jeffreyd, Glad to see you’re in agreement. Damon helps this club.
January 24th, 20103:07 pm
Redstick, are you ready for the big game? Butterflies?
January 24th, 20103:08 pm
Redstick, that reminds me. I have my own delivery guy/gal to call. Enjoy the games folks.
January 24th, 20103:10 pm
Redstick, the question should be- why was your door unlocked?
January 24th, 20103:12 pm
Soph- you don’t deliver pizza in Panama City Beach area, do you? Funny stuff man. That’s was crazy experience…
It wasn’t. He did all of that after I unlocked door and opened it. Damn near bowled me over.
January 24th, 20103:15 pm
Ha, Redstick – nope. Although, I’ve had a pizza delivery lady come through my garage door and do the same thing. Kinda freaky.
January 24th, 20103:21 pm
Frankie – well…I would like to have Johnny Damon, but that’s not what I meant. It was a joke, since someone said JD would be great for the team, and I’m a JD…
January 24th, 20103:22 pm
okay- I know it’s probably been done a thousand times on the blog, but here’s my take on the “new” Domino’s pizza: It’s alright. Not much better than before, cartainly not any worse than before. I still prefer Pizza But waaay more. Domino’s still has best cheese bread of the bunch. Hands down. Domino’s was always my least favorite of delivery chains, so I wasn’t expecting much anyways. Not that anyone asked… but there you have my pizza review now.
January 24th, 20103:24 pm
Johnny Damon would be ok with me… for leadoff duties only. Homers, RBIs, defense doesn’t excite me all that much. But it would get McLouth outta leadoff spot, which is good thing.
Don’t worry, jeffrey. I got your joke. And, I’m sure you would be a better option than Norton too.
January 24th, 20103:25 pm
Pizza Hut, Domino’s, and Papa Johns (the big 3 in the Atlanta area) are all greasy crap. I’ll eat Papa Johns if I have to, but I’d rather go get pizza from a local place than have 1 of those 3 deliver sloppy garbage to my house.
January 24th, 20103:27 pm
Nah, my money is still on Norton.
January 24th, 20103:28 pm
Yeah, I’d probably take Norton too. I was trying to be nice though.
January 24th, 20103:30 pm
2010 Braves – a 95 win roster
Cox will manage to get about 85 wins out of them
Agreed… local “Ma&Pa” pizza joints are always (okay, usually) the best. Wow, just realized I’m eating, watching game and blogging all at once. Serious ADD moment. I think I’ll go focus on Colt-Jets and stuffing my pie-hole for now. Go Colts.
Pizza guy wouldn’t have gotten 3 ft. passed by door before I pushed him back. There was a story years ago where I used to live where a pizza delivery guy was a serial killer and he’d prey on woman and children. No kidding, my mom swears a few days before he was arrested that he’d delivered a pizza to our house.
January 24th, 20103:37 pm
Yanks will keep Damon’s services. They are just playing the waiting game on Boras. No way we’d get him cheap Yanks wouldnt agree to match it
Think of it this way – with me you’re getting 11 fewer hits but saving about 400,000 dollars. Although I’d like to think if you gave me 100 chances I’d at least get a bloop or two.
January 24th, 20103:39 pm
Maybe get plunked a few times
January 24th, 20103:42 pm
I agree with DOB saying the Braves should offer a 2 year deal to Damon, with the 2nd year at a higher salary. But it should be a vesting option or team option with a buyout. 1st year 2-3 mil and 2nd year 5-6 mil. I still like this team without Damon, Melky is faster and way better defensive player than Damon, also 11 years younger and can play all 3 outfield spots.
We really dont need Damon for 2 years, with McLouth, Schafer , Heyward already figured into 2011 with Melky and Diaz going threw arbritration again. But it will prolly take a 2 year deal to land Damon. Surprised the yanks are only willing to offer 2 mil….
January 24th, 20103:45 pm
Why dont the Braves just offer Damon 2 years at 14 million, more than what the Yankees are offering at this point, and you could back load it. Make this year about 5 million (I am sure there is payroll wiggle room if the right player was to be had), and next year at 9. Whats wrong with that?
January 24th, 20103:46 pm
I bet Damon would bite on that offer in a heartbeat.
N Nine (eta71)
January 24th, 20103:48 pm
Are these really the same Jets that looked absolutely lost against the Falcons?
January 24th, 20103:49 pm
I really hope Thurston isn’t on the MLB roster in 2010, like, at all.
January 24th, 20103:50 pm
Whats wrong with that? – O.J.
He isn’t worth $14M.
January 24th, 20103:54 pm
I am sure there is payroll wiggle room if the right player was to be had
I really don’t think so
Andrew in PA
January 24th, 20103:58 pm
melky/diaz platoon would be sweet,i dont care who the braves get Nady/Dye/Damon they need another hitter, simple as that.
January 24th, 20104:00 pm
I agree Damon isnt worth that much. I dont see how he will garner more than Bobby Abreu did a year ago, Abreu a much better player overall and only getting 1 yr. 5 mil. The best i see Damon getting this offseason is around 5 mil a year. I see a 1yr 5 mil or a 2 yr 8 mil deal for him. If u factor in how valuble Damon has been with the Yanks and there only offering 2 mil to play in that small park where his Homerun numbers are doubled from what he would do say in Atlanta or any other pitchers park.

Skan-chez is throwing all over the Colts Secondary, Gotta Put an end to that!
January 24th, 20104:07 pm
I agree, the Braves FO or ownership wont add any wiggle room to aquire a great player at a cheap price. , like last offseason the Angels were givin Abreu for 5 mil , we had to sign Loaf for 2 mil…. Put Abreu on the 2009 Braves were in the postseason, dont believe me go look at the Man’s numbers he put up. This team would be in better postion overall if they say have 3 million more on the payroll added huge difference. Cause if the player isnt a pitcher the Braves wont pay.
Example Wagner 7 mil our big offensive addition Glaus 2 mil throw in Hinske 1 mil and Melky who got 3 mil. We paid more for a closer than 3 players that are gonna be Key for the season.
January 24th, 20104:10 pm
Agreed. And the Yankees are the only team interest. I sincerely doubt the Braves have more interest in him than The “Stankees” (to borrow a phrase from McFann).
January 24th, 20104:12 pm
If the Braves could land Damon for 1 yr 3 mil and he’d accept they better be interested. And they better sign him.
January 24th, 20104:13 pm
Sanchez kid playing a hell of a game… be interesting to see if the Colts come back
January 24th, 20104:15 pm
Pizza is Pizza, just like women, I like all tastes…
Indy, Come On…This is feeling like watching a Braves playoff game…Indy’s defense is Flat…
January 24th, 20104:16 pm
My nightmare Super Bowl is coming to life. Seriously, the Jets?
January 24th, 20104:20 pm
Saints will win it all
Dont worry, never can count out Peyton and the Colts. Only a 2 posession game, and Peyton will have another shot before half time to try and get em in FG range.
January 24th, 20104:22 pm
A chance for Peyton to show us if he is another Montana hey !
January 24th, 20104:23 pm
I love it when They Play either Crazy Train on Let’s Go! at Kick-off!
Indy, Come On! Cheesewhiz!
January 24th, 20104:24 pm
I wouldn’t mind that dogsbrekky. I like Breesy.
VaBraveFan – I hope you’re right. I can’t stand the Jets!
January 24th, 20104:25 pm
The Jets aren’t going to the Super Bowl Soph.
January 24th, 20104:26 pm
I’m gonna Puke if the NY Jokes win this Game…The Colt’s are playing flat
But if the Skank-chez and the NY Jokes win it would serve Indy Right for pulling their starters during the last 2 games or the season
jeffrey, are you watching the game right now? Anything can happen.
I guess consolation would be that the Falcons beat them this season.
January 24th, 20104:27 pm
you bewdy, Peyton………
January 24th, 20104:28 pm
Ok, maybe I’m overreacting. It’s still early.
Nice Strike Peyton…!
January 24th, 20104:29 pm
Its gonna be B Favre vs P. Manning in the S. Bowl, “Bank on it!”
America and the TV networks want it like that because of money and ratings!
January 24th, 20104:31 pm
If the Jets win, then I’ll go back jeffrey doodoo head for the rest of the week.
January 24th, 20104:32 pm
“Skank-chez” = cab’s boy.
Damnit!!! My Cable reception just went out! ARGH!
January 24th, 20104:33 pm
technical question – why did the Colts take a time out then and why not go for 2 points at that touchdown… what is diff of 4 pts down or 5 ??
Can we call you doodoo?
Ugh, no Favre either. I thought the media would want a Jets/Vikings Super Bowl because of the whole Favre playing versus his old team thing but I read on Yahoo that the ultimate matchup for ratings would be Colts/Vikings.
T’Hawkin – Jets just intercepted a pass and ran it back for a TD as the half expired…24-13 NY
January 24th, 20104:34 pm
coaches have a chart of when to go for 2, apparently that wasnt the right time
The difference is, if you give up a field goal you are down by 7.
January 24th, 20104:35 pm
Not in the first half, no
January 24th, 20104:36 pm
Just because I like Sanchez does not mean that I want the Jets to win! Go Colts
January 24th, 20104:37 pm
I see folks are still ignoring all the signs and statements and dreaming of adding another hitter. Good luck with that y’all
January 24th, 20104:38 pm
Well, there goes my satellite signal. Blah.
cab – Colts?! But, you’ll hurt pretty boy’s feelings!
January 24th, 20104:42 pm
Are you sure?
Don’t play with me, lol…I was looking at the BSPN game-feed…So don’t play with my emotions (joking)
January 24th, 20104:46 pm
Meh… a lot of women out there I’d rather pass on – same with delivery pizza.
Our Signal just came on and went back off again!!!
ARGH, this blows!
I wish it was snowing like this..! The City would be shut down…
January 24th, 20104:47 pm
Soph – Colts just ran the kickoff back for a TD
January 24th, 20104:48 pm
And recover a fumble!!!
It’s 20-17 and Colts ball
At least you still have your internet connection Tomahawkin.
Interesting game so far, unlike almost every other playoff game this year. But tonight’s the one I’m waiting for. Gotta see if Favre can get back to the Super Bowl and win a ring at 40.
Salamander, I read a good review of that Surfer Blood album in Rolling Stone. I’d never heard of the band at all, and couldn’t believe they were from Florida (not a lot of non-metal bands coming out of the Sunshine State these days). That review mentioned a lot of Pixies influence in their sound (in addition to comparing them to Weezer, as you did).
Listening to Elvis Costello Live at the El Mocambo, recorded in 1978 but not released until 15 years later as some sort of promo. Great stuff, from the My Aim Is True and This Year’s Model albums, two of his very best. Just found a used copy of this live CD at Wuxtry when I traded in about five CDs today.

Braves Make “Solid” Offer to Johnny Damon
January 24th, 20104:50 pm
Liar liar, pants on fire.
January 24th, 20104:51 pm
He’ll get over it After all, he does get to come back to Southern California and all the girls…he is pretty after all
January 24th, 20104:53 pm
T-hawkin — Still 17-13, Jets up. Feely just missed another field goal attempt (this one from 52 yards), and the Colts are gonna take over at their own 42.
Game is back on…Man I wish it was snowing at this rate
Yes Missed FG! by the NY Jokes! Game On!!!
January 24th, 20104:57 pm
Chad why, I believed you
January 24th, 20104:58 pm
As much as I want to call jeffrey doodoo for the next few weeks, I’d rather the Colts win.
Braves agree to $1.15 million deal with RHP Moylan
January 24th, 20104:59 pm
Saw Accidental Tourist, another of Baltimore Trilogy, the other night.
Baltimore trilogy was Diner, Avalon and Tin Men. Accidental Tourist was a Kasdan film not Levinson, Jim.
DOB – interesting Rolling Stone mentioned the Pixies. Doesn’t seem like a far-fetched influence per say, but personally I think they sound more like the Shins than other other easily identifiable band. It might just be the vocals I suppose (that connects them to the Shins for me), but they seem to write similar sorts of pop songs.
Whatever the case, its a good album. I’m still listening to it on repeat.
January 24th, 20105:01 pm
To all the Bandwagon NY jokes Fans in the Atlanta Area
“Ho-e Sit Down!
Wow- they just made that look way too easy…
January 24th, 20105:02 pm
As much as I want to call jeffrey doodoo for the next few weeks
If the Jets win, then I’ll go back jeffrey doodoo head for the REST OF THE WEEK.
Yeah but I’ll continue calling you doodoo. We’re cool like that.
Bugger, just got rick rolled but you know some sad trivia… Rick Astley’s other song was the top selling single last century in Australia
just about 5 days late there Tomas
January 24th, 20105:03 pm
Chad…. dude. So not cool. I was getting so excited and clicked on the link and and and …. well. At least there was a good ending, right?
January 24th, 20105:06 pm
Ryan, looks like Bobby arguing with the refs!
January 24th, 20105:09 pm
yeah, fellow bloggers…. ANY time you see a link on this blog- ignore the temptation and just ignore it. It’s NEVER good. Think about it- DOB would have posted a message or tweeted something if Braves had made offer to Damon, or anyone else for that matter. If it don’t come from DOB, don’t click it! Just. Don’t. Do. It. Don’t. No.
January 24th, 20105:10 pm
DOB, I know you like Mickey Rourke and I read where he’s going to portray Iceman the serial killer. I don’t know when the thing will come out, but I assume late this year or sometime in 2011. I’ll have to check that out myself. Iceman was the devil, plain and simple. I have watched a few interviews with him and this was the coldest SOB that ever lived aside from maybe Hitler.
Where’s Random these days? I miss his Pepperidge Blogs remembers posts.
Redstick19, you guys getting any rain this afternoon?
January 24th, 20105:14 pm
You are not pulling for the Vikings tonight Soph?
Bat – no, as much as it pains me to cheer for the Saints – I just can’t cheer for the Vikings. I’m not a big Favre fan anymore. Plus, I actually like Brees a lot.
January 24th, 20105:15 pm
Redstick19, you guys getting any rain this afternoon? – Bat Masterson
Oh yeah. Except for about half a day on Sunday, it’s been miserable yucky damp and rainy since Wednesday evening. Buuuuutttt… it’s been about 70 degrees, so it could be a whole lot worse! It could be snowing or sleeting. Man, I hate the cold. Gulf coast boy through and through, I am! If it’s below 55 degrees and if the humidity is less than 70 percent, then I take it as a sign of the apocalypse!
January 24th, 20105:17 pm
I think Random got Bozo’d for making nasty jokes on here at around 6AM about 2 weeks ago, if I’m not mistaking…?
January 24th, 20105:18 pm
Redstick, I hear ya. I’m just up the road from you, in Santa Rosa Beach. I damn near froze my butt off the week before last.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
