3 minutes into the game and I can’t listen to Vitale anymore
He makes Chip sound as smooth as Barry White
Brandon from Warner Robins
January 23rd, 20109:11 pm
I was kidding.
January 23rd, 20109:16 pm
In about 30 minutes…only Roddick will be left in the AO on the men’s side.
I told my Clemson friend I couldn’t take much more Vitale. She responded “Is he the one who sounds like he’s dying?”
January 23rd, 20109:17 pm
Brandon from WR…
Oh Ok bro sorry if I sounded offensive… but Man I can’t stand the WWE over the last 5 years I’d rather watch TNA…
And Hogan is Back, he is desperate for money….
January 23rd, 20109:19 pm
Its no problem lol
I gave up on wraslin when Sting betrayed WCW and went with NWO.
Nova Scotia Steve
She’s a slow January night around here this evening folks…
January 23rd, 20109:20 pm

I must say that it is kinda odd to be rootin’ for a Georgia Dawg…(Isner).
January 23rd, 20109:22 pm
Heath – I didn’t even know he went to Georgia. I know we’ve always had a top tennis program, but the only alum I could tell you was Luis Flores. Don’t ask me why that’s the one I know.
January 23rd, 20109:23 pm
Murray serving for the match….
Rasslin was good back then when WWF and WCW on Monday Nights did higher ratings than Monday Night Football
I’m a big Nation and DX fan (The old Nation and DX)
January 23rd, 20109:25 pm
T’Hawkin – I watched WWF for a couple years in high school. Those DX vs. the Nation and DX vs. the Corporation angles were very well done.
Touch fouls. C’mon Ref!
January 23rd, 20109:27 pm
Murray yo-yoed Isner today. 3 sets to love. Murray took advantage of isner’s height by dropping volleys at the net all day…Isner was not able to over come a drop volley once in the match…not once.
January 23rd, 20109:33 pm
The Corporation vs DX, Stone Cold and The Union was Classic,,,! I watched my old Rasslin videos the other day and they still had me on edge…especially the Coprporate Rumble in 1999 before Rasslemania
What separates Rasslin from then and now is that back then the Rasslers could act and play roles…Now It’s just like reality TV and that is Garbage
And as much as I hate The McMahons, they were good actors back then,,,
I certainly hope that Mr Schafer confirms the Braves’ confidence, and that his obvious immaturity decisions have been remedied. I am neither optimistic nor pessimistic that his 2010 season – at any level is going to be productive of a division – let alone league or WS title. Why would any rational person make an assumption either way.
I do like this team – and, obviously, the acquisition of Johnny Daman would be a tremendous asset. Ownership does not involve a duty to spend beyond anticipated revenues, income and asset projections. Comments that Liberty “owes” this or that are absurd and ignorant. Would that they could find money in their projections to pay for a Damon or a Nady, but they couldn’t so – to use the shopworn expression -’get over it’.
I am suspicious of the the Wagner move (and the other guy – whose name I don’t remember- but understand the budget constraints that made these moves necessary. (Relief pitching (a misus). Melky, I believe, was a welcome addition – no power, but the rest of his skills are dependable.
So who else did we lose or gain? We did better, face it. Is it enough, probably not!
January 23rd, 20109:37 pm
And as much as I hate The McMahons, they were good actors back then
Because they were good at making you legitly hate them so much!
January 23rd, 20109:42 pm
agreed, Just like so many people hated the Rock back when he was with the Nation….
January 23rd, 20109:47 pm
I don’t know what’s worse…the level of play in the Duke-Clemson game… or Vitale. eek.
January 23rd, 20109:49 pm
The Nation VS DX rivalry was the best
Duke has played poor. Very poor.
January 23rd, 20109:51 pm
Duke/Clemson are on pace for a 50-49 game.
Vitale’s on pace for an 84% mute rate.
January 23rd, 20109:52 pm
I have proposed two projected lineups for the Braves faithful here(O’Brien is obviously a KU faithful which blows my mind why he isn’t writing columns for them, but….)Here goes:
Well sh”, I can’t figure which one’s better(sarcasm). You know the latter is better being much more balanced.
January 23rd, 20109:56 pm
Heath – Oliver Purnell used to coach ODU – that gives me a bad feeling, given what ODU has already done to me tonight…
January 23rd, 201010:01 pm
I’m hanging out in your old home town this weekend
January 23rd, 201010:03 pm
AttheMike why are you projecting a linup with Damon since you just said earlier he ws going to sign with the Yankees on monday or tuesday? So first last nigt you say you don’t make predictions about what will happen now you are predciting a line up with Damon whom you have said will sign with the Yankees. LOL
Shoot, even nady is an improvement over either one of cabrera or diaz. Matt is streaky and isn’t putting fear into any pitcher because he has very little power. I’m telling ya…. Wren will regret not getting another hitter for that outfield if the plan is in fact to go into the season as is. The question I have is WHY? He can find a trading partner for the versatile cabrera to free up some green for a damon or nady.I refuse to believe he cannot.
January 23rd, 201010:05 pm
O’Brien is obviously a KU faithful which blows my mind why he isn’t writing columns for them
Does that really blow your mind? I’d hate to see what happens if someone pulls the “Got yer nose!” trick on you.
Go back to nap time AtTheMike it’s past your bedtime
January 23rd, 201010:06 pm
He can find a trading partner for the versatile cabrera to free up some green for a damon or nady.I refuse to believe he cannot. AtTheMike
man your lack of knowledge knows no bounds
January 23rd, 201010:08 pm
At the Mike
I like Matty-D starting over Milky Cabrera
But I agree to some extent that our Cheap owners not getting a bat and settling for Slop will cost us!
January 23rd, 201010:09 pm
Cold Stove, look dork boy…. How is putting out a lineup of what looks very reasonable the same as being point blank about something like a lot here? If you had any sense you’d realize I am speaking out of frustration on them not getting Damon(yes, there still is a slight possibilty) bu possibility)
January 23rd, 201010:10 pm
Visting the river boat while there?
I think it’s pretty clear that AtTheMike is a, well we all know. SO I can see why very few respond to any of his moronic babble. And you can now count me in that group.
Steve from OH
January 23rd, 201010:11 pm
He can find a trading partner for the versatile cabrera to free up some green for a damon or nady.I refuse to believe he cannot.
That’s a pleasant fantasy, isn’t it? I’d like to see it, but I don’t think it’s happening…
January 23rd, 201010:13 pm
want to but the better 1/2 is exhausted and I don’t get to go out much without here…could go with her brother but he doesn’t have alot of cash so don’t want to mess with his finances ya know
how does someone say look dork boy and then ask a question? Normally I would say look dork boy and make a point.
January 23rd, 201010:15 pm
Cold Stove- why don’t you go back to posting at all hours of the night like we all know you will. You’ve butted your fat ass nose in my posts for no reason.
Tomahawkin- when there is non-stop moaning on here throughout the season AGAIN then don’t say some us didn’t give them a heads up. I know, I’m moaning myself here, but might as well prepare yourselves for what’s to come, right?
January 23rd, 201010:22 pm
But then again, Dayton Moore, Jim Hendry, and Omar Minaya all have jobs, so maybe we can pawn Melky off on someone…
January 23rd, 201010:27 pm
Much better now at Littlejohn…
January 23rd, 201010:28 pm
Don’t forget the Tigers’ GM
January 23rd, 201010:29 pm
At The Mike
Co-Sign on your last post…, I know I’m gonna be one of those throwning things at the TV when our offense gets shut-out by Garbage pitchers like Tim Redding among others as a result of our Owners not willing to spend money to address the offense just like last year, and expect fan attendance to go down again as a result
great my choices are staying in or going out wo a karoke bar…
January 23rd, 201010:30 pm
Steve from OH- it’d be nice, but we probably scratch the mets from that list since they just acquired matthews jr. However, I feel in ‘my opinion’ that a team would come forward for cabrera’s services.
What is it with this Cold Stove anyways? Prick seems like he needs a good old fashioned butt kickin. Arrogance through a computer is about as pathetic as it gets, imo.
January 23rd, 201010:31 pm
Steve From OH
You Think that we could dump Milky off to some team that might be desperate for him in S. Training?
I sure as hell hope so…
At least he drafts fairly well. Well, better than Hendry
January 23rd, 201010:32 pm
I doubt it, but it would be nice. I think the Cubs may be in the market for a CF yet, but I don’t know how well Melky would fit them, as he’s not a great defender in center and he can’t hit. But ya never know, it could happen. I just wouldn’t bet on it, that’s for sure.
January 23rd, 201010:33 pm
Just checked out the Clemson-Duke game score…glad I am watching Tennis instead. Doesn’t appear to be a good enough game to try and overcome the Vitalisms…
Arrogance through a computer is about as pathetic as it gets, imo
I think going to prom with your aunt would be more pathetic
January 23rd, 201010:34 pm
I’ve only seen Cold Stove on here for about a week or so…He’s cool, and he seems rational…
From what I heard they are trying to crack down on the 1-on-1 personal fights on here…just letting you know, I don’t want you to get Bozo’d (kicked off) from the blog
I think that D.O.B. maybe playing the Cadilliac-Pimp role at a rock concert tonight so I guess I have to play the Ricki Lake Role and settle people down when they get heated over a debate
January 23rd, 201010:35 pm
Anyway, I think Melky fits for us this year, as he is a good defender in the corners and has a strong throwing arm. Can’t hit, but is a nice 4th OF for 2010, since we should be playing McLouth-Diaz-Heyward for most of the year, hopefully with a bit of Schafer mixed in. But he’s certainly a nontender candidate for 2011, as he really doesn’t do any one thing all that well, and certainly isn’t worth 4-5MM to be a 4th OF, particularly with those stats and defense that isn’t top-notch.
January 23rd, 201010:36 pm
“Paul’s Boutique” was vastly underrated and ahead of its time. When I was in Best Buy the other day I almost bought that reasonably new Beastie live show they had their fans film (handed out 50 HD cameras and edited the best footage), but settled on Dream Theater’s “Chaos in Motion” DVD instead. Hey, it was only a $25 gift card.
January 23rd, 201010:38 pm
Grinch–Dream Theater is a damn good band, dude. Those guys can play.
January 23rd, 201010:42 pm
I think that D.O.B. maybe playing the Cadilliac-Pimp role at a rock concert tonight — Tomahawkin
Yo yo yo, it’s the Crusading Everyman, Cadillac-Pimp, Pseudo Hipster checking in from the rock concert.
Actually, just got back from gym and grocery store. Mellow night for us here in drizzly, cold Atlanta.
And agree on Paul’s Boutique, a remarkable album. They put out a remastered version a couple years ago, and not only is the sound great, but it’s got the full-on, fold-out insert photo/art that went with the album.
January 23rd, 201010:46 pm
Good night for this baked potato smothered with hot chili and pepper-jack cheese….
January 23rd, 201010:50 pm
Here, hereon Paul’s Boutique. I dusted that bad boy off for a party a couple weeks ago. Not sure how or why, but that always seemed to be the CD that we played in college during early afternoon drinking. You know, last guy gets home from class at 2:30, can hear Johnny Ryall from the parking lot, and just knows there’s cold beer and beer pong. Man, can I go back?
January 23rd, 201010:53 pm
I really miss Paul’s Boutique. Lent it to a friend years ago and never got it back. Was listening to Check Your Head earlier tonight. Love them.
January 23rd, 201011:01 pm
Lent it to a friend years ago
Don’t you just hate it when people don’t exactly “steal”, but, man, they sure as heck borrow it for a real long time?
January 23rd, 201011:09 pm
But Dammit you said Mellow which makes me think of Mellow Mushroom right now…
I’m pretty sure you at Publix No?
I had to roll to Kroger earlier and get some Smoked Salmon….I love Publix’s Sushi…
And since its a mellow night its time to bump some old Cyndi Lauper…
January 23rd, 201011:10 pm
Sorry for the typos but I’m kicking the actual-factual on f-book as well while I was bloging on here…I was talking to my old peeps on there
think going to prom with your aunt would be more pathetic jeffrey d
depends on how hot she is
January 23rd, 201011:11 pm
Boy DOB, you sure are anti-UNC after reading your posts….Are you that mad ROY won 2 national championships after he left KU??
Good night for this baked potato smothered with hot chili and pepper-jack cheese…DOB
Dang it I made chili tonight, now you got me wanting to go cook a baked potato and have some more
January 23rd, 201011:14 pm
With Damon saying he’ll have a team in a week and the Braves have had NO negotiations with Damon, I can’t see him ending up as a Brave…
Dang it I made chili tonight, now you got me wanting to go cook a baked potato and have some more
how’d you do all that with a cold stove?
January 23rd, 201011:16 pm
how’d you do all that with a cold stove?Nolie

DOB: Pokes beat K-State Kitty-Cats at Bramlage! How about that?
Don’t know if you have discussed it (or seen it yet), but Up in The Air, with George Clooney, was a very good film.
January 23rd, 201011:21 pm
January 23rd, 201011:22 pm
Thanks, looked pretty good to me from the trailer.
I’m guessing you made DOB anti-UNC. I’m a UNC fan too but this is not the year to be arrogant.
January 23rd, 201011:28 pm
I’m a UNC fan too but this is not the year to be arrogant.
They have the same conference record as UGA

January 23rd, 201011:30 pm
You’ve been covering baseball long enough to have a great perspective on this question: Is the American League–as a whole–really that much better than the National, (as ESPN folks would have you believe) ? If so, when did you first notice the gap in talent, is it closing, and–if it’s true that A.L. players move to the N.L. and have greater success– does that possibly bode well for Cabrera’s fulfilling the potential the Yankees first saw as he takes up residence in the “weaker” league?
Oh wait…that’s probably a bad thing
January 23rd, 201011:32 pm
Ya think? That’s depressing. Although, I’m glad UGA is moving in the right direction again.
January 23rd, 201011:33 pm
Thought this was pretty funny. The first clip is Cedric the Entertainer talking about it and the second is a clip from the boxing match.
January 23rd, 201011:36 pm
Indeed, Steve; my favorite prog-rock band of all.
Well done, nolie; my Aunt’s gettin’ a bit long in the tooth now but she was smokin’ when she was younger. My cousin…let’s just say I’d pretend it was ancient Egypt or modern day England if it came down to it.
Did the stir-fry thing myself tonight; chicken, ginger, garlic, red onion, broccoli, green pepper, jalapeno, mushrooms, soy sauce, olive oil, fresh ground black pepper, sea salt…electric skillets are the schiz-nitt. Poured it over whole grain rice with a nice pinot noir. Yum. I’ve got ribs marinating for tomorrow, but if I keep drinking at this pace (switched back to screwdrivers after supper) I may make ‘em later tonight.
January 23rd, 201011:37 pm
Thrillhouse44–Absolutely. People never borrow your less than stellar music. I have lost many a great album to such borrowing. I can think of albums by the Beastie Boys, the Smiths, REM, the Cure, Robert Johnson, the Beatles, Puccini, Bach and many others. I think that I will not lend music to anyone anymore. I have lost many of my favorite albums.
January 23rd, 201011:42 pm
With the exception of the Cure (IMO), you have most excellent taste, Moe Berg. My favorite description of Robert Smith was from Rolling Stone in the late 80’s…don’t remember the author but he described him as looking “…like a bread pudding left in an unplugged refrigerator.” Sorry; if I want to listen to music designed to make me want to slash my wrists it’ll have a better guitarist in it.
Do you like Vivaldi? You can tell a lot about someone by which order they like the four seasons.
Oops, noticed REM too. Yikes. Dig the rest though.
January 23rd, 201011:43 pm
why would you lend a cd when you can rip/burn a copy in a few minutes and not have to worry about losing the original? Just be discreet.
January 23rd, 201011:44 pm
spring, summer, autumn, winter, guess i’m just boring
January 23rd, 201011:45 pm
Just be discreet
Like by announcing it on a blog?
January 23rd, 2010
Yeah, like those that are monitoring for that kind of thing are here on the blog…
January 23rd, 201011:48 pm
C’mon, nolie. Be a sport. You were probably around in the 1760’s when it was written; you of all of us should have a more discerning opinion.
January 23rd, 201011:49 pm
Just you wait and see. When our pal nolie suddenly disappears because he’s locked up, who’ll be laughing? Not you or nolie, that’s for sure.
January 23rd, 201011:50 pm
touché, but then I’m not doing it, only talking about it
January 23rd, 201011:51 pm
I have My SuperBowl Predictions On Deck!
It will be a Favre VS Manning Matchup, “Bank On It!”
The Media and the NFL will want it like that because of ratings…
A Favre-Manning Match-up will do record ratings!
January 23rd, 201011:56 pm
¿can they get you for inciting to infringe ?
January 24th, 201012:04 am
The Grinch–Vivaldi is fine. I once saw a nice performance of a chamber piece he wrote in Venice. Like some of his choral work, like ‘Gloria’. The REM I like is mostly up through Document, not much after. There is quite a lot of other music I like. This is what I have lost to feckless ‘borrowers’.
January 24th, 201012:08 am
nolie – I will try not to mark the passing of Jean Simmons by throwing out Guys and Dolls lyrics tonight – but I can’t be sure…after the Damn Yankees throwdowns last night, it’s hard to resist…
January 24th, 201012:10 am
You’re right, T; there would be high ratings. But Favre still has to go into NO and beat the aint’s, which doesn’t look easy. The Vikings are a better team overall and NO has a crappy run defense, so if they were to go in there and run AP and Chester Taylor 45 times and let Favre throw the occasion heave-ho off play action they’d be in the super bowl. But Favre won’t allow that and they’ll lose. Even if they don’t, Peyton (Manning, not Sean) will put a clinic on his @$$ in the big game.
January 24th, 201012:13 am
I guessed that, Moe. That was mainly a shot at O’Brien, who goes into “Hulk Smash” mode when someone suggests REM might be overrated. Luv ya, David; just can’t help it.
Jean Simmons is dead? Dr. Pepper is gonna be pi$$ed at the lost revenue.
January 24th, 201012:14 am
VJ, Earl Wild passed also RIP to both
January 24th, 201012:18 am
Hey folks, If you want to see a super funny video go to http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/ . Lane Kiffin has been toasted to the tune of Runaway Train by Soul Asylum!
Jean Simmons, as in Ophelia in Olivier’s Hamlet or in Elmer Gantry. Not Gene Simmons. Very different figures. Doubt Dr. Pepper has any money invested in the same person that Howard Hughes did.
January 24th, 201012:19 am
Just watched “Bug” again. Anyone watching Ashley Judd in that where she NAILS being a no makeup wearing, six extra pound carrying, sweaty, cheap waitress and then watches her NAIL Marilyn Monroe in “Norma Jean and Marylin” (with gratuitous nudity in both) and thinks she can’t both act and be hot as the center of a blackberry cobbler straight out of the oven is crazy. How are she and her momma so hot and her sister…yikes! Good thing Wynonna can sing.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
