Yea and if not maybe Gorecki will push it over the top.
No deal will happen without Heyward or Hanson Really?!?! If the Braves added Hanson or Heyward to any deal they could get almost any player short of Pujols!
It is for Pensacola.
P. W. Hjort
December 13th, 20099:48 pm
I’m thinkin’ we could trade Chavez, JoJo, B Jones and Logan to the Cards for AP.
Might have to include Wes Timmons…… I don’t know……
December 13th, 20099:50 pm
thats crazy nolie. If you are going to get Pujols we will atleast have to give up Freeman. Not like we’ll need him since we’d have Pujols.
I hate how the off season heats up right around the winter meetings and then almost goes quiet until about Christmas. Especially how it started so quick this year. Just antsy I guess.
December 13th, 20099:52 pm
I hope the Braves don’t spend money on some has been. I would rather see them save the money and run with the young guys.
“David O’Brien…………I’ve been saying what you posted in your 5:43pm posting for the past several days now. Yet some of these morons just cant see it. — Paul Dentz (5:50pm, tonight)
“Pretty sad. You take it personal when someone disagrees with you. Pathetic. — Paul Dentz (5:58 Dec. 10)
“Macon Braves (RIP)……….Why are you so hateful when someone disagrees with you? We disagree on what the Braves should do. Not surprised. I made my case, you made yours. Time will tell who is right.
However just because I didnt come around to seeing things your way……..doesnt not give you the right to call me a “troll”. We disagree. It happens. Get over it. —- Paul Dentz (12:11am, Dec. 11)
Man, what a hypocrite (among many other things)!
December 13th, 20099:55 pm
What is page record on this Blog? We’re almost to 54. Well done, DOB. Take the rest of the night off and see if anything’s new in AM. If not, roll over.
December 13th, 20099:56 pm
I keep seeing posts suggesting KJ will sign with KC. Yeah, I get the Dayton Moore loves ex-Braves thing, but they already have too many MLB 2B. Unless they’re planning on using him in LF (no idea why KJ would sign to play LF, that makes him extremely less marketable), it’s probably not a fit.
December 13th, 20099:59 pm
Listen people if there wasn’t “unrealistic” trade talk/FA signings on this blog then what the hell else would there be to talk about Braves baseball wise?!?! It’s slow around here it just talk to keep the board going damn!
KJ may be a fit in Minnesota. They like cheap options and I don’t think they have a starting 2B right now.

No, I meant ’cause it’s smarter than you.
December 13th, 200910:02 pm
You haven’t read the novel Shutter Island, have you?? Let’s hope the movie can deliver like the book did.
Maybe we could trade Vazquez for AJ and let him play 1B,
December 13th, 200910:04 pm
personally id like to see wren go get nady and glaus and go to battle with the troops we have, sure we are over budget by 5 to 8 million , but when hyperinflation hits later in the year whats that gonna matter.
then at the trade deadline if all 6 starters are still healthy unload one for the piece that will take us over the top
This isn’t scientific but Andruw Jones was a better athlete than Prince Fielder ever was. He lost it in 2006 for no other known reason than he was 6′1″ and 250 lbs. He got fat and he couldn’t play anymore at 30 years old.
Prince Fielder is 26 years old and 5′9″ and 270. I wouldn’t risk a $15/$17 million multi-year contract on him.
December 13th, 200910:09 pm
Anyone notice all the Minor League moves the Braves made?
-Sign OF Brent Clevlen (Tigers-AAA) Played in MLB in 08, good power.
-Sign OF Mitch Jones (Dodgers-AAA) Played in MLB in 09.
-Re-sign Gwinnett P- Mariano Gomez
-Sign Minor League INF Luis Bolivar (Reds-AAA)
-Sign Minor League 3B Eric Duncan (Yankees-AAA) Yanks top draft pick years ago.
-Sign Minor League 1B Gerardo Avila
-Sign Minor League 1B Mauro Gomez (Rangers)
-Sign minor League 2B Juan Gonzalez
According to Talking Chop we also signed a ton of foreign players. With the 1B signings, could this signal a Canizares or Freeman trade? Bolivar is prolly this year’s Chris
Burke for AAA. Duncan could be a Chipper replacement if he ever comes into his own like the original hype. with the Clevlen and Jones signings, two legit AAA powers bats who have played in the MLB, this could mean the door for Gregor Blanco, Brandon Jones, or both. Gomez pitched well for us in Spring last year and for Gwinnett. Can’t find much about gonzalez
December 13th, 200910:15 pm
Although Fielder is heavy he’s very athletic and his weight being an issue at 1B maybe once he gets to be in his mid 30s but as of now and if the Braves were to say sign him to a 4-5 year extension he’d only be 28-29 well shy of the DH year.
December 13th, 200910:17 pm
I will have to say Prince can move for a big fella. I don’t think hes out of shape at all. Heavy but in good condition.
December 13th, 200910:20 pm
yeah i’ve got a 300 lb friend whose only about 5ft 10 who can do back flips . weight isnt terrible if ya stay active, but brew crew aint trading fielder unless we kick in heyward or hanson like has already been stated
December 13th, 200910:22 pm
Prince Fielder is 26 years old, 5′9″ and 270.
AJ hit 41 HR’s the season before he lost it – at 30 years old, 4 inches taller and 20 pounds lighter than Fielder. Fielder would be into his 30’s for the extension you mention. And if this happens to Fielder, it might happen earlier than it did to AJ because of the added weight and shorter height.
They might trade him come deadline time if they feel they don’t have a chance to resign him.
December 13th, 200910:23 pm
thanks for sharing that!
December 13th, 200910:24 pm
Damn you still in Indy?
The difference between AJ and Fielder is work ethic. AJ added weight to hit more HR and never took the time to get more athletic. AJ’s demise was his own fault. No reason to think Fielder will follow in his footsteps.
December 13th, 200910:25 pm
Has anyone besides me noticd that with every player someone brings up on this blog that a bloger thinks would be a nice fit for the Braves either through trade or FA someone always and I mean ALWAYS has something negative to say about player or the proposed trade even when the idea seems realistic!
December 13th, 200910:28 pm
Realistic or not, with so many people on the blog, there are always gonna be different opinions on moves and/or players. That’s to be expected.
December 13th, 200910:29 pm
Between The Cleveland Show’s “A Cleveland Brown Christmas” and the Xavier-Cincy double-OT game, it was a great 90 minutes or so of TV while ago. Cleveland Show cracks me up.
December 13th, 200910:30 pm
A Fielder trade will be more realistic around the trade deadline if the Brewers aren’t in contention.
December 13th, 200910:31 pm
brewers said before winter meetings started braun and fielder were off limits. take it for whatever. but average prospects arent gonna change their minds
December 13th, 200910:32 pm
How can maybe the fattest player in MLB have a good work ethic?
December 13th, 200910:33 pm
Prince Fielder is obviously a helluva hitter and is, indeed, also a good athlete. But if you don’t think he’s out of shape, ask the Brewers folks who see him every day. There is plenty of concern there about his expanding waistline.
December 13th, 200910:34 pm
Again if we trade Heyward or Hanson we could get more than Fielder. If we trade either of those guys i’d want Adrian Gonzalez more than Fielder. Gonzalez is way cheaper, plays GG defense and has equal power. Plus the Braves would still have funds to fill other needs.
I wouldn’t trade for Fielder without a window to talk extension. At least I wouldn’t give up a lot for him without being able to talk extension.
December 13th, 200910:37 pm
Would Baltimore still be interested in Lowe or Vazquez?
BossLady, are you asking that question to anyone in particular? I have no idea if you meant me. Just in case you did, I left Indy on Thursday afternoon.
December 13th, 200910:40 pm
Hey, it’s a lovely night! My Packers won, the Cowboys lost and, so far anyway, the Giants are losing (sorry VJ, but with a Giants loss, my guys have an easy road to the wildcard).
Why are so many trying to sign Prince Fielder? Did we give up on Freeman?
December 13th, 200910:42 pm
1b -Howard – 35-40 HR
2b Utley – 30-35 HR
Rollins – 15-20 HR
Polanco – 15-20 HR ?
Ibanez 25-30 HR
Victorino 15 HR
160- 195 HR
Prado 2b 15
Yunell ss- 20
Chipper 3b – 20
LF Diaz 15
CF NAte 20
RF Heyward 20
130 + 1b = ??
If we can’t pencil in someone who will hit 30 HR’s, we’d dang sure better get someone who hits .290 or better and drives in runs with doubles and plays great D. The power numbers obviously fall way short of the Phillies. THat may be OK with great pitching over the course of 162 games. But it sure doesn’t look like we can even compete runscoring wise.
Jay – I guess you directed you plea for someone to throw you a bone at me. The Brewers have two players that are supposedly in Braun and Fielder. I would whole heartedly agree with any attempt to trade for Braun, but not Fielder, for the reason I mentioned.
Braun is exactly what the Braves need, without the baggage. He has speed, power, defense, a great club friendly contract (that you would NEVER get Fielder to agree too) and apparently a good work ethic from what I’ve seen of him.
If you are going after an untouchable Brewer, I’d go for Braun.
You can have your opinion but I can too.
But will Fielder’s waistline really be an issue when he’s 28/29? Plus the Braves could put a weight stipulation in his contract.
18 Wheels of Love
December 13th, 200910:45 pm
If we could get Fielder at 9m for 1 year for Lowe, you do that in a heartbeat. Not a fan of the guy but I could deal with him for a year if it freed up Lowe’s salary.
December 13th, 200910:50 pm
Fielder definitely won’t be traded for Lowe.
Fielders waistline is an issue NOW>
What part of 5′9″ and 270 is so difficult for you to understand?
T.R.B. AKA (The Real Bytch)……….I’m hated because I have the balls to go against moronic thinking (for instance, “the Braves are going to offer Kelly Johnson salary arbitration”…….or (We can trade Derek Lowe for prospects and not have to eat any of his contract”).
When I am wrong about something….I get ripped. By when I’m right, not a peep from the morons.
By the name, nice nickname.
December 13th, 200910:51 pm
Tom – how ironic – I was looking to see if I could post something about the Giants in response too any old random posting, and there you were…I mentioned to cabravesfan earlier today that I needed to stop rooting for the Packers (shortly after the game where I was rooting for them)..
And, of course, as I type this, the %$#@ing Eagles score again…
December 13th, 200910:52 pm
It’s amazing how much less I despise the Packers now that The Quarterback is no longer there…
December 13th, 200910:53 pm
That Mitch Jones guy has slugged .648 in 772 AB’s the past 3 years in the PCL. I’m not making this up, you can check the math on it!
December 13th, 200910:54 pm
I wasn’t directing anything towards you. What’s your issue? You started with me from way back why?
Andrew in PA
December 13th, 200910:57 pm
i told this blog desean jackson was explosive
December 13th, 200910:59 pm
VJ, after I posted, the %$#@ing Giants scored again… However, I went potty, and came back to see the Eagles kicking a PAT. At first, I thought it was a replay from earlier. But the following replays showed me that it wasn’t a replay.
December 13th, 200911:01 pm
Has Fielder’s waistline effected his play in the field or at the plate so far? Has he had any major hip or leg injuries yet?
Lentz is more
December 13th, 200911:02 pm
yeah Paul, because you are the ONLY one to ever have those thoughts…
it’s always about the Dentz one…
December 13th, 200911:04 pm
“It’s amazing how much less I despise the Packers now that The Quarterback is no longer there… … Blog Babe
I’m glad you’re here. The Packers have an exciting rookie on defense. You should be very familiar with him, from his college days and, possibly, his high school days. Do you know who I’m talking about?
December 13th, 200911:07 pm
As Andrew just pointed out, that would be Clay Matthews, Jr. Walk on who earned a scholarship at my beloved Alma Mater
December 13th, 200911:08 pm
Of course, the best defensive player in the NFC this year used to play for the Packers, and is now in NOLA – went to some small school in Williamsburg, VA…
December 13th, 200911:09 pm
Andrew in PA …. Clay Matthews is correct! However, you still can’t be my blog-babe (not that there’s anything wrong with that)!
December 13th, 200911:11 pm
Tom – how is that blog babe of yours?
December 13th, 200911:13 pm
It took me a second to sort through all the big, blonde, talented linebackers that recently were drafted out of USC…
December 13th, 200911:15 pm
eagles are pulling out the madden plays
Tom – how is that blog babe of yours?
Jim, from here, she’s as great as ever! How is she from there?
December 13th, 200911:18 pm
Tom – since she’s watching what I type, I would say she is as fantastic as ever! And, how about that once-vaunted Giants’ defense?

Jay212033 (December 13th, 2009 8:39 pm): “Put Fielder behind Chipper and between Mac and look out!”
Ooooo — kinky!
You are one sick person.
Has Fielder’s waistline effected his play in the field or at the plate so far? Has he had any major hip or leg injuries yet? Jay212033
Prince Fielder is obviously a helluva hitter and is, indeed, also a good athlete. But if you don’t think he’s out of shape, ask the Brewers folks who see him every day. There is plenty of concern there about his expanding waistline. DOB
Jay212033, I bet you want to be just like Paul Lentz when you grow up. You are just like him only 15.
December 13th, 200911:22 pm
LAdy, a few weeks back, a friend of mine wanted to know, who’s the guy on the Packers’ defense, with long hair, that’s so good”. He said his last name, “starts with a “B”. My answer was, “Nick Barnett”. He said, “does he have long blond hair?” I said, “not unless he fell into a vat of peroxide”. With that strong clue, I gave him the correct answer.
December 13th, 200911:31 pm
Tom – since she’s watching what I type, I would say she is as fantastic as ever!
Somehow, Jim, I thought that’s what you might say. (I’ll ask you again tomorrow when she’s at work)
And, how about that once-vaunted Giants’ defense?
It’s amazing, to me, how fast things change in the NFL. Sometimes in the same year. Look at the Titans. They started out a pathetic 0-6. Now they have a shot at the playoffs. If they pulled off the upset last week, they’d be tied for the wildcard!
My favorite quote from Moneyball was that Prince Fielder was too fat even for Oakland in that year’s draft.
December 13th, 200911:37 pm
She is still here…and she can still make sure he doesn’t say anything bad about her while she is at work…
December 13th, 200911:38 pm
Of course, if you wait until I am distracted watching my 49ers play tomorrow night, you might get a different answer…
December 13th, 200911:44 pm
She is still here…and she can still make sure he doesn’t say anything bad about her while she (you forgot that one, didn’t you? ) is at work…”
Is there no more privacy in this damn techno-world?
December 13th, 200911:51 pm
what a game
December 13th, 200911:54 pm
Hey Jim, on a slightly more serious note, how are you trying to get your tutoring skills around? How are the responses?
December 13th, 200911:56 pm
Well, seeing as how it is my computer…
December 13th, 200911:58 pm
Tom – I still work for Princeton Review doing GRE classes – I have started working with a nearby Korean school doing tutoring – I found another GRE student through the magic of Craigslist – I’ve even kept working with a guy in Atlanta over the phone…
December 14th, 200912:05 am
“ I’ve even kept working with a guy in Atlanta over the phone…”
I never thought of that! Between the phone and the computer, why would you ever be limited to a specific area?
“Well, seeing as how it is my computer…”
You make a very strong point, I have to admit.
December 14th, 200912:13 am
Tom – cabravesfan was trying to figure out a clever way to say good night without saying she’s going to bed, which could carry unintended connotations, so…I’ll be out here on the computer for a few hours while she isn’t…
(p.s. – I’m not really going to be on the computer )
And now he is banned from my computer…
Good night Tom!

Shhhh, that’s OK, Buddy, I understand. Just give me the details, tomorrow, in the usual encrypted way.
December 14th, 200912:18 am
Good night dear.
December 14th, 200912:26 am

Dentz, you are not “ripped” because of you being right or wrong, or disagreed with. You are “ripped” because you are such an A-hole, plain and simple. Since you first showed up here, you have called everyone that disagees with you, names. Then, you get pissed when someone refers to you with the same names, after disagreeing. You’re such a freakin’ hypocrite! Do you think everyone on here has no memory? Why do you think people refer to you as “dentz and dense”? Why do you think people get on you? You’re the biggest jerk on the planet, and you don’t even have a clue. Now, that’s pathetic! And you can bank on that!
I think this week signings and trades will start to fly.
December 14th, 200912:51 am
Prince Fielder is a natural athlete in spite of his weight, and the Dude has unnatural power and is said to be a vegetarian? Look, his waistline is a non-issue for the moment. So If your wondering when it could be an issue, check his dads career line. Cecil fell of the baseball planet around the age of 32, Prince will be 26 next season.
“54 pages and still going. Will this blog ever end?!! Oh, humanity!!!”
TNScott … We could be making history. You do want to be part of it, don’t you?
December 14th, 200912:55 am
Talking Chop and Baseball America have confirmed all of the minor League signings I’ve posted before, except for OF Mitch Jones, of whom there are still reports of him signing. So i’d guess he’ll be announced in the next round. MLB.com has him listed as signed, just does not clarify with what team.
December 14th, 200912:57 am
Prince Fielder’s weight is a non-issue for the moment as the dude has unnatural power to all fields. He will be 26 next season and if you’re wondering when his waistline will be a problem, check his dad for reference. Cecil Fielder fell of the baseball planet around the age of 32.
December 14th, 20091:03 am
By the way, Dentz, I posted this at over 3 hours ago: “Dentz, not only are you the blogs biggest A-hole, you’re also it’s biggest liar. Show us some “typical” or “routine” examples of jeffrey d making someone look bad. You see, a person’s personality comes out with words. While jeffrey d is well-liked on this blog, you are hated.”
Where are the other, or for that matter, one, just one more example of jeffrey d doing as you stated? You responded to the other part the posting, so you had to read the entire thing. Why are you being selective?
You also said, at 10:50, “By the name, nice nickname.” Huh? What the, ??? You should learn to type and spell. This is a “Crime Shame”.
December 14th, 20091:16 am
Tom O we have broken 50 a time or two, but not sure by how many pages. We might indeed be approaching a milestone. Hurrah!!
December 14th, 20091:22 am
Since 1B seems to be an issue I must ask the question, what were the Braves thinking when they traded Teixeira for Kotchman?
Kotchman was dumped in favor of LaRoche who is unlikely to return. Meanwhile back in the land of the Angels, Kendry Morales posted a line of 34 HR’s/ 108 RBI/ .306 BA/ .924 OPS in 2009.
The Braves got the wrong first sacker and were sucked in big time by the Halo’s.
Hey nolie! I figure we have to be close to a milestone. I’d sure like to be part of it, especially given my limited time on here. We need a statistician. Where the hell is Random when you need him?
December 14th, 20091:25 am
Night Ninja, why are you (and many others), so sure LaRoche isn’t going to return?
December 14th, 20091:27 am
At least Prince Fielder has an excuse: genetics.
December 14th, 20091:34 am
New blog arriving within 15 minutes. Wake the neighbors. No, really, wake them. They’ve got to work in the morning, so that’d be interesting.
December 14th, 20091:38 am
Hawke, for starters the issues are many. LaRoche wants two or three years and the Braves are obviously sold on Freddie Freeman as the first sacker of the future.
And until the Braves find a way to dump Derek Lowe they cannot add anymore major free agents. I mean look at it this way. Frank Wren was forced to trade Teixeira, forced to trade Soriano and again, he’s in the same situation with Derek Lowe. Does this man never learn from his mistakes?
December 14th, 20091:40 am
New blog? Wake the neighbors? Screw the neighbors! I’ve never posted close to the first page before. This is my chance and I’m not telling anybody. At least until after I’ve posted.
