As far as you being surprised about the Braves not being able to get anything for Kelly………I cant help but ask “WHAT PART OF YOU CANT COMPREHEND THE FACT THAT NO TEAM WANTS TO RISK PAYING KELLY JOHNSON $3.5-$4 MIL FOR THE 2010 SEASON”?
I’m sure that Kelly will probably get a number of offers. I recognize that there are teams out there willing to give him a chance to win a job and possibly start for them. After all, he has produced in the past. However because of his struggles last season, no team wants to give him a chance for a $4 mil salary.

Cherokee……..your 11:00pm posting pondered why some people on here complain about “long postings”.
Dude, in case you didnt know it, there are many a poster on here who suffers from ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). Any posting longer than 2 sentences gives them intense migraines.

Jurrjens4NLCY……….in other words, if I had taken you up on your bet…..you would have went the “shyster” route, just like the well-known “shyster” RANDOM? Not surprising.
Jurrjens4NLCY………just imagine how the board would have lit up and vilified me if the Braves had tendered Kelly Johnson.
Next on the agenda of “who’s right” is the Derek Lowe situation.
Will I be wrong and see Derek Lowe traded without the Braves having to eat ANY of his salary (unless the Braves are courageous enough to trade for Milton Bradley, which would mean that the Braves would not have to eat any of Lowe’s salary)?
And if the Braves end up eating part of Lowe’s salary, will they have to eat at least $5 mil a season……………..or will I be wrong and see the Braves eat $3 mil a season or less of the contract?
Best case scenario, Frank Wren will find a sucker who will assume Lowe’s whole contract. However, I just dont see it happening. And as I was trying to say in a previous posting………….IF Frank Wren can unload Lowe’s whole contract, then perhaps there would be a chance that the Braves would have enough money to make a serious contract proposal to Matt Holliday. I said IF.
You know, I’ve seen the Da Vinci Code movie…. thought it was OK…but just can’t get past all the simple things in the movie that are so wrong… starting with the position of the Mona Lisa… I’ve been to the Louvre and that picture is no where near eye level and it has a case over it. Sorry…can’t sleep and I’ve got the movie on TNT in the background.
Does anyone know if there is any truth to a rumor I’ve heard that the iPhone is moving to Verizon in 2010? My contract with ATT is up in February and I am starting to look into what I might want to do at that time.
Guys don’t make $400,000 while playing minor league ball, not unless they’re on major league contracts and get sent down. Some have split contracts that pay a lot more for any time they’re in the majors, but they don’t have $400,000 straight salaries for minor league contracts….
Highly recommend Up In The Air, the new George Clooney movie. Saw the late one tonight, and loved it. Really well done, original, and Clooney is exceptional, as always…
Turner Gill was the guy I wanted my alma mater to hire. He’s going to be a recruiting force. Great hire….
Just got home and saw the Heisman highlights. Amazingly close race. Good to see Suh get a lot of votes. And how ’bout Ingram? 19 years old, wins Heisman. Wow….
African Safari……….I never understood why people got so “up in arms” over the concept of “Jesus” possibly getting married and having kids.
I’ve made it clear in the past that I do not believe in any higher power. However, I attended church growing up and I understand the “concept” of “Jesus”.
Saying that, I’ll play “Devil’s Advocate” and say “let’s suppose that there is a god and that Jesus was god in the flesh”? If he really did live 30 something years on earth some 2,000 years ago…….if he hungered, thirsted, sweated, laughed, cried, shivered in the cold, felt pain like a man, etc………..if he worked and had the customs of “man”………why would it be so hard to comprehend that “Jesus” in fact got married and had kids?
It would have looked very odd back in those days for a 30 year old man to not be married. After all, life spans were much shorter back then.
And besides, if I was “god” and came to the earth in the body of a man…….you can bet your sweet A$$ that I would be sampling some of “my creation”, lol. What is the point of being “god” if you cant enjoy the fruits of being “god”? To imply that it is blasphemy to suggest that “Jesus” had sex…..implies that there is something wrong with sex. Those in the media who are vilifying Tiger Woods for hitting everything that moves…….in fact are mostly jealous themselves. If they were in Tiger’s shoes, they’d be nailing all the poontang that crossed their path.
Regardless of whether “jesus” is the son of god or not (I say not)…..it is very easy for me to believe that he got married and had a family 2,000 years ago. Religious leaders get laid like crazy. Study your history.
If I had a vote for Heisman it would have went to Toby Gerhart(?) of Stanford. He’s was a constant force throughout the season and led the nation in a couple of categories, TD and Yards I believe.
And I agree with you DOB, I think Turner Gill will find great success in the Big 12. Guy can flat out coach. Football will still probably be on the back burner to basketball, but you never know.
Sorry, I am the type of guy that points out all the impossibilities of movies…I wasn’t intending to start a theological debate… My points was that I have actually been to the Louvre and the Mona Lisa is not accessible the way the movie portrayed…it is considerably higher on the wall than eye-level and is in a casing.
Of course, I easily see inaccuracies in movies all the time. Like when they change shots back and forth and people’s hair is different…or wet and the dry and they wet again…crap like that.
I don’t come in here for the past two months and when I come in I still see Lentz against the world. Same stuff different month! LOL!!!!
In one area he’s right. NOTHING will go down with the pitching until the Lackey-Halladay situation shakes out. Wren would be a fool to pull any triggers until then.
It’s just ridiculous how many of you discuss irrelevant non-contributors — Johnson, Gorecki, etc. Who’s next? Ken Oberkfell?
Lentz — you need to be careful discussing “man crushes” considering where you’re from.
Guys don’t make $400,000 while playing minor league ball, not unless they’re on major league contracts and get sent down. Some have split contracts that pay a lot more for any time they’re in the majors, but they don’t have $400,000 straight salaries for minor league contracts… DOB
Gee I think that’s what I said JJ. some day you are gonna learn to listen to my warnings. That’s a couple times now that I tried to save you from dumb bets
African Safari…………actually I enjoyed both reading and seeing ‘Da Vinci Code’. History is a fascinating subject. Learning more and more about how humans evolved, both from a physical and societal standpoint, shows how far we’ve come as a species.
Just as today, when we look back at stuff that people used to believe (Greek & Roman mythology, the sun revolving around the earth, the earth being flat, Indian rain dances, etc)…….1000 years from now, I’m sure that our decedents will look back and say to themselves “damn, I cant believe that humans believe in the religious nonsense that was common in those times”.
One thing that is a historical fact in ‘Da Vinci Code’ is the Council of Nicea. There was no official bible until the Council of Nicea. A bunch of bishops debated about what books should and shoudnt be in the bible. Most Christians believe that god wrote the bible. However, in 325 A.D. the bible and what was to be preached to the flock was debated and voted on by the bishops.
“Hell, give me Don Dokken and George Lynch any day over them. At least Lynch can tear it up…”Steve
Not sure on the Don Dokken part. That band almost would have been better with Pilson singing, and Don staying at home. Anyhow, go youtube George Lynch and Dave Navarro. Dave Nav must have an internet show where he does intervies and what not, and he has guitarist come on and give him a “lesson”. There’s a clip where Lynch is showing him how to play Mr. Scary. Their rap back and forth is actually pretty funny.

Bill Hohn — visit an umpiring camp.

At least Lynch can tear it up…” Steve
