Technically, he was never busted for steroids. Make the distinction, please.
October 20th, 200910:52 pm
Schafer was accused of using HGH but he never tested positive or caught purchasing it.
Not defending him but you might want to get your facts straight.
jeff d–you still rolling your eyes?
And my Rs
October 20th, 200910:53 pm
Never busted. But suspended for 50 games. Riiiiight. Read between the lines. Make the distinction please.
October 20th, 200910:54 pm
Jeffrey d you are a fart head!
October 20th, 200910:55 pm
No, it’s true. He’s never been busted for an anabolic steroid or other performance-enhancing drug.
October 20th, 200910:56 pm
What’s this about the Mets being 2010 WS champs? Nah…..it’s the Phillies!!
October 20th, 200910:57 pm
Then WHY was he suspended for 50 games. Well, they probably found out he was a fag. Maybe he told Chipper he wanted to sniff his jock strap!!!
October 20th, 200910:58 pm
Yes, I have a head made of farts.
October 20th, 200910:59 pm
You have a head made of farts? That would explain alot. That’s pretty funny though. LOL
I don’t know, MetsWSChamps. Maybe if you would “think” with your “brain” you could figure out the answer.
Nah, this is too much fun.
October 20th, 200911:00 pm
Although, I do feel as though I’m disobeying the “don’t feed the idiots” rule right now…
October 20th, 200911:01 pm
You are the one with a head made of farts. That’s pretty idiotic.
It’s okay, Steve. It helps pass the time.
October 20th, 200911:02 pm
MetsWSChamps2010 – You guys are only the offseason champs. Like you are every year!
Wait I thought I was the one with the head made of farts
October 20th, 200911:03 pm
Oh, I get it. You like to SMELL farts!!!! HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
I’m so confoozed.
October 20th, 200911:04 pm
It’s pretty idiotic for you to think the Mets will sign Holliday, when your team is broke. Why didn’t you get Manny Ramirez again, when he was gift wrapped to the Mets? 2 words….Bernie Madoff!
October 20th, 200911:05 pm
Okay guys, if we’re going to trade smack with the Mets trolls, I don’t think we should bring up postseason woes.
October 20th, 200911:06 pm
pretty funny, jeff d. i’d say those calls in the 5th count as living proof that the yankees get way too many bad calls in their favor during the playoffs. the swisher call at third just shows that the exception proves the rule. why, of course…
seriously, though, tim mclelland is singlehandedly making an argument for instant replay. that may well be his legacy after tonight’s game.
Not broke!! Wilpons already debunked that rumor. And has publically stated that the Mets will be big players in the FA pool, and that Omar has “no payroll restrictions”. But realistically, they have about 40 mill to spend!
October 20th, 200911:08 pm
But realistically, they have about 40 mill to spend!
hmm, that sounds familiar…
Aybar — Esco-like!
They were committed to pitching and lowballed Derek Lowe. And then, they sign Oliver Perez, who had NO interest from anybody else. And OVER paid for him. Too bad you guys will suck as long as Omar is your GM, with his fascination of LOS METS!!
October 20th, 200911:09 pm
cab – Crabtree’s starting this week! Your thoughts? (Besides that you don’t like him, of course).
October 20th, 200911:10 pm
MetsWSChamps2010, I live in NYC. That is a farce! And everyone knows it
For your reading pleasure
October 20th, 200911:11 pm
What’s a farce. That some of you posters like to smell farts?
October 20th, 200911:15 pm
I made it just in time for the Mets troll!!
Ja miss me??
October 20th, 200911:17 pm
You must like to smell farts too.
October 20th, 200911:18 pm
Ignore the TROLL
and he’ll fade away…as fast as his CHOCKING NY METS do on a regular basis. Oh wait, this year….they didn’t even get a CHANCE to CHOKE away the NL East. My bad!
The Mets lost 3/4 of a billion dollars with Madoff. That 40 million is a necessity for you guys. The rumor is the Wilpons are looking to sell the Mets there buddy! But you want to hang your hopes on Matt Holliday coming and he will take more than half of that projected 40 million, especially when he has stated he has reservations about playing in Citifield
October 20th, 200911:19 pm
The only thing that SMELLS around here is the STINK coming from an attention starved TROLL.
Kinda like the Braves did a “chocking” against the Marlins and Nats of all teams???? Yeah keep talking.
Braveheart…………..Baseball history is full of players who were, at best, journeymen type pitches who would go through the occasional “catching lighting in a bottle” type of streak, like Buddy Carlyle did in June and July of 2007. However, if you subtract those 2 months from his career…..then his career numbers would SUCK A$$ even more.
2 months does not make a career. I have nothing personal against Buddy. I just want to see the Braves actually develop relievers who have the talent and intelligence to pitch well……..not because Bobby Cox and some misguided Braves fans want to see them do well.
Again, I’d rather have a team full of A$$-Holes who helped the Braves win…….than to have a team full of “Make a Wish Foundation” candidates whose occasional success bring a smile to sentimental, so-called Braves fans……while their many failures contribute to the Braves losing.
Ooooooooh! This is going to be fun with a capital “PH!!!”
October 20th, 200911:21 pm
Supes you are one funny dude. And the Mets aren’t selling the team. Good try though. When the Mets actually sign Holliday and probably Lackey and Marquis. I’ll be back! And the Braves will still be smelling farts!!!
October 20th, 200911:23 pm
I’ll bet now Loaf doesn’t wish he was still on the Angels. If he’s still awake.
October 20th, 200911:25 pm
Loafy’s hanging out with Marteeeeeeeen.
Sorry, it had been a while since I did that.
The Angels are smelling the Yankees farts and it is prohibiting them from actually being able to hit the ball. THAT”S what it is!!!! Farts are bad mkayyyyy?
Pre-World Series rumors almost never pan out. While I think they are top contenders for Holliday, that doesn’t mean he’ll sign there. Who would have thought Dunn signed with the Nats? or Griffey would’ve signed with Seattle, or Tex signed with Yankees so late?
See what I mean?
Them might get Holliday or even Lackey and Marquis (who is garbage, btw), but not both. Sorry kid.
October 20th, 200911:27 pm
I doubt Loaf and Martin hang out
October 20th, 200911:28 pm
I’ll bet now Loaf doesn’t wish he was still on the Angels.
“Hmm miss the playoffs on a foreign team or go to the ALCS with the team I’ve played my whole MLB career with?”
October 20th, 200911:29 pm
Yeah Marquis sure has had a bad year. At least he hasn’t been smelling farts like Derek Lowe. Sorry kid.
October 20th, 200911:30 pm
It was a joke, killerrrrrrrrrr
And, how do you know that? I bet Loaf & Marteen are tight likethis.
October 20th, 200911:32 pm
JJ – jeffrey said you were studying football while you were gone. So, what do you know now?
Ya know, your right…
I bet if Wren knew Lowe smelled farts, he would’ve sign so expensive.
Thank you, MetsWSChamps2010, for broadening my horizons, and showing me the way.
You truly are a valued life, and contribute to society in so many ways.
My gosh, I feel so blessed by your presence.
October 20th, 200911:34 pm
Thanks Jurrjens!!! Any time…and by the way…I think you meant “would’t have”
October 20th, 200911:35 pm
jeffrey said you were studying football while you were gone. So, what do you know now?
I learned that the Football doesn’t discriminate against the blacks, obese, and convicts, NFL uses instant replay too, and the umps look like zebras
you’ve been reported.
October 20th, 200911:36 pm
I think you meant “would’t have”
The first accurate thing you’ve said all night!
I’m so proud!
October 20th, 200911:37 pm
OH! you forgot an “n”!
Now I’m ashamed
and the umps look like zebras
They’re called refs but I get your point.
October 20th, 200911:38 pm
That’s all you’ve learned after like, a week? What about the shotgun formation? Squib kicks? Offensive pass interference???
Say what you want about A-Rod or C.C. but both have been money this playoff run (so far) for the Yankees. With Sabathia you get what you pay for. I guess Kate Hudson has had a “relaxing” influence on A-Rod?
Hey Mets Troll, tell me how does it feel to be a “secret Yankees” fan…since we know come October most of you change into your Yankees gear! At least you can cheer for a winning NY baseball team, unlike your red headed step children from QUEENS!
OOOOhhhhh….REPORTED….MAN and I Scared!!!!

October 20th, 200911:39 pm
Ya know, I like the fact that Lentz is here.
He really adds a lot to the discussion. At the end of the year, with all the hope I had for post-season play, I couldn’t appreciate what dude brings to the blog. But, where I was blind, now I can see.
Entertainment. Pure, unadulterated entertainment, folks.
nolie, no doubt yours was better, but I tried. A for effort?
And, Albany dude, SF has a great park. I’ll be there for all three, and you’ll love it. Not a bad seat in the house, but walk around, see the sights, and bring a jacket. Frickin’ Arctic, sir.
Anders, you’re an idiot.
RHR, nice line with the Snoop-lyrics. Made me laugh ( LOL, for scoots).
Damn, that bitch shot him
October 20th, 200911:40 pm
Flags, holding, field goals, 2 point conversions, to name a few more.
All you need to know is that the Bears lost to my Falcons.
Liked how Colin Cowherd compared the atmosphere in the new NY Mets stadium to a mortuary. That place will be the “death” of the stinking, lousy NY Mets (almost broke into a buck & kincade BEAT the METS song there)…too much fun laughing at a team with just barely 70 wins in one year being talked up by a TROLL as a WS champ with 3-4 FANTASY baseball moves.
October 20th, 200911:41 pm
Of course he is…he’s a NY Mets fan! It’s self explanatory!
October 20th, 200911:42 pm
um, excuse me Arthur Blank but you do not own the Falcons.
October 20th, 200911:43 pm
career innings A$$. Lentz
would SUCK A$$ Lentz
full of A$$-Holes Lentz
Something tells me A$$ Holes are very big in your life.
October 20th, 200911:44 pm
Financially, no. In my head, yes. I own the Braves & Hawks too. Deal with it.
October 20th, 200911:45 pm
What about the shotgun formation? Squib kicks? Offensive pass interference???
Now is not the time to talk about Hockey.
They did? Oh well, glad I don’t give a damn…
In that case I’d like to see you sign Matt Holliday this offseason and LeBron James next offseason.
P. W. Hjort
October 20th, 200911:46 pm
I like Buddy Carlyle. In 2008 he ditched his curveball and stuck with fastball/cutter, resulting in a 3.59 ERA. About as good of a low-leverage reliever as you’ll ever see.
October 20th, 200911:47 pm
I can’t guarantee Holliday but we’re working on LeBron. Also working on getting some new corners for the Falcons since the current ones can’t play to save their lives. *cough* Chris *cough* Houston.
October 20th, 200911:49 pm
I would LOVE to see LeBron James play any sport. Baseball included.
Actually, scratch the LeBron request. I lost a lot of admiration for him after this postseason. Just use the extra money for Holliday, please.
October 20th, 200911:50 pm
I own the Braves & Hawks too. Deal with it.
So you’re the person we can bitch at about financial restrictions?
DUH! ($.25) The Mets already signed ‘em both!
October 20th, 200911:52 pm
We’re in deep you-know-what in the corner dept., especially with the Romo & Brees shows coming up.
lol, there’s actually a really good chance NY teams will end up with Holliday and LeBron
I want you to know that the 25 cents will be put in the go get Matt Holliday fund. Thank you for your contribution. Have a nice day.
October 20th, 200911:53 pm
I was excited about Chris Houston. I thought he was gonna have a great year this year. Then I went to one of the preseason games and saw him get burned again and again. Then he carried it into the season…
Definitely with Brees. Romo – eh, not so much in my opinion. Overrated. (Please don’t come back to bite me this weekend)
October 20th, 200911:54 pm
SO, guess what I found out??
Barry Manilow might be preforming at our HS’s theatre!
If he does, I’d get to work it.
October 20th, 200911:55 pm
Houston got burned over and over last year too. I think pretty much what we see is what we get with him.
October 20th, 200911:56 pm
I’ll have my people contact your people…
He is an SEC guy after all.
(That was for cab)
October 21st, 200912:22 am
We just got back from seeing Leonard Cohen tonight at the Fox. What a terrific show. Dude played 3 hours, 10 minutes, with a 15-minute intermission. Band was across-the-board outstanding, and Cohen remains an elegant badass in suit and fedora, still with one of the great voices in music, not to mention some of the best songs of the past 40 years. A show to remember. Place was packed, and I don’t think a dozen people left before the last song, after three encores.
October 21st, 200912:26 am
Have you ever seen Rush live?
October 21st, 200912:28 am
October 21st, 200912:29 am
Did you like them?
October 21st, 200912:40 am
DOB, I’m currently reading Neil Peart’s third book, I had no idea how tragic his life was, and how tremendously talented he is when it comes to writing.
There is no doubt he is the greatest drummer alive.
October 21st, 200912:42 am
Will Carrol on Mo’s Spitball. Interesting read. It educated me on the illegal pitch.
October 21st, 200912:44 am
Jurrjens: Not one of my favorites back in the day. I was more into Nugent, Queen and Kiss in jr high/ high school, and hard funk like Parliament and Rick James and Bar-Kays (we’re talking late 70s). Then Zep and the Who became my favorites (and still are my favorite hard-rock bands). Then things began to change a lot for me after I first heard punk rock (Clash, Ramones, Sex Pistols) and new wave and what was referred to as “alternative rock” or college rock back in the early 80s, REM and Replacements, Husker Du, the Smiths, etc.
October 21st, 200912:54 am
Old dudes rule, people. And dudettes. Oops
I hope to hell you didn’t amend that on my behalf. Where’s BossLady? She’s older than me by a million, right? I mean, can I help that teenage girls hang out here? No. I’m giving you the virtual stink eye right now, weejun boy.
Hey Dave, yes, I had a good day at work today. Thanks for using your powers for good for a change.
October 21st, 20091:02 am
Oh hell look who’s back.
Braveheart, good stuff on Buddy a couple pages back.
Nolie, I like when you bring out the big N. Its like you’re black tie or something.
Uh…and thats really all I got from the last few pages.
Oh and could you all start writing out the words “right hander’ instead of using “RH” so I don’t accidentally stop on some long boring post because i think someone has mentioned me?

DOB… seen tonight’s SoA yet? Awesome! BTW, thanks for the MiB cover of Father and Son. You sure cost me a lot of money on iTunes.
Wayne in Utah
October 21st, 20093:13 am
While I would never want a player on my team for any reason other than the fact that he can help my club, I sure as heck want Buddy Carlyle to catch on somewhere.
I hope it is back in Atlanta, as I can see that would tick off Paul “dumsheeyt” Dense to NO end.
Come on Buddy, go back and figure out what made you successful in 2008 as a reliever, and rediscover yourself, so we can torment the hell out of the resident blog deekheayd.
October 21st, 20093:30 am
I love music. I particularly love the old 70’s era rock music. Got a thing for “real” country, learned to play guitar on that stuff.
But you guys with your bands I have never heard of……not that I am being critical, but it just shows me how very little I really do know.
I might even like some of the stuff you guys discuss on here, but I am so damned set in my ways to even try it. When I am riding, it is XM Baseball, or Conservative Radio. Once in a blue moon, I will plug in one of my Zep or Eagles CD’s, but even that doesn’t happen much anymore.
Am I getting old??? Sure as heck wish I could sleep.
October 21st, 20093:33 am
Bay Area Steve
If we took up a collection, would you go over and kick some Paul Dense azz for us??? (not that I would ever really do that, but at 1:31am mountain time, the thought crosses my mind…..)
October 21st, 20093:36 am
Tinnitus sucks also……
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
