Thanks, guys… (the universal usage of guys, Soph )
18 Wheels of Love
You know why the Grammy’s suck? Because mainstream music sucks. All of this crap on the tv tonight. Did see on DBT’s Twitter where the Booker T record won a Grammy but I havent heard that one.
January 31st, 20108:56 pm
Village People 2.0 on the Grammy’s. This is so terrible.
Steve from OH
January 31st, 20108:59 pm
People still watch the Grammys? With the mainstream music out there today?
I’d rather watch paint dry…
January 31st, 20109:01 pm
the grammys try to dazzle the eyes b/c their top sellers cant dazzle the ears. for example, this black eyed peas song is ready-made for a beer commercial.
January 31st, 20109:02 pm
I would rather watch the Jammys
Baseball Intellect’s top 15 Braves prospects were:
Gotta be a subscriber to read the scouting reports, which I ain’t…
January 31st, 20109:04 pm
(referring to the blackeyed peas) “village people 2.0″ –18 wheels
January 31st, 20109:05 pm
“You can’t stop the Music”
“In the navy…”
good as Milli Vanilli or FERGIE FUGLY
January 31st, 20109:06 pm
I can’t understand any possible way Damon would be a good fit with the Braves. 1) We already have a decent leadoff hitter (McLouth) with another guy (Schafer) wating in the wings at that position, 2) We already have enough lefhanded hitters, 3) if we acquire another outfielder, it should be one with power since none of our current outfielders have great power (plus the power hitting first baseman we signed is an injury risk). I would much rather let guys like Schafer, Heyward, Diaz, etc. play than watch another over the hill outfielder (like G. Anderson). There is a reason certain players are currently marked down on the clearance rack, while the really good players have already signed.
January 31st, 20109:07 pm
I agree with those who aren’t enjoying this year’s grammys. How many times do we need to hear that overplayed black eyed peas song (although Fergie isn’t unpleasant to look at)? I guess tonight’s not going to be a good, good night watching the grammys.
January 31st, 20109:08 pm
Damon is a winner and has a certain jena se qua
January 31st, 20109:09 pm
I find some nice clothes on the clearance rack. In fact, I do quite a bit of shopping on that rack.
January 31st, 20109:10 pm
Anyone else find this Tebow/Senior Bowl talk funny? They keep ripping on how bad his NFL mechanics are.
January 31st, 20109:14 pm
joerochester, I also frequent the clearance rack or outlet stores when shopping. However, I don’t run a major league baseball team. We’ve already seen what a bargain basement LF is like, and it was pretty ugly. I don’t consider something a bargain if it’s poor quality – I like to find good quality items at a discount price.
January 31st, 20109:15 pm
Well, if you’re shopping the clearance section at Goodwill, you’ll find the Garrett Anderson’s, but if you go to the GAP you might get a quality item.
January 31st, 20109:19 pm
The question is, would you want to see the Braves pay out $7 million, or so, for his ” jena se qua”?
Alright, some love for Kings of Leon.
Did you know Uno’s Chicago Grill filed for bankruptcy?
January 31st, 20109:22 pm
DOB – does it make you feel any better about the Grammys that KOL won Record of the Year? Or is it just too far gone for that to matter?
January 31st, 20109:25 pm
The biggest fracking joke of the Gammies?
All the musicians up there holding their instruments…no one is playing anything, it’s all piped in and pony. Seriously all they need up there is the performer and a computer. Even a cool thing like old school Doug E. Fresh and Slash looks lame. Sad.
” jena se qua”?
that was painful to read I can only assume that was supposed to be french?
January 31st, 20109:26 pm
Tom – he will sign with Bobby for about 5.5 for 2010……………. now do we need him or want him
OK – the Jamie Foxx performance answered my own question. Too far gone.
January 31st, 20109:27 pm
So far, it’s the worst Grammy Awards show I can remember. The performances tonight have been a new level in mediocrity and grotesque excess.
There, was that elitist enough? (But it’s true.)
January 31st, 20109:30 pm
They get worse every year. It’s not music any more, just noise and pomp and little circumstance.
Grammy’s are for the rich folks. Pretty soon, the MTV awards will get that way and it’s almost there. It’s like the popular vote.
jj where you been lately? Did your parents catch you staying up all night posting?
I found this wonderful thing called a… girlfriend again. You should all look into getting one.
I’ve just been really busy with school, theatre, and life.
Who won for best metal album?
January 31st, 20109:32 pm
Alice Cooper, seriously, is about 5′5″
January 31st, 20109:33 pm
18 Wheels of Love,
just wondered if you’d been close enough to really have a first hand opinion of how bad the hygiene
I knew her close enough or I wouldn’t have said it.probably shouldn’t have anyway. even 40 years later you shouldn’t talk bad of tjhe dead I guess.. she certainly wasn’t the onliest offbeat person in those groups.
January 31st, 20109:34 pm
Virginia was up by 18 with under 3 minutes to go at UNC. No, really.
January 31st, 20109:35 pm
Hard to see UNC in the tourney now….it’s still possible, but got a lot of work to do. Sorry, Soph.
that was painful to read I can only assume that was supposed to be french? —- cabravesfan
I don’t know. Ask the Austrailian guy. (No, not Moylan)
Tom – he will sign with Bobby for about 5.5 for 2010……………. now do we need him or want him —- dogsbrekky
The reason I came up with $7, is because he just turned down $6 from the Yankees. Of course, if he keeps turning down offers, he may have to either retire, or take a lot less.
Personally, I wouldn’t want him on the Braves, unless his price was a lot cheaper.
January 31st, 20109:37 pm
That’s cool, Jurrjens. Kind of shocking they got Ozzie to go there….no offense, just many high profile types stick to the big city places on book tour.
January 31st, 20109:38 pm
I think he turned down that offer from the Yankees because he didn’t want to walk into that locker room making half what he did last year, especially when players like Nick Swisher are making just about the same.
Where do you live?
January 31st, 20109:39 pm
You are a hoot.
The question is, would you want to see the Braves pay out $7 million, or so, for his ” jena se qua”? TOM
I assume y’all mean je ne sais qua?? I think it’s overpriced
and why are you blaming your bad french on an Aussie?
That Zac Broan song sounds a lot like an early 80’s Alabama tune, Dixieland Delight.
January 31st, 20109:40 pm
“If there’s a tear on my face… makes me shiver to the bone… it shakes the bed…. just a heartache”
“that got caught in my eye………… and you know…….. I Never Cry……. I Never Cry…sometimes I drink more than I need………… until the tv’s dead and gone…”
Love Alice C
January 31st, 20109:41 pm
It’s actually Je ne sais quoi, but at least you were mostly right, unlike someone
January 31st, 20109:42 pm
just noise and pomp and little circumstance. 18
more like a little rock & a circumcision
I’ve always thought that these awards shows would be better if they were presented by Mystery Science Theater.
January 31st, 20109:43 pm
nolie – spelling in French, schmelling in French… my spelling all languages……………. sux
January 31st, 20109:44 pm
and why are you blaming your bad french on an Aussie?
Funny stuff, cabravesfan. I’m really glad you’re feeling better.
January 31st, 20109:45 pm
Thank God for Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin on a night when the other options were the Pro Bowl (good Lord no) and the Grammys (more self-inflated egos don’t need me paying attention to them).
January 31st, 20109:47 pm
It’s actually Je ne sais quoi, CBF
you’re right, it’s been 40 years but that’s no excuse
That is one of the few french phrases I remember after 5 years of the language in high school and college
If it makes you feel better, I did have to look up the proper spelling
It’s je ne sais quois.
But I don’t know what it means.
At least, that’s what two quarters of French at 13th grade taught me, monsieur.
January 31st, 20109:48 pm
It’s been 40 years but I’m pretty sure it’s quoi not quois.
January 31st, 20109:50 pm
Don’t you find it interesting, if you make a spelling mistake in english, no one cares? However, make one in french, and the entire blog is on you.
dammit! It’s posting too early again!
OH eff the frogs and their crappy language (but I love the food)
Tom – I speak 6 languages fluently, and know the swearwords in at least 12
but I do NOT like the Frogs, except for their food !
“tsao nee MA shaaa bee” please do NOT translate)
January 31st, 20109:51 pm
True that DOB. True that.
I don’t even care for the food that much, I much prefer Italian. And the damn Frogs are rude as they can be to Americans, at least they used to be, even not too long after we saved their silly arses from the Germans.
January 31st, 20109:53 pm
She (Taylor Swift) ain’t no Stevie Nicks.
Brandon from Warner Robins
That was brutal….
You know who I feel bad for? The brain dead idiots like Beyonce, Taylor Swift and the like who actually think these Grammy awards mean something. You can so tell they are so excited and honored to be there, and are really hoping they win. It’s so embarrassing.
You can tell alot of the acts are like, whatever, who cares, doesn’t mean anything, let’s just show up, put on a little show or maybe even an over the top one if that’s what they ask us to do, keep our name out there from a marketing standpoint, don’t make too much of a douche of ourselves, get an award if we get one and be fake gracious about it, if not just clap, mix and mingle, get to meet some interesting folks we might be able to work with later, and so on.
But these braindead people like Beyonce are hilarious to watch and listen to when they talk about the Grammys because they so don’t get what the whole darn thing is about. They really think it’s about honoring the best, and not just another marketing gimmick.
The funniest thing last year was that Beyonce, Swift, Kanye, and Jay-Z actually gave a sh!t who won an MTV award. There is nothing more meaningless than the MTV awards. MTV doesn’t even pretend their awards mean anything. But these fools were fighting over it. That’s how dumb they are.
January 31st, 20109:54 pm
That Stevie Nicks/Taylor Swift duet was just awful. I may just have to check out the pro bowl.
Is Stevie Nicks there?
I am watching “Secrets of Aspen”…………… now there is a hot show (NOT)
Zac Brown Band easily the top performance of the night thus far. Way to represent.
Hey look it’s Rosaleen.
I predicted DOB’s smack down of Ms. Swift apparently.
January 31st, 20109:55 pm
My dad (who was Irish as real whisky and Waterford crystal) taught me a Chinese phrase, the one he and his derelict buddies used to yell into the Chinese laundry near the projects where he grew up.
The last word translated as you.
The first word? It wasn’t forget, por favor.
Zac Brown Band rules!! I’m still kicking my own butt for not going to see them when they were playing the Beef O’Brady’s around my part of North Georgia. I mean, that was only about 3 years ago, I love those Dahlonega boys!
January 31st, 20109:57 pm
I wish they would fix this board and it’s inverting posts. It’s really easy to miss a response when it gets misplaced berore what it responded to.
Oh, God, Usher so wants to be Michael Jackson, and he so misses the mark
January 31st, 20109:58 pm
The new benefit single should be called..We Are The Worst
January 31st, 20109:59 pm
Steve Nicks is a goat.
January 31st, 201010:00 pm
And a question about Micheal Jackson in 3-D?
Will he really reach out and touch you?
It’s just too bad Micheal Jackson left that 600 lb gorilla in the room concerning his extra curricular habits. Makes it tough to truly glorify him. At least for me. Glorify might not be the right word but I think you know what I mean.
January 31st, 201010:01 pm
Anders, it’s part of his legacy unfortunately. What a weird dude.
January 31st, 201010:04 pm
18 Wheels – That 10:00 wasn’t very nice with his kids in the room. Hilarious -yes, but not very nice.
January 31st, 201010:05 pm
Oddly enough…Leonard Nemoy’s insistance not to be “cameo” but and intrigal part of the new movie has probably helped the movie establish a base from which future movies can be derived. Now they don’t have to “recreate” the old series since there is and alternate reality…
This = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cgbvRmJsmg is what a real band woud do to the Emmys Stage after 2.30
January 31st, 201010:07 pm
Wow, I really liked the 3D Michael Jackson tribute. Maybe things will pick up on this show.
You are posting comments too quickly. Slow down. (Blog Police)
I say no. If I wanted to place an ad in their paper every few minutes I’m guessing they wouldn’t ask me to slow down.
January 31st, 201010:08 pm
I didn’t type that until his kids were off the stage so it was OK. But I probably could have worded it better/funnier.
When I was a kid, I loved Michael, guy had so much talent with a capital T. what an effing waste, just like Whip….me
Bon Jovi. really? Yep, Tico Torres still has his Don Sutton curls. And what a terrible song.
January 31st, 201010:10 pm
Fred- After about 2 hours this show is where the Mets were late last August – Just not enough time to save the day. Know what I mean?
January 31st, 201010:11 pm
18 Wheels – No, you nailed it. Wouldn’t change a thing.
I think he turned down that offer from the Yankees because he didn’t want to walk into that locker room making half what he did last year, especially when players like Nick Swisher are making just about the same. —- joerochester
That’s a good point, I’m sure his ego played a huge part in his turning down their offers. But what do you think he’s gonna do now? It’s doubtful that any team offers him that much in the future.
January 31st, 201010:12 pm
Anders – so we get to Marios FRI night and our mates walk in and say “Our mum really prefers Sempre Vivolo”..
I still play my Buckingham/Nicks vinyl. You had to be there.
Good stuff Anders. And did Bon Jovi get permission from Darius Rucker before he attempted to pull the country cross-over?
January 31st, 201010:13 pm
Wow, this wasn’t cool 20 years ago.
January 31st, 201010:15 pm
Bon Jovi. really?
Now Bon Jovi is playing? Good Lord. I’m really glad I don’t watch this stuff.
BH, did you really need all that to tell us that Beyonce, Jay-Z and Kanye are stupid? We already know that, I think. LOL!
Doggy – Get back to you in a minute. Bon Jovi’s taking me back to my college days right now. Where is that funnel?
So, so painfully bad.
January 31st, 201010:17 pm
Mos Def on the Chappelle Show was classic.
January 31st, 201010:18 pm
Bon Jovi is heading down that Mick Jagger creased face avenue. Wait about 10 years. Won’t be pretty. And was that Anne Murray out there with him? Yeesh.
Marlins might sign Gregg to be the setup man…
I really REALLY hope Philly signs him.
January 31st, 201010:19 pm
How ’bout a good song to cheer the denizens?
January 31st, 201010:20 pm
Hey, did anybody write down that address where I can download performances from tonight’s show? I raced into the room to get a pen but missed it.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
