of him, but seen him play against Texas. Thought he was the best player on the court.
You’d almost have to get drunk to enjoy that whopper now, Thrillhouse. Seriously, that’s the first one I’ve had in like 4 or 5 years and it caught me off guard. Expensive too … everything seems to be getting more expensive by the month. Sad.
hey, since we’re talking college hoops. what do you guys think about that guard at Oklahoma St.? think his name is Anderson. I haven’t heard of him, but seen him play against Texas. Thought he was the best player on the court.
James Anderson from Junction City, AR…population 721 (right down the road from me.) It’s extrememly painful for me to watch him burning up the Big 12 in an OK St. uniform instead of owning the SEC West in Razorback Red. He’s a local celebrity considering the small hometown that he’s from.
lpad, it’s not as much dob being a kansas homer as it is some folks around here being a dob homer. i mean it’s just an opinion folks..it’s ok to have and debate/defend your own differing one.
Hillbilly, I can see why that would hurt. But man, he looks real good. Definitely, looked like he could be a complete wing player in the pros. Do you know how he ended up there?
755 club, which for some reason I referred to as the 400 club last night, is VERY nice. I would recommend you check it out…but as far as watching a game from there…not so much. Unless you want to eat dinner and maybe get a table with a view, and they limit the amount of time you can sit there (an hour, i think) so don’t think you can sit there for an entire game…
Ipad,
OSU assistant coach at the time, James Dickey had strong ties to Anderson’s high school basketball coach. Dickey was on him since his 10th grade year and Anderson was also friends with the Sutton family. Stan Heath did all he could to pry Anderson away, but the Hogs never had a prayer.
My father was a member through his work (corporate thing). We used to go down and have dinner, good food. This was at Fulton Co. and Ted came over several times and chatted briefly with us. He only did this because me and Dad were the only people in there.
I don’t know if I can have a sit-down during a ball game. But since I’m going with the folks, wife, and baby, it might be nice to try out. Thanks for the input.
I’ve never met Scottie, but when I lived in Atlanta, I knew a lot of people that knew him from their Athens, Alabama days (don’t know where his family is now, which is why I asked you where you lived). Everyone speaks very highly of him.
No chance for you in that compo, darlin’. Posting a single post of even semi-readability is an automatic disqualification, and you flew over that bar long ago.
not sure how they will setup the 755 club this year (they change the format all the time) but it is certainly nice especially with a little one. Place to get them out of the weather and I’ve never been asked to leave. I think there is a time limit just never seen it enforced.
Yo DOB, check out this tasty tune. Florence + The Machine – Cosmic Love.
My input on the Damon situation(if there even is one). Is that we could use him pretty badly. Because, as much I love Bobby and wish this were not his final year, McLouth will again sit at the top of the lineup if we don’t happen to add someone before the season. If it takes a two year deal to get him then give it to him. We can always trade McLouth when Jordan is ready.
I hope dude isn’t on sabbatical over that deal with ‘OB. I mean, I thought Random was bein’ an ass, but I’m all but certain I’d had that thought before. Take it on the chin, find three of my posts from last August, and let me have it. For old times’ sake, at least.
As an aside, I think the only reason I brought you up this time, TnBrian (other than your usual), was that you accused that dude of being Random. He so clearly isn’t, and I found it amusing that you acted like there couldn’t be two of us, or even maybe three, that think your stuff is… less than stellar.
Who here among us thinks the Yankees will repeat as World Series Champs? I do. Why do the other teams even bother?
Yeah, I don’t think the Yankees will repeat. These days, it’s so hard to repeat as champs, and a big reason for that is health. Last year, the Yankees had 7 of their 9 lineup regulars play 140+ games, not to mention 4 of their starting pitchers start 30+ games. One of the two lineup regulars to play less than 140 games was the catcher (which is pretty standard), and the other was A-Rod*, who I heard had a pretty decent season anyway. That kind of health doesn’t usually click with that many guys that well, and I’d be surprised if most of their regulars can repeat that kind of healthy stay again in 2010.
I just had this horrible thought that just by mentioning You Know Who (sorry Chipper; 10 for RHR), dude’ll be back to inundate us with 200 hundred posts a day, for eternity.
I am quite sure that it has been mentioned before, so I am going to toss in my two cents on the matter.
If the Braves are to start off on the right foot, they must put Yunel Escobar in the third slot. A top of the order with McClouth, Prado, and Escobar is truly the right way to go. All three are good contact people (Prado and Escobar more so), and would serve as excellent table-setters for a healthy Glaus and McCann.
Whither Chipper?
If he is the team player he claims to be, he needs to realize that his days as a productive, consistently healthy number three are behind him. The fact that it is Bobby’s last season is not going to make Chipper a better number three than Escobar.
Chipper needs to hit behind McCann so an effective McCann can do his job – drive in runs. Chipper has enjoyed this benefit during his good run with solid number fours hitting behind him. A real team leader knows when his time is near, and how he can help his team the most. With Chipper at the sixth slot, he also helps a bottom of the order that has Cabrera and a combo of Hinske & Diaz (this assumption is based on Heyward starting the season at Gwinnett and coming up later in the season when the lineup has finished making its best chemistry). A mid-bottom of the order with those three is nothing to sneeze at, and makes for a truly balanced lineup, talent-wise.
Chipper, man up and do the right thing. Take the sixth slot and let Escobar begin the transition.
Yanks’ only waekness last year was pitching, and they fortified that in the offseason. Therefore, the baseball gods will either send every hitter in the lineup to the hospital with an almost-incurable disease, plus steal their swings and replace them with David Eckstein’s; or cause all their starters to suddenly visualize the strike zone as a coiled python and avoid it with all due haste. One or the other. Because the baseball gods have their own sense of fair play, not to mention strictly beaucoup evil senses of humor.
Hey, I need some help. With all the moves, I’m trying to figure out what the bullpen looks like now. Right now, I’ve got: Billy Wagner, Takashi Saito, Peter Moylan, Eric O’Flaherty, Kris Medlan, Jesse Chavez
and Mike Dunn. Or, possibly redmond might be there instead of one of these other guys.
What do you think? Am I missing someone? Did I accidentally promote someone who shouldn’t be there? I realize a certain amount of this won’t be decided until Spring Training…
3.) The Rock
2.) The Long Kiss Goodnight
1.) Billy Madison Fish
I like The Rock and Long Kiss Goodnight a lot but not top 10 IMO.
Billy Madison on the other hand is a really, truly stupid movie and I don’t think stupid is funny, stupid is just stupid.
One of the biggest reasons that I don’t care for most modern comedies.
Ohio Braves: Since Medlen represents the number one option as a starter should any of the starting five fall to injury, he’ll be at Gwinnett. Todd Redmond seems like he has a chance if he is up to the task. Jo-Jo Reyes is once again the Great Unknown; if he steps up as a starter, he’ll be a Gwinnett, and Medlen can be the long reliever, or setup guy if Redmond steps up and takes the long role.
I don’t think Bobby wants the mercurial Reyes in his final season unless he positively has to. Frankly, I’m glad Jo-Jo’s still a Brave. I have a hunch that he’ll turn a corner and be a top-notch no. 2-3 – once he grows up and realizes that he does not know more than his pitching coach.

Stan Heath did all he could to pry Anderson away, but the Hogs never had a prayer.

not sure how they will setup the 755 club this year (they change the format all the time) but it is certainly nice especially with a little one.
