Longtime
so Chipper is getting traded now? LOL, that’s how rumors are started… and is precisely how the Berkman chatter began as well, I’m sure.

Brandon Jones and Gregor Blanco dont really have any value. And there not classified as prospects, there just minor leaguers. Both of them have cielings of a 4th outfielder or worse. They would be added in a deal not being the main piece.

I think someone just was talking about imagining Chipper and Berkman in the 3 and 4 spots for fun. If they were serious about it they dont realize Berkman is the Astros “Chipper”. Just like the Brian Roberts and Nick Markakis talk makes no sense. Kinda like saying the Yankees are gonna trade Derek Jeter. lol

Not saying they would be the main piece, but I’m sure they could be in some sort of deal.

Redstick – maybe we should try to start a series of trade rumors involving every player in MLB who has a no-trade clause or is a 10/5 player (which is the equivalent of a no trade clause). It would probably get more attention than a legitimate trade idea. Sad, but true………………..

I know. I should have included the phrase “just joking” in my statement. I was just proving a point that the Berkman thing probably got started in as just as silly of a situation. I apologize for confusion.

Andrew in PA………the big difference in this year’s Cowboys is our defensive line’s ability to put pressure on the QB. Our D-line has clicked the past 3 games.

That, and Tony Romo’s ability to take what the defense is giving him.

DOB, a few days ago (sorry – just catching up after 4 days away from home and the blog), you mentioned something about Chris Cornell’s solo stuff “going in the wrong direction”.

Not trying to start anything, just curious as to what it is that you didn’t like about the solo stuff. I’ve been trying to figure out for 2-3 year what it is that makes your music opinions what it is, and would have assumed you would dig the Cornell solo stuff. Like I said, just curious.

As for Soundgarden, I’ve proclaimed myself to be more of an Audioslave guy than Soundgarden (also like Audioslave more than RATM), which do you prefer?

On a side note, congrats on your boy Favre finishing th season strong. Thought the Eagles would come through and help eliminate the Viqueens having a first round bye, but alas.

Looks as though New Orleans and Minnesota both have some holes in their armor that weren’t too visible a month ago. Should be a fun NFL playoff schedule.

I’m just glad my Chiefs knocked the Broncos out of the playoffs, or did their part at least (first ever win for KC at Invesco Field in 8 year existence). Looks like Jamaal Charles can play ball. That’s a good sign for me.

It’s a big deal because it’s a touchy subject, whether you want to admit it or not. And it’ll expand past just what it is now. And people will get heated, and the blog will no longer serve its purpose–baseball, music, bbq, and general sports talk, and on top of that, DOB will have to clean up the mess of inflammatory posts sure to follow. That’s why it’s a big deal. Crap like this has been started before and it’s never ended well. If you want to talk about it, there is a perfectly acceptable forum here at the AJC to do it–and we know about it, so anyone that wants to follow you there can. Problem solved.

jed…….it’s like fishing online. You can either post an ad seeking a “casual encounter” or “friends with benefits” type of relationship…..or you can reply to an ad that a woman has placed in the “women seeking men” part of “casual encounters”.

Anyway, one has to know how to screen out those that arent a good fit. You have to remember that I live in the Bay Area. There are a gang of successful, career oriented women who dont have time to conventional dating. A number of these type of women look online for a hook-up.

I’ve had women come over to my place before. I’ve met them at their place. I’ve also met women at a coffee shop or bar just to get acquainted and see if we have that “in person” attraction.

To be honest, I get bored with women easy. I like variety. I meet women who are at a point in their lives of being more than ok with a “no strings attached” deal.

Again, what’s the big deal? No one is being lied to, no deception is involved, and it’s consensual. Marriage is not for everyone. But the need for sex never goes away.

Wren’s a terrible GM. If he was going to trade Vasquez, he needed to get a big power bat. Instead of signing Glaus he should have made an offer for Adrian Gonzalez which starts with Teheran/Devall, Schafer and Freeman plus another mid level prospect. WIth Vizciano, Delgado, Minor, Kimbrel, Rohrbough, Devall and Teheran there is room to move a pitching prospect or two. Plus last time i checked, prospects don’t win you much. Just like last year when Wren failed to get a power bat and came up short he did the same this year.

N8, I thought that the second solo CD from Chris Cornell, “Carry On,” was entirely bland. Not compelling at all. Power ballads and a lot of forgettable tunes not even remotely similar to his vital, rockin’ days with Soundgarden and Audioslave. To me, it was just mediocre stuff.

That said, I thought it was better than his third and most recent CD, “Scream,” which is a pop record, and a bad one at that. I found it almost demeaning for a rocker of his ilk. It’s an odd album, and I think all or most of it was produced by Timbaland. Now, Timbaland is great at what he does — but what he does is not Chris Cornell’s genre, even though Cornell tries to make it so on that CD.

I found it to be an obvious attempt to record something trendy. One of the forefathers of grunge sounded entirely wimpy on that record.

DOB

About 15 years ago on a rainy night, I flew back into Greenville SC on a Delta Connection flight. Had 1 bag checked. Was waiting at the baggage claim. Everybody’s bags had come, but not my single. After about 10 more minutes (no one was manning the baggage claim office in the small airport), my bag comes through the conveyor belt. It appeared to have been drug behind the baggage cart, was worn completely through in several places, and was 100% totally drenched.

AND THE DELTA FOLKS put the darn thing on the conveyor!!! Like, here is your bag sir, have a nice day! It was so bad it was almost funny. I waited another 10 minutes for someone to come to the office, and they seemed surprised that I was upset. Ended up getting all contents replaced, and a new bag purchased on Delta’s dime.

The funniest part was them putting it on the conveyor! Like, here is your bag, and thank you for flying with Delta. You’d thought someone would have looked at it and thought, geez maybe this flyer will be upset. Maybe we should take this around and explain to them what happened. But, they just put it on the conveyor like nothing was wrong…..

I still laugh when I think about it to this day.
