No deal will happen without Heyward or Hanson Really?!?! If the Braves added Hanson or Heyward to any deal they could get almost any player short of Pujols!

This isn’t scientific but Andruw Jones was a better athlete than Prince Fielder ever was. He lost it in 2006 for no other known reason than he was 6′1″ and 250 lbs. He got fat and he couldn’t play anymore at 30 years old.
Prince Fielder is 26 years old and 5′9″ and 270. I wouldn’t risk a $15/$17 million multi-year contract on him.
Anyone notice all the Minor League moves the Braves made?
-Sign OF Brent Clevlen (Tigers-AAA) Played in MLB in 08, good power.
-Sign OF Mitch Jones (Dodgers-AAA) Played in MLB in 09.
-Re-sign Gwinnett P- Mariano Gomez
-Sign Minor League INF Luis Bolivar (Reds-AAA)
-Sign Minor League 3B Eric Duncan (Yankees-AAA) Yanks top draft pick years ago.
-Sign Minor League 1B Gerardo Avila
-Sign Minor League 1B Mauro Gomez (Rangers)
-Sign minor League 2B Juan Gonzalez
According to Talking Chop we also signed a ton of foreign players. With the 1B signings, could this signal a Canizares or Freeman trade? Bolivar is prolly this year’s Chris
Burke for AAA. Duncan could be a Chipper replacement if he ever comes into his own like the original hype. with the Clevlen and Jones signings, two legit AAA powers bats who have played in the MLB, this could mean the door for Gregor Blanco, Brandon Jones, or both. Gomez pitched well for us in Spring last year and for Gwinnett. Can’t find much about gonzalez
Although Fielder is heavy he’s very athletic and his weight being an issue at 1B maybe once he gets to be in his mid 30s but as of now and if the Braves were to say sign him to a 4-5 year extension he’d only be 28-29 well shy of the DH year.
yeah i’ve got a 300 lb friend whose only about 5ft 10 who can do back flips . weight isnt terrible if ya stay active, but brew crew aint trading fielder unless we kick in heyward or hanson like has already been stated
AJ hit 41 HR’s the season before he lost it – at 30 years old, 4 inches taller and 20 pounds lighter than Fielder. Fielder would be into his 30’s for the extension you mention. And if this happens to Fielder, it might happen earlier than it did to AJ because of the added weight and shorter height.
The difference between AJ and Fielder is work ethic. AJ added weight to hit more HR and never took the time to get more athletic. AJ’s demise was his own fault. No reason to think Fielder will follow in his footsteps.
Has anyone besides me noticd that with every player someone brings up on this blog that a bloger thinks would be a nice fit for the Braves either through trade or FA someone always and I mean ALWAYS has something negative to say about player or the proposed trade even when the idea seems realistic!
Between The Cleveland Show’s “A Cleveland Brown Christmas” and the Xavier-Cincy double-OT game, it was a great 90 minutes or so of TV while ago. Cleveland Show cracks me up.

Prince Fielder is obviously a helluva hitter and is, indeed, also a good athlete. But if you don’t think he’s out of shape, ask the Brewers folks who see him every day. There is plenty of concern there about his expanding waistline.
Again if we trade Heyward or Hanson we could get more than Fielder. If we trade either of those guys i’d want Adrian Gonzalez more than Fielder. Gonzalez is way cheaper, plays GG defense and has equal power. Plus the Braves would still have funds to fill other needs.
BossLady, are you asking that question to anyone in particular? I have no idea if you meant me. Just in case you did, I left Indy on Thursday afternoon.

If we can’t pencil in someone who will hit 30 HR’s, we’d dang sure better get someone who hits .290 or better and drives in runs with doubles and plays great D. The power numbers obviously fall way short of the Phillies. THat may be OK with great pitching over the course of 162 games. But it sure doesn’t look like we can even compete runscoring wise.
Jay – I guess you directed you plea for someone to throw you a bone at me. The Brewers have two players that are supposedly in Braun and Fielder. I would whole heartedly agree with any attempt to trade for Braun, but not Fielder, for the reason I mentioned.
Braun is exactly what the Braves need, without the baggage. He has speed, power, defense, a great club friendly contract (that you would NEVER get Fielder to agree too) and apparently a good work ethic from what I’ve seen of him.
If you are going after an untouchable Brewer, I’d go for Braun.

I’m glad you’re here. The Packers have an exciting rookie on defense. You should be very familiar with him, from his college days and, possibly, his high school days. Do you know who I’m talking about?
Of course, the best defensive player in the NFC this year used to play for the Packers, and is now in NOLA – went to some small school in Williamsburg, VA…
Has Fielder’s waistline effected his play in the field or at the plate so far? Has he had any major hip or leg injuries yet?Jay212033
Prince Fielder is obviously a helluva hitter and is, indeed, also a good athlete. But if you don’t think he’s out of shape, ask the Brewers folks who see him every day. There is plenty of concern there about his expanding waistline.DOB
Jay212033, I bet you want to be just like Paul Lentz when you grow up. You are just like him only 15.
LAdy, a few weeks back, a friend of mine wanted to know, who’s the guy on the Packers’ defense, with long hair, that’s so good”. He said his last name, “starts with a “B”. My answer was, “Nick Barnett”. He said, “does he have long blond hair?” I said, “not unless he fell into a vat of peroxide”. With that strong clue, I gave him the correct answer.
Tom – since she’s watching what I type, I would say she is as fantastic as ever!
Somehow, Jim, I thought that’s what you might say. (I’ll ask you again tomorrow when she’s at work)
And, how about that once-vaunted Giants’ defense?
It’s amazing, to me, how fast things change in the NFL. Sometimes in the same year. Look at the Titans. They started out a pathetic 0-6. Now they have a shot at the playoffs. If they pulled off the upset last week, they’d be tied for the wildcard!
Tom – I still work for Princeton Review doing GRE classes – I have started working with a nearby Korean school doing tutoring – I found another GRE student through the magic of Craigslist – I’ve even kept working with a guy in Atlanta over the phone…
Tom – cabravesfan was trying to figure out a clever way to say good night without saying she’s going to bed, which could carry unintended connotations, so…I’ll be out here on the computer for a few hours while she isn’t…
(p.s. – I’m not really going to be on the computer )

Dentz, you are not “ripped” because of you being right or wrong, or disagreed with. You are “ripped” because you are such an A-hole, plain and simple. Since you first showed up here, you have called everyone that disagees with you, names. Then, you get pissed when someone refers to you with the same names, after disagreeing. You’re such a freakin’ hypocrite! Do you think everyone on here has no memory? Why do you think people refer to you as “dentz and dense”? Why do you think people get on you? You’re the biggest jerk on the planet, and you don’t even have a clue. Now, that’s pathetic! And you can bank on that!
Prince Fielder is a natural athlete in spite of his weight, and the Dude has unnatural power and is said to be a vegetarian? Look, his waistline is a non-issue for the moment. So If your wondering when it could be an issue, check his dads career line. Cecil fell of the baseball planet around the age of 32, Prince will be 26 next season.
Talking Chop and Baseball America have confirmed all of the minor League signings I’ve posted before, except for OF Mitch Jones, of whom there are still reports of him signing. So i’d guess he’ll be announced in the next round. MLB.com has him listed as signed, just does not clarify with what team.
Prince Fielder’s weight is a non-issue for the moment as the dude has unnatural power to all fields. He will be 26 next season and if you’re wondering when his waistline will be a problem, check his dad for reference. Cecil Fielder fell of the baseball planet around the age of 32.
By the way, Dentz, I posted this at over 3 hours ago: “Dentz, not only are you the blogs biggest A-hole, you’re also it’s biggest liar. Show us some “typical” or “routine” examples of jeffrey d making someone look bad. You see, a person’s personality comes out with words. While jeffrey d is well-liked on this blog, you are hated.”
Where are the other, or for that matter, one, just one more example of jeffrey d doing as you stated? You responded to the other part the posting, so you had to read the entire thing. Why are you being selective?
You also said, at 10:50, “By the name, nice nickname.” Huh? What the, ??? You should learn to type and spell. This is a “Crime Shame”.
Since 1B seems to be an issue I must ask the question, what were the Braves thinking when they traded Teixeira for Kotchman?
Kotchman was dumped in favor of LaRoche who is unlikely to return. Meanwhile back in the land of the Angels, Kendry Morales posted a line of 34 HR’s/ 108 RBI/ .306 BA/ .924 OPS in 2009.
The Braves got the wrong first sacker and were sucked in big time by the Halo’s.
Hey nolie! I figure we have to be close to a milestone. I’d sure like to be part of it, especially given my limited time on here. We need a statistician. Where the hell is Random when you need him?
Hawke, for starters the issues are many. LaRoche wants two or three years and the Braves are obviously sold on Freddie Freeman as the first sacker of the future.
And until the Braves find a way to dump Derek Lowe they cannot add anymore major free agents. I mean look at it this way. Frank Wren was forced to trade Teixeira, forced to trade Soriano and again, he’s in the same situation with Derek Lowe. Does this man never learn from his mistakes?
New blog? Wake the neighbors? Screw the neighbors! I’ve never posted close to the first page before. This is my chance and I’m not telling anybody. At least until after I’ve posted.

Prince Fielder is obviously a helluva hitter and is, indeed, also a good athlete. But if you don’t think he’s out of shape, ask the Brewers folks who see him every day. There is plenty of concern there about his expanding waistline. DOB

Prince Fielder is a natural athlete in spite of his weight, and the Dude has unnatural power and is said to be a vegetarian? Look, his waistline is a non-issue for the moment. So If your wondering when it could be an issue, check his dads career line. Cecil fell of the baseball planet around the age of 32, Prince will be 26 next season.
