Doggy- So next time you go to Sempre. BTW- Another good Italian joint out that way -Cafe La Strada. It’s one more exit east (#56) on the LIE two minutes south of the exit. Nothing to look at from the outside (strip mall type set up) but the food – awesome. If your mates know Sempre I’m sure they know this place too.

I have to admit, after jed said, “pink’s performance: is it art or is it porn? you could make an argument for either. good lord…she’s been spending a lot of time in the gym….i’ll give her that“, I almost went for the remote.

I know that the merits of Dave Matthews and his band have been discussed here before, but he has added some very good musicians to a band that already had a few. In addition to Tim Reynolds, there is Jeff Coffin from Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. He is an exceptional saxophonist.

You know who I feel bad for? The brain dead idiots like Beyonce, Taylor Swift and the like who actually think these Grammy awards mean something. You can so tell they are so excited and honored to be there, and are really hoping they win. It’s so embarrassing. Braveheart
Beyonce seems like a pretty shrewd businesswoman who is just using this as another step to expand her empire. I dont think she is exactly eagerly looking forward to winning as much Taylor Swift is. And Swift seems too young to be cynical about all this yet. A little more time and she will be Jaded enough to not give a s###. Talking about Swift, whats done Kanye done this year to steal the limelight?

If you watched 60 minutes tonight you would have heard that Beyonce made $80 mil this year. Her road show costs $1 mil a week to produce. You may not like her music or her personally but I’ll tell you what I’d sing whatever you wanted for that kind of dough.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fan of hers, but I respect what she’s accomplished. How could you not?

Anders, my father was from Montreal and a fan of their team. It was the only time I didn’t root for the same team as he did, in any sport. I was a Ranger fan. (Yeah, I know you’re a huge fan.Even my neighbor’s cat does.)
However, as I got older and busier, I couldn’t keep up with all my earlier interests. Hockey faded out. Now, I’ll look in the sport page, from time to time, just to see how they’re doing. Good luck!

Anders, my father used to take me to see RPI a lot, when I was a kid. The only NHL game I’ve ever seen, again when I was a kid, my father took me to the Garden. The Rangers played the Canadiens.

Ok, I know I’m going to get crap for this but oh well. I respect the hell out of DOB and ANYBODY’s view on music for that matter. I listen to all types of music and am very critical of music as well. I am only 24 so a lot of the references DOB makes I cannot comment on, but I have to defend newer music for a second. Some of my favorite bands are bands that many (hell maybe even all of you) have never heard of such as Thrice and Saves The Day but also listen to bands like Slipknot. Anyway my point that I want to make is that unlike 20 or 30 years ago, music is now about making money as much, if not more than is about loving your music. I respect all musicians because its almost like they have to “dumb down” their music in order to succeed. Don’t blame the artists, blame the industry itself.

well, i do think that is exactly the appeal of taylor swift. she’s a friendly-looking, harmless white, girl-next-door type. non threatening, basically. and if you’ve got kids, you can imagine that she’s a good role model. to me, it’s just sorta pathetic that that’s what it all comes down to.

I’m not sure if it really counted as Spanish- our teacher (who “taught” us until the students revolted and got her fired during 7th grade) was the mother of a student in the class above mine who got her teaching credential in Guatemala, which apparently meant she could teach Spanish…it didn’t. We used to take tests with our books open on our laps and ask her the answers to her test questions, which she would helpfully supply. Needless to say, my Spanish is about as good as my French
