besides, it’s not how much money you spend on players… it’s how coaches and management get those players to produce and fit puzzle pieces of roster. Just look at Marlins- they consistently win with a payroll of like $30 million or so- and have won 2 WS titles. Spending more money is not the answer to everything.

Joe Buck just said that 100,000 people is at the Dallas-Philly game. Jerry Jones must have dreams at night where “chi-ching” rings during REM. The Cotton Bowl was there yesterday. The NBA All-Star game is there next month. Next year, the Super Bowl will be in Dallas. In 2014 the Final Four will be there as well.

Cowboys fans will not have to worry about Jerry Jones not having enough money to keep our good players. It’s nice to have an owner who wants to both make money and win. It is possible to do both. You guys talk about wanting Authur Blank to own the Braves. I want Jerry Jones to own the Braves. At least the Cowboys have won 3 Super Bowls since he has owned the Cowboys.

I know the Braves are paying Glaus a $2M base salary. But, there are incentives that could make it considerably more. I’m not sure how much money Braves have to spend.

I would hope the Braves add a decent minor league back up to 1B in case Glaus sucks it. I’m pretty sure M. Jones is an OF, not 1B.

I suspect that Uggla, Dye, Nady, Berkman, etc are not in the Braves plans if only because of salary. There might only be $2M – $4M left.

BTW, I hate the Cowboys, but I hate the Eagles more. So, I guess I’m hoping that Philadelphia loses that game. (Which would make the Vikings the #2 seed in the NFC.)

If the Braves want fans to come celebrate Bobby’s last year at the Ted then the cheap owners need to step it up and show that they are serious about improving our lineup which scares No One! (Tomahawkin)

Remember late last August when the Braves were making a suprising mighty push towards the Phils and they were drawing mid to high teens during the week and at best mid twenties on the weekends? You think Braves ownership didn’t take note of that? The Braves were playing as well as anyone for a month and still the crowds were below par. njbraves………these Cowboys are not those Cowboys. The 2009 Cowboys are a different team. This is truly Tony Romo’s team. The Cowboys have so many weapons. We have a power back in Marion Barber….a speedster in Felix Jones…..a 3rd down specialist in Tashard Choice. We have arguably the best tight end in football in Jason Whitten. We have a number of receivers not named Roy Williams who can catch the ball.

Our defense puts a lot of pressure on the QB and we have a defense with speed.

Even since the New Orleans game, these Cowboys have played fantastic football. There is no reason why the Cowboys cant go to the Super Bowl.

Remember late last August when the Braves were making a suprising mighty push towards the Phils and they were drawing mid to high teens during the week and at best mid twenties on the weekends? -Anders

Actually the last weekend of the year they averaged over 30,000 and yes they did struggle during the week but as I said before, its kind of hard to just drop everything and make your way down to the Ted for a longshot chance at the playoffs in the middle of a flood that had affected many metro Atlantans. I made it to two games that Wed and Thurs but our chance was already shot by that Wed when Diaz couldn’t make his mind up to go home or third. The playoffs sellout thing is a little decieiving. Still 40,000 plus in the place. But no it technically was not a sellout because 50,000 plus weren’t there. Its not like they were pulling Marlins numbers though.

joerochester…………I agree, Dallas didnt look so hot early in the season.

However, as I said before, since the New Orleans game, we have stepped it up. Suprisingly, Wade Phillips has gotten the defense to increase the pressure it puts on the QB. The Cowboys went to New Orleans a few weeks ago and put all kinds of pressure on Drew Brees. And they are punishing McNabb so far today.

The Cowboys will be a tough team to be in the play-offs.

Nolie, I will miss Cox and I appreciate everything that he has done over the years and will do for this organization in the future. Players love to play for him. As you can see from other folks in agreement with my post, Cox slipped last year and that really hurt us. Our pitching was so good, but the first half hole that he allowed us to dig killed us. As long as Wren keeps bringing in the right guys and allowing the rally killers to go to New York or Arizona or retire, then we should have a chance. If we keep the nortons, kj’s, struggling schafer’s in there and cox makes out idiotic lineups then we’re in really bad shape. In my earlier post this afternoon, I said that we do have lots of question marks, but who doesn’t? It would be nice to have that middle of the order cleanup guy who is in his prime. 1. I would start by adding one more bat OF/1B guy, which I know we’re trying to do, and 2. I would make sure that we have the right lineup out there with the guys that we do have. I proposed that Diaz leadoff followed by Prado, Chipper, Glaus, McCann, Escobar, McLouth, and Cabrera. When Heyward is ready bat him lower down and ease him. I am not degrading Cox overall, but his performance last year was so bad, that I am worried for this season.

There were some interesting baseball talk on the radio down here in Miami and they mentioned the Braves have been in contact with several teams including the Astros about Lance Berkman. Take that for whatever you want, but they sounded like a deal could come between the two clubs. Of course you have payroll issues with Atlanta ans Lance makes a pretty coin, but I’m sure Braves could make room in the budget for a guy like Berkman if they really wanted to.

Another name that came up involving the Braves was Michael Cuddyer. Now, Twins are said not to be shopping their OF around this winter, but word is that Minn. really like what the Braves offered up which included Kris Medlen and Jordan Schafer.

At least Joe Johnson shook LeBron’s hand when the Hawks lost. Ugh, that still cheeses me.

Yeah, isn’t it funny how he likes to dance on the court and take pretend pictures when his team is winning but then act like a baby and storm off the court after a loss?

Soph………I can take it. As long as I’m not attacked personally. Andrew in PA seems to be a good sport as far as laying off the personal attacks. We both have been at each other because we hate each other’s team.

I wasn’t one of them that went to see those c..ck-teasing games in September here in Atlanta
I called Season over after the braves scored 6 runs in a 3 game series at home against the AAA reds…
Then I think it was a week later we blow a 1 hitter by Hanson because of the Offense and another one of Bobby’s dumb in game decisions….So I gave up on then, I pretty much just blogged and listened to 680 (sports station)(Tomahawkin)

Gee, I wonder why Liberty isn’t willing to up the ante with fans like you out there?

Anders, you’re right. I guess even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile.

Mitch Jones is primarily an outfielder but he has played over 300 games in the infield, mostly at first base and the others at third. (62 at third, 236 at first and 548 in the OF.)
