Piece: I’d start with Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and Summerteeth albums. Both great. I agree with Rhett’s recommendations on the Mermaid Ave. albums, though some of Wilco’s fans don’t see them as true Wilco albums. Hey, I just know they’re both really, really good, particularly since I also love Billy Bragg’s music. Wilco’s live album, Kicking Television, from a couple years back is also one of the better live recordings in several years.

In case you all did not see it, Jack Cust resigned with the A’s for 2.65 Mil for one year. According to an SF Chron reporter, that should bring the numbers down for players like LaRoche (the Giants offered him around 17 Mil for 2 years I think).

Jack Cust = .240BA, 25HR, 70RBI, .356OBP, Bats Left, Age 30

Adam LaRoche = .278BA, 24HR, 80RBI, .357OBP, Bats left, Age 30

He goes on vacation and his favorite airline losses his luggage, goes with Johnny Damon to head this blog while the Braves were thinking infield all the way, and picks Texas over Alabama.

Do us the favor of picking the Phillies to win the division in 2010, and put the hex on them too while you’re at it :)

An even funnier thing about N8(millimeter schlong) is his pathetic attempts of distorting the truth.

Here’s a word for word rundown of N8(millimeter schong)’s lies and incorrect posts:

3:28am, he said “Yet, while pitching to Howard, we managed to go 10-8 against Philly.”

8:03am, I said “N8………..If memory serves me correctly, the Braves went 7-2 against the Phillies the first part of the season. then we finished up 3-6.

Our 10-8 record was misleading because even by going 7-2 in the first half of the season against the Phillies, we were still behind them in the standings.

When it mattered in the second half of the season, we faltered down the stretch against superior competition (and let’s not forget the 0-6 meltdown at home against the Marlins and Nationals to end the season).”

12:09pm, he said “It didn’t serve you correctly. Before June 28th, we went 5-4 against them. After June 28th, we went 5-4 against them. We did however, go 2-4 against them in the two series later in the year. So yeah, we didn’t exactly push them hard down the stretch.”

2:50pm, I said “N8………..Your 12:09pm post is incorrect. You are the one whose memory isnt serving them correctly.

April 5th, 7th, and 8th, we take a series from Philly 2-1. May 8th, 9th, and 10th we take another series from Philly 2-1. July 1st, 2nd, and 3rd we sweep Philly 3-0. The first half of the season ended July 12th (All-Star Break).

Now if my memory serves me correctly and I learned simply addition correctly in the 1st grade……then 2-1, 2-1, and 3-0 equals 7-2……NOT 5-4 as you so emphatically stated in your 12:09pm post.

Understand now?”

3:10pm, he said “Alright Lentz, you’r right my calculation was ONE GAME off.

After June 28th (which is the timeline I framed out), the Braves were 6-6 against the Phillies. Before that date they went 4-2 against.

Sorry for missing the early August series in which they went 1-2 against the Phillies. I added up backwards off the schedule and missed that series, which gave me the 5-4 number, which made me assume that the first half was also 5-4.”

………………I clearly pointed out “word for word” his hypocrisy. Dude calls me out for saying that he is wrong by only one game………yet he started all this by being sloppy with his post and accusing me of being wrong by only one game (even though I was right).

Alright Lentz, let’s clear this sh!t up once and for all. I’ve been schoolin’ your stupid ass all day. So let me map out your stupidity for all (and you) to see. You stubborn SOB. Yeah. I’m calling you names. Deal with it. You don’t want to be called stupid, stop being so stupid.

Here is my 12:09 response to you (word for word – copy and paste).

“It didn’t serve you correctly. Before June 28th, we went 5-4 against them. After June 28th, we went 5-4 against them. We did however, go 2-4 against them in the two series later in the year. So yeah, we didn’t exactly push them hard down the stretch.”

Then after you had your little bitch-fit, I felt compelled (as I always do) to give you props for being right, and letting everybody know I was wrong, by stating the following at 3:10….

Alright Lentz, you’r right my calculation was ONE GAME off.”

You see, YOU were the one using the term “1st half/2nd half”. Not me. Check my 12:09 you kept referencing. I thought (by reading the schedule wrong), that we had gone 5-4 after June 28th. When in reality, we had gone 6-6. You see where the “one game” is comging from? I suppose, it’s a 1.5 difference standings wise. AGAIN. SORRY.

The following is the rest of my 3:10 post to you (also direct copy and paste)…

“After June 28th (which is the timeline I framed out), the Braves were 6-6 against the Phillies. Before that date they went 4-2 against.
Sorry for missing the early August series in which they went 1-2 against the Phillies. I added up backwards off the schedule and missed that series, which gave me the 5-4 number, which made me assume that the first half was also 5-4.
But yes. You’re right. Down the stretch, the Braves went 3-6 against them. So yeah. If you’re counting the late June series that we swept them in, then yeah. They wen’t 7-2 earlier in the year, and 3-6 after that. But if you read my post, it clearly stated AFTER June 28th. So I was off by a frickin’ game. Thanks for correcting me.”

Seems like a sincere apology to me. Oh wait. That’s becase IT WAS!!!

While I was typing my apology to you and hitting post at 3:10, you also were typing another tizzy-fit whining post accusing me of not backing up my statement of apologizing, and going as far as calling my statement BS at one point later in the day.

“Tomahawkin………….N8’s 2:59pm post was nothing but hot air. In it he emphatically stated how “he’s the first one to admit if he is wrong about something. However, if you go and read his 12:09pm post where he pounced on me for “my memory not serving me correctly”….and then read my 2:50pm post where I correctly pounced on him for “his memory not serving him correctly……..you’ll see him conveniently quiet and ignoring the fact that his 12:09 post was highly incorrect.”

Then rather than except my apology, you’d rather continue arguing the original argument, which I’ve already explained how I accidentally miscalculated it, and that you were right, by stating the following….

“N8……..Your 3:10pm “correction” is a joke. You was not off by “one game”.

Not only do you want an apology, but apparently you want to dictate how that apology is supposed to go. If you’re too stupid to just accept the apology, then you more than likely didn’t deserve it in the first place. Which is why after all is said and done, even though you “won” the original battle that caused your panties to bunch up, I win the war. Because at the end of the day, I’m the guy that apologized, and you refused to accept it and move on.

Which of course confirms that you’re a douche.

Your “BY ONLY ONE GAME” trivializes your attack of me. Remember, you said “your memory does not serve you correctly” in response to my actual correct post.

And I’m not trying to detract from ‘Bama’s win, because they’re a great team. I saw them beat up Florida in the SEC title game. But come on. Could have beaten ‘em no matter who they inserted. Well, yeah, if they had to replace their four-year QB on a moment’s notice with someone who hadn’t played before, a true freshman to boot.

By the way, they beat Florida a lot worse than they beat Texas tonight.

Roll Tide!

Obviously Saban is the only reason we won a national championship, but Saban coached really poorly in this game. And I mean reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally poorly from the beginning to the end of that game.

Bummer about Colt McCoy. Like DOB said, would’ve rather beaten them with Colt, and we would’ve. But you can’t be a one man show. You’ve got to build the other parts of your team. Saban could’ve spent the entire season pounding away with Ingram, but he didn’t. Ingram could’ve easily rushed for 2000+ yards this season, and left no doubt whatsoever that he deserved the Heisman. Could’ve just run Ingram out of the Wildcat all day and night like he did in the South Carolina game.

But instead to the frustration of many Bama fans including myself, Saban sacrificed throughout the season to get Richardson involved. He sacrificed and force fed the passing game even though it hurt the team to do so several times this season …..

Saban knew eventually there would come a day where Ingram would have a bad day or get injured, and he would need McElroy and Richardson to be ready to go. And sure enough, against Auburn, McElroy stepped up huge at the end when Ingram faltered, and then had another big game against Florida. They never missed a beat when Richardson stepped in tonight when Ingram was hurting, or against Auburn when Ingram was faltering.

What did Mack Brown do to make sure his team wasn’t a one man show? Did he develop a competent running game that his team could fall back on if McCoy got hurt or had a bad game? Not whatsoever. Did he develop the backup QB? Apparently not. We weren’t playing the Texas Colt McCoys. We were playing the Longhorns. It’s supposed to be a matchup between two teams, not one man shows vs. one man shows. The better team won. After all the success Texas has had over the last decade, there’s no excuse that the true freshman was the best they had to offer off the bench. There’s no excuse for why they had no running game tonight or during the season. There’s no excuse for why it looked like they had only one receiver who could get open and catch the ball. Just p!ss poor coaching on the part of Mack Brown in failing to develop a well rounded team from top to bottom

I wish McCoy hadn’t been hurt just because I don’t want to hear the excuses. Much like Florida, Texas was clearly too one dimensional. Florida and Texas weren’t great teams, just great one man shows. Alabama was a great team from top to bottom because their coach made sure they were, whereas Urban Myer and Mack Brown didn’t, finding themselves too much in love with their QBS.

But, man, as fun as the result was, what a fugly game that was.

.$Paul.$Lentz

Braveheart ……..did you even pay attention to the second half of the football game tonight? When Ingram got hurt early in the 3rd quarter, Alabama immediately had three 3 and out possessions. Richardson became the featured running back and the Texas defense teed off on him. Because Alabama couldnt move the ball, that gave Texas time to recoup and mount a comeback.

Only when the score was 24-21 did Alabama put Ingram back in. His running helped Alabama move the ball deep enough to allow the punter to pin Texas deep in their own territory with 3:18 left in the game. When the defense forced a fumble at the Texas 2 yard line, Ingram was able to eventually score on 3rd and goal.

Texas had all the momentum for most of the second half. If Ingram had not been able to come back into the game (like McCoy wasnt able to)……then Texas could have very well gotten the ball back with much better field position and scored to win the game.

One player CAN MAKE DIFFERENCE. Ingram missing a big chunk of the second half stalled Bama’s offense, allowing Texas a chance to come back. Ingram coming back into the game allowed Bama to hold off Texas and put the game out of reach.

So where does that leave your “well rounded team” comment? If Alabama was so “well rounded” like you contend, then they should have still been able to move the ball and put Texas away without having to reinsert an injured Ingram back into the game.

No. I can’t say that for sure. Not with Hudson and Glaus being such question marks health wise. But I can say that the might end up being better than the team at the end of last year, if those guys do what they are capable of, they remain healthy, and Chipper returns to form. Even you can’t argue with that possibility.

I don’t think Glaus will be as smooth as LaRoche around the bag. But I don’t think he’ll embarrass himself over there. Dude’s a good athlete.

As for Hudson? You know where I stand on that. I honestly believe that when all park adjustments are in, Hudson will have the more impressive 2010 over Vazquez. I also expect Lowe to be better.

So, yeah. I think they can be better than the team at the end of last year. Whether they do it or not, is entirely up to them.

“If you had paid attention to my 8:03am post, you would have seen that I said first half/second half.”

I have stated 2 or 3 times now, that I flat out MISSED the early August 3 game series that we played against the Phillies. I went to baseball-reference’s website. I looked up the “schedule and results” for the 2009 Atlanta Braves. I began scrolling backwards (from end of season towards April. When I missed the early August series, the numbers I got dating back to June 28th (which were wrong – 3 games short overall), were 5-4.

Being the math wiz that I am, I subtracted 9 (5+4) from 18 (10+8), and got 9. Applying the Algebra 1 class I took freshman year, I calculated that if our overal record was 10-8 against Philly, and by my calculations (however wrong they initially were), since we had gone 5-4 AFTER June 28th, I came to the stunning conclusion that we ALSO went 5-4 against them BEFORE June 28th.

But you would know all of this had you read my posts. Which clearly you haven’t.

Keep digging Lentz. Everytime you type and I bitch-slap you around, it makes you look dumber than you looked before I hit post. Of coure, who’s dumber? The idiot, or that guy trying to have a reasonable discussion/debate with the idiot?

It’s so Lentz-like to all of the sudden at the 11th hour, once you realize that you’ve been wrong all day (not about the original argument – about my apology), that you would coil up in the corner and start spewing other accusations, trying to pass blame off elsewhere.

After ALL OF THIS today, you NOW want to say that it’s because I’m not aware of where the season cuts in half?

I’m watching this Jimmy the Greek special on ESPN that I DVRed earlier tonight. In 1948, he bet $10,000 on Harry Truman to win the presidency. At 17-1 odds, he won a cool $170,000 by betting on Truman.

I didnt know that you could bet on an election back then.

Wouldn’t be the first time. Happens fairly often, actually. Just wish I could have seen the post before it went away. Probably Lentz thinking I’d get banned. LOL

N8……you can keep spinning any way you want. Let’s suppose that I was initially wrong in my 8:03am post and you was actually right with your 12:09 post: If so, then you would have been the one “correcting me” for being “one game off”.

Yet you continue to hound me for getting on you for being “one game off”.

The bottom line is that I didnt take kindly to your “your memory does not serve you correctly” remark. So naturally when I punch back (I was right for punching back), I’m going to punch back a little harder.

N8…….unlike you, I dont resort to using fake names. I’m man enough to stick behind the name I’ve used since I first started coming on here.

Also, unlike you, I dont feel that anyone should be banned on here. Like a true patriot, I believe in the 1st amendment to the Constitution. I believe in free, uncensored speech. Not once have I ever pressed for anyone to be banned.

“Yet you continue to hound me for getting on you for being “one game off”.”

WTF are you talking about? YOU are the one who keeps accusing me of saying that. Go ahead and copy and paste (with time), the last time I accused you of being “one game off”. I’m curious.

“The bottom line is that I didnt take kindly to your “your memory does not serve you correctly” remark.”

First of all, there wasn’t any malace intended with that remark. I thought my numbers were right (something I’ve since admitted were NOT), so I was simply telling you that your memory wasn’t serving you well, assuming you were actually REMEMBERING them off the top of your head. Since I had just looked them up for the blogger I was initially the discussion with, I thought I’d help your memory out with the actual numbers. Your mistake was assuming that I was out to get you with that post. You know what happens when you assume?

Deep down I think you’re worried about the Romo lead Cowboys, and you’re just deflecting. I forgive you.

“N8…….unlike you, I dont resort to using fake names. I’m man enough to stick behind the name I’ve used since I first started coming on here.”

Really? My birth name is Nathan. All my friends, my parents, my sister call me Nate. When I started blogging there was another Nate on the blog. I’ve never liked being called Nathan, so I came up with N8.

I don’t seem to recall the period or dollar signs in your initial blog name. Why is that?

Dude doesn’t deserve banning, just ridicule.

Speaking of BAC, anybody read about the chick found passed out with a BAC of over .70? That’s frickin’ incredible. That’s a go-getter right there; a woman who wants to be the best. I feel so worthless. Not sure I could score a .30. Is that even a passing grade?

Bay Area Steve…………I visited the blog a couple of years ago a couple of times using my old cowboys moniker. However I didnt start “coming onto there” (meaning sticking around to post on a regular basis) until the regular season began last year.

Since I started being on here, I’ve used the same moniker (minus a couple of adjustments for obvious reasons).

I’ve come to like Anders. Not sayin’ dude’s suddenly full of humility, but he’s toned it down. Plus, he’s as reasonable a Mets’ fan as we can expect, and I actually like hearing the enemy’s opinion, provided it doesn’t dominate the blog.

To summarize: Anders, you’re not a douche-bag.

Oh, and was it jeffrey d with the line about the ‘Bama defensive player? That was funny. I’d been thinkin’ that for four quarters. There’s apparently a guy named Anders in the world who’s good at something.

Second oh: shout-out to the guy who reposted Anders’ thing about how we’d all be astonished if we knew his job and level of responsibility. While he may not be a douche-bag, that post suggested otherwise.
