Yeah, i know what you’re talking about. I drive past there in the mornings when I’m headed to the Warner Robins Campus. I think they might have taken the Telegraph sign down a while back and its a furniture store or something over there now.
Gotta feel bad for Texas. Terrible play call there at the end of the half.

There were 12 other teams that had to face this Bama defense in 2009. If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen. I do hate to see him out because Texas can use it as an excuse. Hey, its part of the game, I don’t think Bama misses McElroy nearly as much if he’s knocked out. My point being, Bama has the more well rounded team.

I think you have to give Bama all the credit. The defense got to the quarterback and knocked him out of the game. The injury wasn’t an accident.

Tom Waits – I’m not saying that Bama doesn’t deserve to win. They’ve proved before tonight that they’re a great team. There’s just at least going to be a little bit of a question mark when you ask “What if” about McCoy.

Heath…….did you even see the play that McCoy got hurt on? He wasnt sacked. It was a designed running play that the quarterback kept and turned upfield. He was tackled from the side on what appeared to be a normal hit. For whatever reason, he hit him just right and injured his shoulder.
So I’m not sure what you meant by “getting to the quarterback”, other than Bama tackling him on a running play that netted Texas positive yardage.

jeffrey d………Take Ingram out of the game and lets see how well Bama moves the ball. Richardson is able to get his yards because when he comes in to give Ingram a breather…….Ingram has already worn down the Texas defense.
Look at what happened to the Falcons when they lost Matt Ryan for a couple of games. The Eagles came into the Georgia Dome and beat the shyt out of Chris Redman. Do you think that Philly beats up on the Falcons if Ryan was in there?

You see, that’s what I’m talking about. What if Mccoy plays the entire game? What if Francouer returned to 2005 form or Soriano didn’t miss an entire season or Gonzalez for that matter or what if Chipper didn’t have an off year last year or if McCann didn’t need lasik surgery? There is no crying in Baseball and especially Football.

Heath……it was just a normal tackle. I’ve seen QBs get hit far worse than that and not get hurt.
Some injuries are freak accidents. I’ve seen players tear their ACLs on what appear to be a normal plant when running the ball without getting hit.
The hit on McCoy wasnt anywhere close to being an ESPN highlight hit, other than the fact that it knocked McCoy out of the game. While the result was a great one for Alabama, the hit itself was nothing special.

Heath, you’re trying awfully hard to convince everyone that Colt McCoy being out of the game isn’t a huge deal. Sorry, man, but it is.
Doesn’t mean ‘Bama isn’t a deserving national champion; of course they are. And most people will soon forget there was any mitigating factor about this game. It won’t stain Alabama’s title at all. And shouldn’t.
But it is what it is. And right now, I bet you most ‘Bama fans would’ve preferred to see their team beat Texas at full strength. Because the Tide’s good enough to beat them at full strength. But we didn’t get to find out.
That’s all I think anyone here is saying. Colt is a very good quarterback, the last guy that Texas could afford to lose. And he barely played at all.
You’re kidding yourself if you don’t think it’s made a big difference in the game.

Heath come on seriously. You are telling me that the player was running at full speed and thought the whole time I am going to hit his arm with my helmet? Get real.
Also they are not a more “well-rounded team.” That would be like saying the Ravens are a more well rounded team because they would not miss Falco as much as the Colts would miss Manning. Which would mean the Ravens are better. Get real. So you dont like the Big 12. Im fine with that, but dont try to use this game to help your arguement.

I just dont like the play calling. Down 18 points and playing conservative. Let the kid try and sling it. Allowing him to only pass on 3rd down allows Bama to try and tee off on him.
Well, at least they just threw it on that 1st down.

Heath I dont think everyone is disputing that there was a good chance that Bama would of won the game regardless. I put money on Bama and Im a Big 12 guy. However, I also turned it off when Colt got hurt. Game was over at that point.

Not saying that Colt being out is not a big deal… Sorry if it came out that way. I was arguing that you can’t totally penalize the Bama team. Colt’s injury was a direct result of a hard hit by the Bama team. Isn’t that what a defense is supposed to do? I’d say that not only is it their job, but they performed exceptionally well in making sure that Colt McCoy doesn’t “hurt” them tonight (pun, I know).

Look at Dallas last year. The first part of the season in 2008, we are rolling. Romo throwing the ball, the running game is pounding the defense behind Barber. Then Romo gets hurt and Brad Johnson is our QB for 3 games. We barely scored 10 points a game during that stretch.
Colt McCoy is a multi Heisman Trophy finalist. Anyone with any objectivity can see the impact that losing McCoy has had on this game.

Heath……….no one is suggesting that Bama should be penalized for the hit on McCoy. Nor is anyone saying that it wasnt a good hit.
However, what people are saying is that the hit itself didnt appear to be anything that out of the ordinary. It wasnt “designed” to take McCoy out of the game. It was designed to tackle him. Him getting knocked out of the game was the result of one of those “freak” injuries where physics played a part in the hit being an injury.

I think it stinks that McCoy is out, but I really think it stinks that they don’t show the people running on the field during the game. When I was a kid, they’d keep the camera on the interloper and it was fun to watch.
Texas is a lot worse without McCoy.

Steve from OH………My point with the ACL example was that some injuries are freak incidents. I’ve seen QBs get absolutely crushed and driven into the ground……yet come up like nothing happened. Those hits (especially those on blind side blitzes where the defender has an unblocked path the the QB) are designed to put a hurting on the QB.
I wouldnt call the hit on McCoy designed to knock him out of the game.

The hit on McCoy was nothing at all compared to the Texas Center chop blocking the Alabama DT who was already being blocked by a Texas guard.

Heath……..to be honest, I felt that Alabama was going to win tonight. Alabama impressed me with how easily they beat Florida. I was not impressed with Texas’ victory over Nebraska.
I dont feel that Alabama winning tonight will be tarnished. However, there is no doubt that they would have had to work harder tonight and be more creative on both offense and defense if McCoy was in the game. This is simply not an entertaining game (unless you are an Alabama fan).

Heath………With 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, Alabama is 0 for 7 on 3rd downs and only have 35 yards passing while being sacked 5 times. Yet they are up 24-6.
That in itself should tell you the impact that not having McCoy in the game is having on Texas. If Texas is down that much despite those stats……what does that tell you?

Wow Brandon. Even without the pick 6…the running backs of Alabama have 2 rushing TDs tonight. Texas was supposed to have a good rush defense (I think it is over-rated because of the league in which they play) and that this was going to be the difference in the game anyway. That is why I said that Colt doesn’t play defense. However, since I so clearly apologized for not getting my point accross correctly already and said that I am going to drop it…this will be my only response to you on the matter…and maybe for anything with that attitude.

That dumb call at the end of the first half is looking huge right now. It would be a 4 point game instead of an 11 point game.
Still, this game isnt over. Alabama needs to start moving the ball if they want to cement this game.

Steve from OH………How come when I’m wrong about something, it’s perfectly ok for it to be pointed out (no matter how small or minor it may be)? However, when someone else is wrong, then I’m in the wrong for pointing it out?
I have refrained from name calling lately. I’ve been engaging in civil discussions. However some on here feel that if someone has the never to even hint of challenging them on their position on something…..that all hell should break lose.
