and I said that they have no need for Freeman not withstanding your completely untrue assertion that Blanks ain’t a natural first baseman.
Just cause you claim something Paulie don’t make it true, in fact it’s often the other way around. Care to tell me where you came up with Blanks not being a natural first baseman? I bet you saw that he played the OF mostly this year and went no further.

I would definitely be tempted. my worry about him would be his weight, but it wouldn’t likely be a problem in the next 5-7 years. and he would be under control for a long time. They have no real incentive to trade him for an unproven FB prospect as he will be cheap for a number of years.
I’m not as big a Medlin fan as some on here so I just might do that trade if possible.

There is a way to block all comments coming from an IP address. My friends who run a hockey blog had to do it after people continually acted like complete imbeciles. People could of course change their IP addresses to return to posting, but is anyone really going to keep doing this just to burn Paul Lentz?
Do we really have to sink the conversation to this low of a level, gang? I come here to talk BASEBALL with other Bravos fans. This is by far my favourite blog/message board of all the teams I root for. Please don’t make me go elsewhere, this is a great group who come up with insightful ideas, concepts, and questions.
If you want to steer the conversation elsewhere, that’s fine. But keep it clean. This is no place for religion or politics, for example.
And… Paul Lentz… you’re absolutely right that spending $102 million would make us a hell of a lot better. But can’t every fan in Major League Baseball say that they could be better with an extra $10 million to spend? Good concept but I’m also not sure the Padres are going to shop Gonzalez without a BIG return… especially at his modest price. They have no reason to move him without comparable talent going back.
And I hate to add this, but it could be that $18 million is lower than what Holliday could command on the market. Perhaps $18 million in the first year of a back-loaded deal culminating in the $23M range in 5 years.

Just saw Pirate Radio, really liked it. Very cool movie. Highly recommended for rock music fans. Great cast, terrific music (lot of Brit-invasion stuff — the Who, Stones, Kinks, Procol Harum, etc — and other tunes ranging from Hendrix to Dusty Springfield and Smokey Robinson.
Cast is just about perfect, with Philip Seymour Hoffman solid as always.
