Not broke!! Wilpons already debunked that rumor. And has publically stated that the Mets will be big players in the FA pool, and that Omar has “no payroll restrictions”. But realistically, they have about 40 mill to spend!

Braveheart…………..Baseball history is full of players who were, at best, journeymen type pitches who would go through the occasional “catching lighting in a bottle” type of streak, like Buddy Carlyle did in June and July of 2007. However, if you subtract those 2 months from his career…..then his career numbers would SUCK A$$ even more.
2 months does not make a career. I have nothing personal against Buddy. I just want to see the Braves actually develop relievers who have the talent and intelligence to pitch well……..not because Bobby Cox and some misguided Braves fans want to see them do well.
Again, I’d rather have a team full of A$$-Holes who helped the Braves win…….than to have a team full of “Make a Wish Foundation” candidates whose occasional success bring a smile to sentimental, so-called Braves fans……while their many failures contribute to the Braves losing.

Pre-World Series rumors almost never pan out. While I think they are top contenders for Holliday, that doesn’t mean he’ll sign there. Who would have thought Dunn signed with the Nats? or Griffey would’ve signed with Seattle, or Tex signed with Yankees so late?

Them might get Holliday or even Lackey and Marquis (who is garbage, btw), but not both. Sorry kid.

Say what you want about A-Rod or C.C. but both have been money this playoff run (so far) for the Yankees. With Sabathia you get what you pay for. I guess Kate Hudson has had a “relaxing” influence on A-Rod?

Liked how Colin Cowherd compared the atmosphere in the new NY Mets stadium to a mortuary. I like Buddy Carlyle. In 2008 he ditched his curveball and stuck with fastball/cutter, resulting in a 3.59 ERA. About as good of a low-leverage reliever as you’ll ever see.

We just got back from seeing Leonard Cohen tonight at the Fox. What a terrific show. Dude played 3 hours, 10 minutes, with a 15-minute intermission. Band was across-the-board outstanding, and Cohen remains an elegant badass in suit and fedora, still with one of the great voices in music, not to mention some of the best songs of the past 40 years. A show to remember. Place was packed, and I don’t think a dozen people left before the last song, after three encores.

Jurrjens: Not one of my favorites back in the day. I was more into Nugent, Queen and Kiss in jr high/ high school, and hard funk like Parliament and Rick James and Bar-Kays (we’re talking late 70s). Then Zep and the Who became my favorites (and still are my favorite hard-rock bands). Then things began to change a lot for me after I first heard punk rock (Clash, Ramones, Sex Pistols) and new wave and what was referred to as “alternative rock” or college rock back in the early 80s, REM and Replacements, Husker Du, the Smiths, etc.

I love music. I particularly love the old 70’s era rock music. Got a thing for “real” country, learned to play guitar on that stuff.
But you guys with your bands I have never heard of……not that I am being critical, but it just shows me how very little I really do know.
I might even like some of the stuff you guys discuss on here, but I am so damned set in my ways to even try it. When I am riding, it is XM Baseball, or Conservative Radio. Once in a blue moon, I will plug in one of my Zep or Eagles CD’s, but even that doesn’t happen much anymore.
Am I getting old??? Sure as heck wish I could sleep.
