I wonder how many Eagle fans will be calling for McNabb to be traded this offseason and for Vick to be the starter next year. Would be a mistake if they did IMO.

Was Brooking this vocal when he was on the Falcons? I honestly can’t remember him standing in the middle of a circle of players jumping up and down trying to fire them up. I’ve seen a lot of it this year though.

Soph…………..I dig me some college basketball myself. While I’m a Razorback fan myself (grew up in Arkansas), I do like to see Duke do well. Also, I enjoyed following Bobby Knight’s teams play.
Meanwhile, that was a dumb play there by Jenkins. Should have been content with the interception instead of trying to lateral it.

Brutal day for the ranked teams against unranked opponents. — Heath
Heath, Nos. 4 (Purdue) and 5 (Duke) both got beat by ranked teams on the road in conference play. Upsets, but not exactly huge. No. 8 (W. Va.) was beaten on the road by a solid Notre Dame team (14-3) that will likely move into the rankings. And No. 10 K-State got beat on the road in conference play by a strong Mizzou team (13-3) that will soon be ranked.
So as upsets go, not really big ones. UNLV winning at New Mexico surprised me more than any of the others…. Wait, that’s not true. I’m actually quite surprised Tech beat Duke. Just not sold on Tech.
(I hit send by accident before I could finish this comment previously).
By the way, look out for Baylor. Unranked now, but I’d guess they’ll be top 15 or so in a few more weeks. Strong team. I think KU will lose at least three or four games in conference play this season.

Macon Braves (RIP)…………I have to agree with your 10:31pm post. McNabb is a Pro Bowl QB. I know that I rag on the guy, but he has been a good QB over his career. He just doesnt have an offensive line who can protect him against the Dallas D-line.
As a Dallas fan, I would love to see Philly make the mistake of getting rid of McNabb.

Yeah I would have to agree.
The Big 12 and the Big East are probably the deepest conferences this year. ACC, Pac 10 are down, and the SEC is well the SEC a football conference.

Not to sound like a smartarse, but that’s a given, dude. Texas is loaded. When I suggested paying attention to Baylor, it’s because they’re unranked and off the national radar. But they’re very good. Everyone knows Texas has a tremendous team, hence the No. 2 ranking and unbeaten record. I’d have to agree they’ve been the best team in the country so far this year.

My memories of Smotlz, Glavine and Maddux have and always will be of them in an Atlanta Braves uniform.
For all three…their greatest memories and heartbreaks are surely with the Braves.
We certainly shared each one with them…for all those long time Brave fans out there

The SEC has made steady progress in the last 10 years being more competitive in basketball. Miss St., Florida, Vandy, and Tennessee are pretty decent programs (and improving). Arkansas and LSU have good years but are surprisingly not more consistent (especially surprised about Arkansas). Of course, UK being UK (unline the past 5-10 years) really helps that conference.

Agreed that Baylor could post a couple of surprise wins this season. Not many easy games in the Big 12 this year….biggest reason why I think that Texas and KU are the least likely of the three remaining teams to go undefeated.

Heath, probably not the day to suggest that Kentucky has any real shot at going unbeaten, either. Not on a day when they get outshot and outrebounded by a very mediocre Georgia team — at Lexington.
Honestly, I’ll be shocked to see any team go unbeaten again in one of the major conferences. Even in a down year in the SEC.

Tomahawkin………Dallas has 3 guys who can run the ball. Romo has a plethora of weapons at his disposal. Minnesota is going to have their hands full with us.
Also, other than Brett Frave…….this Vikings team hasnt exactly had a lot of success in the play-offs either. It isnt like Minnesota are the defending champs. I think that both teams will have something to prove next week.

I didn’t say UK would go undefeated. My point was that the conference schedule for KU and Texas is much more difficult, and therefore, making them less likely….that’s all. As I said a few minutes ago, I still rank UK #3 behind both Texas and KU.

DOB, if you want more good food in Knoxville, go to Ye Ole Steakhouse on the Chapman Highway, great food. It is about 5 miles from Thompson Boling, or Go to Litton’s it is Todd Blackledge’s favorite, see him there every trip he is in town. We are traveling to Greenville, NC next weekend do you have any food recomendations there?

Surprisingly, that doesn’t bother me near as much as you might think. UK played so far over their heads that year…that getting that far and giving Duke such a game was pretty damn good. Besides, we got ‘em back later in the decade.

Must be really depressing to have this much passion about the Cowboys, and have no one in real life to share it with. If my team was finally winning a playoff game again, and I had no one to turn to for at least a high five, I might try to examine what about my personality has left me in that position. Or maybe the bitterness in my soul would have me still lashing out at other poeple on a baseball blog who have no vested interest in the game. It’s hard to tell.

I’ve seen enough of the “he’s and idiot” (I dont care if it’s some stupid inside joke……it’s still technically incorrect grammar) to not sweat the occasional incorrect grammar on my part.

Brandon from Warner Robins……….I was 20 when the Laettner shot happened. I had a parlay going and the Duke game was a pick’em (the last pick I needed to complete the parlay). I had Duke and was lamenting the fact that my 5 pick wasnt going to come through.
Then Laettner hit that shot and I got PAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steve – I was at that game too and got a great keepsake from it. Smoltz 3001st strike out was Ryan Zimmerman. The next pitch was fouled off by Nick Johnson right at me and I caught it. If Smoltz ever retires I will track him down to get him to sign it.

Steve McP…….actually, Glavine will be eligible for the HOF after the 2013 season. He’s already 1 season into the 5 year clock because technically he was never activated in 2009.
Unless Glavine comes back and pitches again, he will be eligible for the HOF after 2013.
