AtTheMike you know without a doubt the 2010 season is over. What a joke. Lets see our offense is as good as it was last year in the 2nd half, when you know we only lead the National League in scoring.
Our starting pitching is as good, if not better than last year, considering JJ will have another year under his belt and is coming into his prime. Hanson made some rookie mistakes last year, which is hard to believe considering how good he was, and has learned from them. Lowe will rebound. Hudson will be damn near as good as Vazquez. Look at his numbers he has posted since the all-star break of 06. Plus his arm is stronger than it has been in 5-6 years. Kawakami had to do alot of adjusting to American baseball, look at his April numbers, which he wont do this year. We will not have to suffer for two months of Jo Jo Reyes this year.
Our bullpen is better and deeper than it was last year. People may say Wagner and Saito are too old. However they only signed one year deals, which means they are playing for money. Plus not like the two young guys(Soriano and Gonzo) they replaced were real durable. Both have a nice list of injuries. Medlen was pretty damn good out of the pen last year and is only getting better. After his 1st 3 games he settled down and was pretty impressive. Moylan isnt getting over Tommy John this year, which he rushed last year. It showed big time. After May he was really good. EOF was one hell of a LOOGY last year. Lets not forget last year we started with Bennett, Boyer, Buddy, and a Moylan rushing back. That was a very bad pen the first two months of the season. This year it will be lights out.
So if you think without a doubt that the 2010 season is over than you must either have a crystal ball, or you must not be the sharpest tool in the shed.
Moe you named one team. I did not say no other teams are. I said “most teams”. But you agree that the payroll for our pitching staff is reasonable, which is more than most will admit, so thats ok. I read your statement wrong, you read mine wrong. All good.
NotAgain yeah I meant 3. I dont know why you think that. “especially JJJ” What in the hell makes you say that? The guy gets better every season. He has great control and plenty of movement on his pitches. He also showed he is great in pressure situations, meaning down the stretch when the Braves were making their run and his numbers with runners on base. What does he have to do to make some of you realize how good he really is? Dont say win more games because he was in the last 5 for starters in all of baseball when it came to run support. If he got Lowes run support he wins 20. Would you then claim he is amazing? Some of you people really disgust me.
Eric from MO,
I think we basically agree. I like the pitching; I don’t think it is overpaid; and I think Lowe is a great pitcher and will do well this year. And I agree with you about most #1/#2 pitchers not receiving league minimum. If I were not reading so hurriedly, I probably would have realized that we basically agree.
Since Peachtree only covers about 45 games and most if not all of them are home games, do you think Pete would have interest in doing those games? I Would love to here him back doing some Braves games.

Daniel: OK Computer and Amnesiac for my top two Radiohead. Love everything they’ve done as a group but would certainly rank Pablo Honey at the bottom as well, with Amnesiac at the top. Personal preference, I know, but that album is just amazing to me. Pyramid Song and I Might Be Wrong … the whole friggin album…
Anyone on here think Reyes and/or Medlen can step up and keep the No. 5 spot from being a major problem area?
The fifth spot in the rotation is the least of my concerns, but I think Medlen could fill that well enough. I’d suspect he could do better than the league average fifth starter.

Hawks all but have it now. But c’mon guys. They blow 2 fourth quarter leads against the Cavs, 1 against the Knicks, and now had the Garnett-less Celtics trim a 12 point lead to 2.
No Not, that is not other words. Just saying you can not expect that to be a reasonable explanation to why a pitcher who is really good will not continue to have an ERA under 3. What could response could I possibly give to that idiotic statement? I could only hope you werent serious, which I guess I was mistaken. Oh well, Im done talking to you.
Jeffrey every NBA game after shown on TV has a delay. It started after the Pacers Pistons brawl. Dont really know the reason for this considering if there is a fight it will just be shown 100 times on Sportscenter.
Oh and good insight on Lowe, I was wondering what his attitude would be after all that. Not too surprised that he is chill, he seems like a really cool, laid back guy. Plus, he played in Boston while going thru a sensationalized divorce…if he can brush off that crowd he can brush off being shopped by the Braves. I’m sure a quick glance at his bank account put it all in perspective.
I hope he doesn’t… but I’d bet he does. Don’t see anyone other than McLouth as leadoff hitter on Braves team- and I would rather McLouth hit lower in lineup to better utilize his abilities.
By the way you meant what an idiot. Not what and idiot. Eric
No Eric I meant “what and idiot”. You spend all this time on the board and you don’t know that is a board catch phrase?

Do you know how lucky we are to have Hanson and Heyward. They are two of the best young players in the game. Add to that Freeman, Teahern, Vizcaino and Schafer and there is no reason to complain

Brandon–Absolutely. Lincecum will soon be making the big bucks, as will Jurjjens and Hanson in their first years of arbitration eligibility. I was answering the question from Eric about teams with #1 pitchers making league minimum. Our two young starters will make little until they, too, become arbitration eligible.
Hey Tomahawkin – bout to watch a movie. Got online to see if Kirby had came back home yet and if Petey Carrol was gone to Seattle yet and saw DOB had a new blog so I got sidetracked.
Oh jeffrey, be sure and keep an eye on peopleofwalmart, believe it or not, Bama’s new glass football is going on a tour of T-town area wal marts tomorrow. I laughed. I cried. I thought about sending it in to deadspin.
Carroll probably won’t be able to handle the loss of Corp. I’m not sure Riley would want to enter such a desperate situation as one without Corp…you’d probably better set your sights a little lower. I hear Jim Mora’s available!
I think Some of you guys are right, I think Lentz got Bozo’d again! If that’s the case then that sucks I wanted to holla at him tonight, since I’m not going out
I am in Knoxville. Saw Gone Viral’s suggestions. Those are all good.
If you are looking for an authentic diner and you will be in the downtown area, Pete’s Coffee Shop at 540 Union Ave., won a local ‘Best Breakfast Award’ in Metropulse. You can check them out online at petescoffeeshop.com for more info.
Other than Heyward and Freeman we have no positional prospects………. But we are loaded in pitching in both starters and relievers. But this team is overall worse than it was at the end of last year. We trade 15 wins and Boone Logan for 13 Home Runs and a 19 year old and basically Boone Logan. We need more Offense and an injury proned Glaus and a slumping Hinske will not make the grade when even comparing to Loaf and LaRoach. I just don’t like the idea of lets put a team together and and if it doesnt work we can make some trades and hopefully can make it up later on. Because games in April and May and June count the same as September and October and if we would try to focus on the WHOLE year instead of July through October because we didn’t catch the Rockies last year and the Brewers in 08 and the Rockies in 07 basically because we believe if we just keep afloat until the trade deadline and hopefully we can squeeze into the playoffs but if you don’t try to win every game April until October you can be expected not to make the playoffs. Before the Glaus and Hinske deals this was a 75 win team and now were a 79 to 83 win team. But this team needs another bat desperately but this team has gone tight wallet and cut payroll by 12 million we could have gone after Bay and Holliday but we didn’t but now it seems we need a left fielder and another bat in case Heyward is like Schafer (BTW NO ONE IS A FOR SURE LOCK). There is to many questions and the percentages don’t play in our favor. This could be a 95 win team but this team could be a 60 win team.
just cause something looks better, doesn’t mean that it is??
The way he says it makes it sound like Alabama is the septic tank, and even if he doesn’t mean that, he’s still calling every other opportunity the equivalent of a septic tank…which is ridiculous and just plain dumb.
MFin04………your 4:13pm post was appreciated. Everything you read in that post was exactly what I said, nothing was left out. However some on here are too feeble minded to have a rational discussion about a very sports related topic.
no chance on chapman, but it would still be pretty nice (: Zack

Lentz got blocked about 10 times and kept coming back like a bad vampire movie. I’m not sure if he’s finally gone….but Imma guess no.
Is Lentz really Rasputin?

Carroll probably won’t be able to handle the loss of Corp. I’m not sure Riley would want to enter such a desperate situation as one without Corp…you’d probably better set your sights a little lower. I hear Jim Mora’s available!

Losing Pete is one thing…but if he can convince Jeremy Bates to go with him, coupled with Corp going far, far away, that can only be a good thing

The way he says it makes it sound like Alabama is the septic tank, and even if he doesn’t mean that, he’s still calling every other opportunity the equivalent of a septic tank…which is ridiculous and just plain dumb.

seems to be a lot of controversy on just how good he might be considering how much he will cost. Not a guaranteed sure thing according to a lot of analysts.
