so Chipper is getting traded now? LOL, that’s how rumors are started… and is precisely how the Berkman chatter began as well, I’m sure.
January 3rd, 20109:24 pm
Brandon Jones and Gregor Blanco dont really have any value. And there not classified as prospects, there just minor leaguers. Both of them have cielings of a 4th outfielder or worse. They would be added in a deal not being the main piece.
January 3rd, 20109:27 pm
I think someone just was talking about imagining Chipper and Berkman in the 3 and 4 spots for fun. If they were serious about it they dont realize Berkman is the Astros “Chipper”. Just like the Brian Roberts and Nick Markakis talk makes no sense. Kinda like saying the Yankees are gonna trade Derek Jeter. lol
January 3rd, 20109:28 pm
Not saying they would be the main piece, but I’m sure they could be in some sort of deal.
Has anyone else seen this video on FoxSports.com where Jim Bowden names the Braves/Wren as the team that has had the worst offseason?
January 3rd, 20109:30 pm
Redstick – maybe we should try to start a series of trade rumors involving every player in MLB who has a no-trade clause or is a 10/5 player (which is the equivalent of a no trade clause). It would probably get more attention than a legitimate trade idea. Sad, but true………………..
I know. I should have included the phrase “just joking” in my statement. I was just proving a point that the Berkman thing probably got started in as just as silly of a situation. I apologize for confusion.

January 3rd, 20109:32 pm
Yeah Paul,i dont know if the eagles can beat them this year,we dont have the big physical line that you guys have,we need that big oline
its all goood.
We’ll give you Castillo for Chipper. But you have to eat half Chippers contract.
January 3rd, 20109:34 pm
I saw it this morning. Very interesting what people outside this blog think about the braves.
January 3rd, 20109:35 pm
Who else is Bowden going to pick? Not many teams have done much this offseason.
January 3rd, 20109:36 pm
Andrew in PA………the big difference in this year’s Cowboys is our defensive line’s ability to put pressure on the QB. Our D-line has clicked the past 3 games.
That, and Tony Romo’s ability to take what the defense is giving him.
January 3rd, 20109:37 pm
I’ll have to get back to you after I ask my wife what my opinion is on the matter.
18 Wheels of Love
Paul, that’s some stupid stuff. Seriously stupid.
Steve from OH
January 3rd, 20109:38 pm
What do you guys think?
January 3rd, 20109:41 pm
I’m going to have to brave the (-)3 degree weather shortly.
January 3rd, 20109:42 pm
okay. the cuckoo is officially out of the clock. nice post, l.e.n.t.z.
January 3rd, 20109:43 pm
Redstick19…………..You have to admit, it makes marriage a pretty scary endeavor from a man’s perspective, lol.
Rams get the first pick next year. You think they go for a QB?
January 3rd, 20109:44 pm
I mean, really, that stuff doesn’t have much of a place here…
January 3rd, 20109:45 pm
jed…………I couldnt help but share it with you guys. When I came across it, I said “Damn, lol”, talk about a hard hitting post against marriage.
Still, you have to admit the guy who posted it made some valid points.
January 3rd, 20109:46 pm
What blog did you find that on?
January 3rd, 20109:47 pm
Steve from OH……..dude, when you went on your endless conversation about some new guitar that you recently got with another blogger yesterday, I didnt say how this isnt the place to hear that crap. I just scrolled past it and chalked it up to your right to speak your mind.
You might want to extend the same courtesy.
January 3rd, 20109:48 pm
The NBA is losing all credibility with how it handles Lebron. It is disgusting to watch the refs treatment of him.
And his lack of sportsmanship is amazing. He is like a spoiled child when things don’t go right for him.
Cleveland shot 23 more FT the other night against the Hawks, it was terrible.
You can only talk about the same Atlanta Braves dream trade scenarios so many times, along with the same prospects and free agents until something happens.
January 3rd, 20109:49 pm
I think it’s hilarious when Lebron doesn’t get a call. He acts like someone smudged his Puma.
January 3rd, 20109:51 pm
Lentz- Steve didn’t end his guitar posts with “What do you guys think?”
Not to mention it was a non offensive topic. Stop all the naivety. You know exactly why you got that response. I suggest we all move on.
Gee…guitars vs. racist divorce crap?
I wonder what is more appropriate?
P.S.–music discussion is expressly permitted by DOB himself (note the blog description).
January 3rd, 20109:53 pm
Lentz- marriage is only “scary” if you are not ready for it.
In fairness to Lentz, he didn’t originally scribe the post and it was written by a black man.
January 3rd, 20109:54 pm
…or if you marry the wrong woman.
The Bengals can say they’re holding their “A” game but the Jets sure are showing them all kinds of looks and weapons. Not sure how much of the playbook the Bengals are sitting on but it better be a phone books worth.
January 3rd, 20109:55 pm
Steve from OH…….the post was made by a black guy countering the theme of the article that “successful black women” have it rough when it comes to finding a suitable mate.
Some of the earlier postings were made by women dogging men and the expectations of men. When I came across “Bobby’s” post, I went DAMN!!!!!!!! Way to score one for the male side.
January 3rd, 20109:56 pm
Bengals receivers look scared. Anybody watching?
January 3rd, 20109:57 pm
He is entirely responsible for posting it, though.
He’s just pushing his own agenda and looking for anything he can to support it. If you think it’s anything but that, you’re an idiot. Lentz is all about being correct and he wants you to know it, too. I won’t engage in any debates about it because this isn’t the forum. Shouldn’t have been brought up, period. End of story.
Redstick19…….over 50% of all marriages end in divorce. If you had read the article and the subsequent posts by the women bloggers….then perhaps you’d understand why “Bobby” hit back so hard with his post.
January 3rd, 20109:58 pm
Thanks DOB. Hopefully I can get away to check out those places…I’m sure I’ll be finding an alcoholic drink each night, thats for sure.
Steve from OH……….you can always use the scroll button on your computer when you see my name on a post. I frequently do it when I see your non-baseball related posts. Yet I dont make a big stink of it.
January 3rd, 20109:59 pm
Ay-yi-yi. It never ends.
January 3rd, 201010:01 pm
Whatever. I’ve said my piece. You know it doesn’t belong here. Pull the scroll wheel card all you want–as long as you’re correct in your own mind, I suppose you’re happy, eh?
Ignorance is bliss.
January 3rd, 201010:04 pm
PL–have you ever been m.a.r.r.i.e.d.?
dude, when you went on your endless conversation about some new guitar that you recently got with another blogger yesterday PL
You’re complaining about other bloggers’ “endless conversations”?? You and Random went back and forth for what seemed like a month over some simple bet.
January 3rd, 201010:06 pm
Paul, don’t post crap like that here out of context and then say ‘If you had read the article..”. Of course we haven’t read the article. That stuff does no one any good.
January 3rd, 201010:07 pm
jed………no, that is one mistake I have not fortunately made.
January 3rd, 201010:08 pm
and you do your woman-shopping on craigslist?
January 3rd, 201010:09 pm
jeffrey d……..dude, I only brought up the “endless conversation” to make a point with Steve from Ohio. He started it by attacking my post. I countered by saying that I didnt make a stink of his “endless conversation” about a non-baseball topic.
You took my statement out of context, something that you frequently do. I was not attacking Steve from Ohio for his “endless conversation”. I was attacking him for attacking my “non-baseball related posting”.
January 3rd, 201010:11 pm
18 Wheels of Love……….Hey, “Bobby” made a compelling case against marriage from a man’s perspective. Why is it crap? Did he say anything that hasnt happened before? Surf the web for marriage/divorce related news. You’ll see what he said all over the net.

jed……there is nothing wrong with meeting women on Craigslist. Why waste time in a bar or club (not to mention the money) when you can meet women on Craigslist who are more than ok with the “friends with benefits” type relationship.
January 3rd, 201010:14 pm
I was attacking him for attacking my “non-baseball related posting”.
Paul, sometimes it’s like you make things worse for yourself. You seem to be doing better and then you post something that you know is inappropriate for the blog and get blasted for it. You know there are certain topics that are off-limits, yet you choose to indulge in them anyway.
January 3rd, 201010:16 pm
yeah, they’re called “hookers”.
January 3rd, 201010:18 pm
soph–i disagree. there’s nothing “off-limits” about discussing PL’s preference for hookers over actual relationships. i mean, THIS is entertaining!
January 3rd, 201010:19 pm
You took my statement out of context, something that you frequently do
I am in context 99% of the time
January 3rd, 201010:20 pm
DOB, a few days ago (sorry – just catching up after 4 days away from home and the blog), you mentioned something about Chris Cornell’s solo stuff “going in the wrong direction”.
Not trying to start anything, just curious as to what it is that you didn’t like about the solo stuff. I’ve been trying to figure out for 2-3 year what it is that makes your music opinions what it is, and would have assumed you would dig the Cornell solo stuff. Like I said, just curious.
As for Soundgarden, I’ve proclaimed myself to be more of an Audioslave guy than Soundgarden (also like Audioslave more than RATM), which do you prefer?
On a side note, congrats on your boy Favre finishing th season strong. Thought the Eagles would come through and help eliminate the Viqueens having a first round bye, but alas.
Looks as though New Orleans and Minnesota both have some holes in their armor that weren’t too visible a month ago. Should be a fun NFL playoff schedule.
I’m just glad my Chiefs knocked the Broncos out of the playoffs, or did their part at least (first ever win for KC at Invesco Field in 8 year existence). Looks like Jamaal Charles can play ball. That’s a good sign for me.
18 Wheels of Love, “These pretzels are making me thirsty!”
January 3rd, 201010:21 pm
What’s the big deal anyway? It isnt like marriage is this “sacred” thing that people make it out to be. Again, over 50% of all marriages end in divorce.
That shows that maybe people should reconsider the getting married thing.
January 3rd, 201010:24 pm
Dammit, I wanted to see Ochocinco do his thing. Maybe, next week.
It isnt like marriage is this “sacred” thing that people make it out to be. Again, over 50% of all marriages end in divorce.
Don’t bash marriage. It is supposed to be sacred, but humans make it trivial. 50% of people will take an oath, saying that they’ll stay with their mate “until death” but then bail out when things aren’t going good.
January 3rd, 201010:25 pm
I never thought I’d be so happy to see a question about Chris Cornell’s solo stuff. Anything to change the subject. Please N8 come right in.
January 3rd, 201010:27 pm
….not really sure how that topic came up, but okay.
PL–as you said on that page, you dont date, you just post on the casual encounters page. so, when you meet these women, you dont take them on dates? they just show up at your place and get busy? i find that really hard to believe. maybe you could enlighten me on how that works.
January 3rd, 201010:28 pm
Soph- Ochocinco gave himself that lame pregame slip excuse. He looked fine running in the first couple of quarters. here come the excuses.
It’s a big deal because it’s a touchy subject, whether you want to admit it or not. And it’ll expand past just what it is now. And people will get heated, and the blog will no longer serve its purpose–baseball, music, bbq, and general sports talk, and on top of that, DOB will have to clean up the mess of inflammatory posts sure to follow. That’s why it’s a big deal. Crap like this has been started before and it’s never ended well. If you want to talk about it, there is a perfectly acceptable forum here at the AJC to do it–and we know about it, so anyone that wants to follow you there can. Problem solved.
January 3rd, 201010:30 pm
Anders – I kinda gave up on that game a while ago. Is he not playing anymore? I’m assuming he claimed he was hurt pre-game?
January 3rd, 201010:31 pm
And I see he made my point for me–now we’ve expanded the discussion to hookers. See what I mean?
January 3rd, 201010:32 pm
In one ear and out the other. Im-freakin-possible.
January 3rd, 201010:33 pm
Yeah, they showed the tape and he slipped pretty hard. He was ok for awhile during warm ups but then all of a sudden limped off like rodney dangerfield faking his broken arm in Caddy Shack.
He left the game with leg soreness. He said before the game if he was blanked he’d change his name back to Chad Johnson. Guess what? Revis blanked him. Thus, the excuse.

DOB, we moved into Plantation, FL in 1979 and Tom Jenkins’ Barbecue was a regular stop for us; usually took it home. We went to the old place before he built his new one and it was better to take it home back in those days. But his food has always been just great.
January 3rd, 201010:37 pm
The Bengals are absolutely embarrassing themselves. Intentional grounding in a 3rd and 22. Yikes. No way they planned to lay down this much.
Fireman Ed might get in this game.
STEELY DAN MAN
Please, I’d be very appreciative if someone could tell me where I can get some ” BEEF ” ribs here in the metro area ?
January 3rd, 201010:39 pm
jed…….it’s like fishing online. You can either post an ad seeking a “casual encounter” or “friends with benefits” type of relationship…..or you can reply to an ad that a woman has placed in the “women seeking men” part of “casual encounters”.
Anyway, one has to know how to screen out those that arent a good fit. You have to remember that I live in the Bay Area. There are a gang of successful, career oriented women who dont have time to conventional dating. A number of these type of women look online for a hook-up.
I’ve had women come over to my place before. I’ve met them at their place. I’ve also met women at a coffee shop or bar just to get acquainted and see if we have that “in person” attraction.
To be honest, I get bored with women easy. I like variety. I meet women who are at a point in their lives of being more than ok with a “no strings attached” deal.
Again, what’s the big deal? No one is being lied to, no deception is involved, and it’s consensual. Marriage is not for everyone. But the need for sex never goes away.
January 3rd, 201010:43 pm
i see no good that comes from prostitution being illegal either. certainly takes some ballz to say you’re a hooker-hound but more power to you. now i’ll cease & desist with the conversation out of respect for all the blue noses on the blog, but this is by far the most interesting subject on the ol’ blog today. l.e.n.t.z. & hookers…gotta l.o.v.e. it
January 3rd, 201010:45 pm
Whoa, this game is bad. Well, at least the Bengals play the Jets at home next week.
January 3rd, 201010:47 pm
P…L…z – I suppose now your going to tell us you are really Tiger Woods. This is a baseball blog. Most of us are human, with normal sensations and reactions. But here, we talk about baseball.
January 3rd, 201010:51 pm
as you said on that page, you dont date, you just post on the casual encounters page. so, when you meet these women, you dont take them on dates? they just show up at your place and get busy?
if he posts on any other sites like he does here-and it seems that he does-, when would he have time for a relationship with anybody other than himself? Even a 3 minute hooker encounter is as much as he has the time for. Good think he’s a premie
January 3rd, 201010:54 pm
Bear, are you the Bear that is Tom’s friend?
January 3rd, 201010:55 pm
pp–that’s the thing. he’s too busy posting on AJC blogs to ‘waste time & money’ with relationships. ergo? hookers! what part of this is not hilarious?
January 3rd, 201010:57 pm
Wren’s a terrible GM. If he was going to trade Vasquez, he needed to get a big power bat. Instead of signing Glaus he should have made an offer for Adrian Gonzalez which starts with Teheran/Devall, Schafer and Freeman plus another mid level prospect. WIth Vizciano, Delgado, Minor, Kimbrel, Rohrbough, Devall and Teheran there is room to move a pitching prospect or two. Plus last time i checked, prospects don’t win you much. Just like last year when Wren failed to get a power bat and came up short he did the same this year.
January 3rd, 201011:00 pm
The Pads would have no use for Freeman so they would be wanting Hanson or Heyward. No way, Jose
January 3rd, 201011:04 pm
Guys a narcissist. He has no time for anybody but himself. His posts are written for himself too and he goes back and rereads them all several times and pats himself on the back for such wit & eloquence.

Whats with the baseball talk? I thought this was a Best CDs of 2009, music blog? Can’t you guys take this baseball talk to Bowman or Shanks Web sites…
My favorite CD or 2009 was Dr. Dre’s. All of them. 1,2,3 to the 4…
January 3rd, 201011:17 pm
Unbelievable finish in Florida-NC State game at Gainesville. Florida dude hit a 65-foot shot at the buzzer in OT for 1-pt win. Only shot he made in the game.
January 3rd, 201011:19 pm
I saw that game. It looked like the NC State player missed the free throw on purpose too just so time would run out before the Florida could put up a shot. Crazy stuff.
January 3rd, 201011:35 pm
Vince, sure is easy playing internet GM isnt it?
January 3rd, 201011:36 pm
N8, I thought that the second solo CD from Chris Cornell, “Carry On,” was entirely bland. Not compelling at all. Power ballads and a lot of forgettable tunes not even remotely similar to his vital, rockin’ days with Soundgarden and Audioslave. To me, it was just mediocre stuff.
That said, I thought it was better than his third and most recent CD, “Scream,” which is a pop record, and a bad one at that. I found it almost demeaning for a rocker of his ilk. It’s an odd album, and I think all or most of it was produced by Timbaland. Now, Timbaland is great at what he does — but what he does is not Chris Cornell’s genre, even though Cornell tries to make it so on that CD.
I found it to be an obvious attempt to record something trendy. One of the forefathers of grunge sounded entirely wimpy on that record.
January 3rd, 201011:38 pm
Paul Lentz, who do you want the Braves to get to finish up their offseason shopping?
Wayne in Utah
January 3rd, 201011:58 pm
If igorance is bliss, Paul Dense would be on a perpetual high.
I guess I am going to have to go tell the missus of 32.5 years that we need to just call it quits, since marriage isn’t important anyway.
January 4th, 201012:05 am
About 15 years ago on a rainy night, I flew back into Greenville SC on a Delta Connection flight. Had 1 bag checked. Was waiting at the baggage claim. Everybody’s bags had come, but not my single. After about 10 more minutes (no one was manning the baggage claim office in the small airport), my bag comes through the conveyor belt. It appeared to have been drug behind the baggage cart, was worn completely through in several places, and was 100% totally drenched.
AND THE DELTA FOLKS put the darn thing on the conveyor!!! Like, here is your bag sir, have a nice day! It was so bad it was almost funny. I waited another 10 minutes for someone to come to the office, and they seemed surprised that I was upset. Ended up getting all contents replaced, and a new bag purchased on Delta’s dime.
The funniest part was them putting it on the conveyor! Like, here is your bag, and thank you for flying with Delta. You’d thought someone would have looked at it and thought, geez maybe this flyer will be upset. Maybe we should take this around and explain to them what happened. But, they just put it on the conveyor like nothing was wrong…..
I still laugh when I think about it to this day.
January 4th, 201012:11 am
I wasn’t laughing at the time though…..

James take your music talk elsewhere pal. Some is ok but there are WAY more music blogs you can surf on the net than there are Braves blogs.
Is anybody really surprised Paul Lentz is a Cowboys fan? It kind of suits him perfectly.
