JJ gives me reason to think he will be just as good if not better because as he did in 08, he was just as good and not only that but better!!! and for what its worth… the reason to think javy will be just as good is 2 fold… he is playing for a team and a manager and a team that likes having him there and he also pitches in the NL for those of you who believe that makes a difference!!!

give me a braves pitching staff even if no deal can not be made with huddy over the mets staff any day till 2011

Mets Fans:

You want me to tell you why your Mets choke & fall apart? When a team has no farm system & tries it’s hardest to compete with a better, way more successful franchise across town, you FAIL. Reason being is that these overpaid, arrogant FA ya’ll sign just don’t bring chemistry & desire like your own young, homegrown talent will. Wright & Reyes do, but they obviously can’t do it alone. Oh, & management is a damn joke.

Prediction: Look for the Mets to suffer another very disappointing, laughing stock of a season in 2010 regardless of what high priced FA they buy this winter.

That Mets fan got those names of guys Atlanta might go after from a chat script on mlbtr from earlier. I read it & a question was asked who the Braves might go after as their big bat. Willingham/Fox/Dye/Cantu was the his answer. Well, no, I just don’t see any of those, besides maybe Dye if he can somehow rebound, as serious targets unless all else fails which I doubt because the team has plenty of parts to trade that other teams would lineup for.

Good riddance, Buddy Carlyle. One less BUM for Bobby Cox to be tempted to use in the bullpen for the 2010 season. I hope that I never see his career 5.61 ERA and 40 homers given up in 245 career innings A$$.

If Jorge Campillo can show that he has recovered from his injuries, then he would be the ideal candidate for the long relief, spot starter in the bullpen. He’d be cheap and expendable (in other words, if his arm falls off due to overuse, it wont hurt the Braves financially). However if he can excel as the rubber arm in the bullpen, then it helps the Braves.

There’s better reason to hate Buddy Carlyle. If Buddy Carlyle had pitched like Buddy Carlyle in June & July of 2007, perhaps the Braves never would have made the Tex deal. The Braves were 7-3 in his 10 starts those 2 months, and he averaged 6 IP per start while having a 3.86 ERA. Maybe his performance over those 2 months left them too wishful that he could continue pitching like that over the last two months after getting Tex, but it wasn’t meant to be. They went 4-5 in his last 9 starts, and he had a 7.09 ERA in those starts. If you’re going to hate him, hate him for that.

But I can’t hate Buddy. I’ll remember him as a guy that came out of nowhere, who had little reason to keep fighting for a career as a big leaguer, and who nobody but Gil from Mechanicsville was mentioning after seeing him in Richmond during the first 2 months of 2007.

I’ll remember Buddy as the fella who helped the Braves win 9 of his first 12 starts, and kept their hopes for contention alive in 2007 after Davies and Redman fell on their faces, Larew went down with an injury, and while Cormier and JoJo were doing the Davies/Redman faceplant themselves. Everyone believed in those 5 guys more than the journeyman minor leaguer named Buddy that season, but Buddy was hungrier than all of them combined.

Buddy then went on to have a decent showing in 2008 as a reliever, demonstrating growth under the sinkerballer McDowell, showing an increased ability to strike out batters while inducing more groundballs and keeping more balls in the park than he historically had been. He gave his team many respectable innings in a season where there wasn’t much respectable about the Braves.

Then the diabetes hit, and, well, we’ll, and more importantly Buddy Carlyle, will never know how much he could have continued his moderate level of success, or whether he was just pitching way over his head and was doomed to regress to the pitcher he was once was.

I certainly wouldn’t label Buddy a BUM. That’s ridiculous. The guy kept pushing, chasing and working towards achieving the dream we all had but didn’t have the talent or work ethic to chase, never mind achieve. He dragged his family all around the globe for years chasing that dream.

I’d perhaps label Jeff Bennett a bum because he turned himself into a serviceable major leaguer by finally getting his fat arse in shape, but then once he tasted a moderate level of success, he took it for granted and let himself get fat again, and he went back to sucking.

That wasn’t true whatsoever of Buddy. Dude busted his arse, and maximized every last ounce of his ability, but got screwed by diabetes, and maybe also the deal he made with the Devil inevitably being revoked.

Not in the least. You live where baseball fans are passionate about their ballclubs. We can’t even sell-out a freekin playoff game down here! It’s embarrassing if you want to know the truth.

Not that there’s anything that can be done about it. It is what it is……..sad. :(

We won 14 straight division titles and STILL couldn’t sell-out a P.O. game at the end of THAT run.

once had a good time hanging with cubs fans too in the upper deck of wrigley field. they shared peanuts and cotton candy with my ex and i! but i think it helped that the cubs won that game too!

Mixxo… If you saw what i saw every year when i go to different parks… you would feel better about the fans.. our fans are all over.. if we moved all the die hard fans around this fine country you would have to make a football stadium just to fit the fans in every day.

example. the braves V rockies this summer… i walked into coors field as the braves scored 2 runs… from the sound of the cheers from the crowd you would think the rox just scored the runs… our fans travel and they have the same stories of being a kid in 92 sneaking peaks to see who was winning and what was going on in the game after mom and dad told us to go to bed!

braves fans get a bad name cus you always look at home games
