okay- I know it’s probably been done a thousand times on the blog, but here’s my take on the “new” Domino’s pizza: It’s alright. Not much better than before, cartainly not any worse than before. I still prefer Pizza But waaay more. Domino’s still has best cheese bread of the bunch. Hands down. Domino’s was always my least favorite of delivery chains, so I wasn’t expecting much anyways. Not that anyone asked… but there you have my pizza review now.

Johnny Damon would be ok with me… for leadoff duties only. Homers, RBIs, defense doesn’t excite me all that much. But it would get McLouth outta leadoff spot, which is good thing.

Pizza Hut, Domino’s, and Papa Johns (the big 3 in the Atlanta area) are all greasy crap. I’ll eat Papa Johns if I have to, but I’d rather go get pizza from a local place than have 1 of those 3 deliver sloppy garbage to my house.

Pizza guy wouldn’t have gotten 3 ft. passed by door before I pushed him back. There was a story years ago where I used to live where a pizza delivery guy was a serial killer and he’d prey on woman and children. No kidding, my mom swears a few days before he was arrested that he’d delivered a pizza to our house.

I agree with DOB saying the Braves should offer a 2 year deal to Damon, with the 2nd year at a higher salary. But it should be a vesting option or team option with a buyout. 1st year 2-3 mil and 2nd year 5-6 mil. I still like this team without Damon, Melky is faster and way better defensive player than Damon, also 11 years younger and can play all 3 outfield spots.
We really dont need Damon for 2 years, with McLouth, Schafer , Heyward already figured into 2011 with Melky and Diaz going threw arbritration again. But it will prolly take a 2 year deal to land Damon. Surprised the yanks are only willing to offer 2 mil….

O.J.

January 24th, 2010
3:45 pm

Why dont the Braves just offer Damon 2 years at 14 million, more than what the Yankees are offering at this point, and you could back load it. Make this year about 5 million (I am sure there is payroll wiggle room if the right player was to be had), and next year at 9. Whats wrong with that?

I agree Damon isnt worth that much. I dont see how he will garner more than Bobby Abreu did a year ago, Abreu a much better player overall and only getting 1 yr. 5 mil. The best i see Damon getting this offseason is around 5 mil a year. I see a 1yr 5 mil or a 2 yr 8 mil deal for him. If u factor in how valuble Damon has been with the Yanks and there only offering 2 mil to play in that small park where his Homerun numbers are doubled from what he would do say in Atlanta or any other pitchers park.

I agree, the Braves FO or ownership wont add any wiggle room to aquire a great player at a cheap price. , like last offseason the Angels were givin Abreu for 5 mil , we had to sign Loaf for 2 mil…. Put Abreu on the 2009 Braves were in the postseason, dont believe me go look at the Man’s numbers he put up. This team would be in better postion overall if they say have 3 million more on the payroll added huge difference. Cause if the player isnt a pitcher the Braves wont pay.
Example Wagner 7 mil our big offensive addition Glaus 2 mil throw in Hinske 1 mil and Melky who got 3 mil. We paid more for a closer than 3 players that are gonna be Key for the season.

Interesting game so far, unlike almost every other playoff game this year. But tonight’s the one I’m waiting for. Gotta see if Favre can get back to the Super Bowl and win a ring at 40.

Salamander, I read a good review of that Surfer Blood album in Rolling Stone. I’d never heard of the band at all, and couldn’t believe they were from Florida (not a lot of non-metal bands coming out of the Sunshine State these days). That review mentioned a lot of Pixies influence in their sound (in addition to comparing them to Weezer, as you did).

Listening to Elvis Costello Live at the El Mocambo, recorded in 1978 but not released until 15 years later as some sort of promo. Great stuff, from the My Aim Is True and This Year’s Model albums, two of his very best. Just found a used copy of this live CD at Wuxtry when I traded in about five CDs today.

DOB – interesting Rolling Stone mentioned the Pixies. Doesn’t seem like a far-fetched influence per say, but personally I think they sound more like the Shins than other other easily identifiable band. It might just be the vocals I suppose (that connects them to the Shins for me), but they seem to write similar sorts of pop songs.

Whatever the case, its a good album. I’m still listening to it on repeat.
