It’s pretty idiotic for you to think the Mets will sign Holliday, when your team is broke. Why didn’t you get Manny Ramirez again, when he was gift wrapped to the Mets? 2 words….Bernie Madoff!
pretty funny, jeff d. i’d say those calls in the 5th count as living proof that the yankees get way too many bad calls in their favor during the playoffs. the swisher call at third just shows that the exception proves the rule. why, of course…
seriously, though, tim mclelland is singlehandedly making an argument for instant replay. that may well be his legacy after tonight’s game.
Not broke!! Wilpons already debunked that rumor. And has publically stated that the Mets will be big players in the FA pool, and that Omar has “no payroll restrictions”. But realistically, they have about 40 mill to spend!
They were committed to pitching and lowballed Derek Lowe. And then, they sign Oliver Perez, who had NO interest from anybody else. And OVER paid for him. Too bad you guys will suck as long as Omar is your GM, with his fascination of LOS METS!!
and he’ll fade away…as fast as his CHOCKING NY METS do on a regular basis. Oh wait, this year….they didn’t even get a CHANCE to CHOKE away the NL East. My bad!
The Mets lost 3/4 of a billion dollars with Madoff. That 40 million is a necessity for you guys. The rumor is the Wilpons are looking to sell the Mets there buddy! But you want to hang your hopes on Matt Holliday coming and he will take more than half of that projected 40 million, especially when he has stated he has reservations about playing in Citifield
Braveheart…………..Baseball history is full of players who were, at best, journeymen type pitches who would go through the occasional “catching lighting in a bottle” type of streak, like Buddy Carlyle did in June and July of 2007. However, if you subtract those 2 months from his career…..then his career numbers would SUCK A$$ even more.
2 months does not make a career. I have nothing personal against Buddy. I just want to see the Braves actually develop relievers who have the talent and intelligence to pitch well……..not because Bobby Cox and some misguided Braves fans want to see them do well.
Again, I’d rather have a team full of A$$-Holes who helped the Braves win…….than to have a team full of “Make a Wish Foundation” candidates whose occasional success bring a smile to sentimental, so-called Braves fans……while their many failures contribute to the Braves losing.
Supes you are one funny dude. And the Mets aren’t selling the team. Good try though. When the Mets actually sign Holliday and probably Lackey and Marquis. I’ll be back! And the Braves will still be smelling farts!!!
The Angels are smelling the Yankees farts and it is prohibiting them from actually being able to hit the ball. THAT”S what it is!!!! Farts are bad mkayyyyy?
Pre-World Series rumors almost never pan out. While I think they are top contenders for Holliday, that doesn’t mean he’ll sign there. Who would have thought Dunn signed with the Nats? or Griffey would’ve signed with Seattle, or Tex signed with Yankees so late?

Hey Mets Troll, tell me how does it feel to be a “secret Yankees” fan…since we know come October most of you change into your Yankees gear! At least you can cheer for a winning NY baseball team, unlike your red headed step children from QUEENS!

Anders, you’re an idiot.
RHR, nice line with the Snoop-lyrics. Made me laugh ( LOL, for scoots).
Liked how Colin Cowherd compared the atmosphere in the new NY Mets stadium to a mortuary. That place will be the “death” of the stinking, lousy NY Mets (almost broke into a buck & kincade BEAT the METS song there)…too much fun laughing at a team with just barely 70 wins in one year being talked up by a TROLL as a WS champ with 3-4 FANTASY baseball moves.
I like Buddy Carlyle. In 2008 he ditched his curveball and stuck with fastball/cutter, resulting in a 3.59 ERA. About as good of a low-leverage reliever as you’ll ever see.

We just got back from seeing Leonard Cohen tonight at the Fox. What a terrific show. Dude played 3 hours, 10 minutes, with a 15-minute intermission. Band was across-the-board outstanding, and Cohen remains an elegant badass in suit and fedora, still with one of the great voices in music, not to mention some of the best songs of the past 40 years. A show to remember. Place was packed, and I don’t think a dozen people left before the last song, after three encores.
DOB, I’m currently reading Neil Peart’s third book, I had no idea how tragic his life was, and how tremendously talented he is when it comes to writing.
There is no doubt he is the greatest drummer alive.
Jurrjens: Not one of my favorites back in the day. I was more into Nugent, Queen and Kiss in jr high/ high school, and hard funk like Parliament and Rick James and Bar-Kays (we’re talking late 70s). Then Zep and the Who became my favorites (and still are my favorite hard-rock bands). Then things began to change a lot for me after I first heard punk rock (Clash, Ramones, Sex Pistols) and new wave and what was referred to as “alternative rock” or college rock back in the early 80s, REM and Replacements, Husker Du, the Smiths, etc.
I hope to hell you didn’t amend that on my behalf. Where’s BossLady? She’s older than me by a million, right? I mean, can I help that teenage girls hang out here? No. I’m giving you the virtual stink eye right now, weejun boy.
Hey Dave, yes, I had a good day at work today. Thanks for using your powers for good for a change.
Braveheart, good stuff on Buddy a couple pages back.
Nolie, I like when you bring out the big N. Its like you’re black tie or something.
Uh…and thats really all I got from the last few pages.
Oh and could you all start writing out the words “right hander’ instead of using “RH” so I don’t accidentally stop on some long boring post because i think someone has mentioned me?
While I would never want a player on my team for any reason other than the fact that he can help my club, I sure as heck want Buddy Carlyle to catch on somewhere.
I hope it is back in Atlanta, as I can see that would tick off Paul “dumsheeyt” Dense to NO end.
Come on Buddy, go back and figure out what made you successful in 2008 as a reliever, and rediscover yourself, so we can torment the hell out of the resident blog deekheayd.
I love music. I particularly love the old 70’s era rock music. Got a thing for “real” country, learned to play guitar on that stuff.
But you guys with your bands I have never heard of……not that I am being critical, but it just shows me how very little I really do know.
I might even like some of the stuff you guys discuss on here, but I am so damned set in my ways to even try it. When I am riding, it is XM Baseball, or Conservative Radio. Once in a blue moon, I will plug in one of my Zep or Eagles CD’s, but even that doesn’t happen much anymore.
Am I getting old??? Sure as heck wish I could sleep.
If we took up a collection, would you go over and kick some Paul Dense azz for us??? (not that I would ever really do that, but at 1:31am mountain time, the thought crosses my mind…..)

DOB, I’m currently reading Neil Peart’s third book, I had no idea how tragic his life was, and how tremendously talented he is when it comes to writing.
There is no doubt he is the greatest drummer alive.

Will Carrol on Mo’s Spitball. Interesting read. It educated me on the illegal pitch.

Old dudes rule, people. And dudettes. Oops

Oh hell look who’s back.
