Too bad it’s not the nation’s first state-chartered school.
But I guess only one awesome school can hold that title.
October 3rd, 20094:56 pm
49 yards of total offense. That’s embarrassing. I’ll bet me, Lentz, and Norton could get at least 20.
WOW I see that D.O.B.’s Facebook Group is up to almost 200 members…
He is “Creepin On Ah Come Up”
October 3rd, 20094:57 pm
where are you watching the WM game?
Well, nevermind. Looks like it’s halftime for VJ’s team.
jeffrey d, you better get a 100 yads, they would kill Lentz.
October 3rd, 20094:58 pm
cab, Versus network.
cab, on Dish it’s channel 151 (VS. channel). I didn’t even know that channel existed until CB just mentioned it. I actually have it too.
If VJ asks, I didn’t say that his school was held in a couple’s basement.
October 3rd, 20094:59 pm
Wow, JJ already has 6 strikeouts.
October 3rd, 20095:00 pm
I’d certainly hope we get at least 100 yards.
JJ the pitcher, JJ the blogger, or JJ the fat guy?
October 3rd, 20095:01 pm
There’s the Nats defense we all know and love.
DirecTV took Versus off their lineup because they wanted to charge too much money…oh well (maybe VJ will get to see it)
my lips are sealed…although I may have already mentioned that to him
October 3rd, 20095:02 pm
The real JJ.
Oh good…I was scared we weren’t going to hear about Tebow today. Thanks, halftime show.
October 3rd, 20095:03 pm
Anybody talking negative, W& M is a great school.
October 3rd, 20095:04 pm
That would be jeffrey doing the negative talking, CB.
Nate Dawg! WTF…!
And the Frontrunners in Atlanta thought this team could Succeed in October, Please!
October 3rd, 20095:05 pm
What did I say besides Georgia’s offense that was negative?
All I said was that I didn’t know where W&M was
October 3rd, 20095:06 pm
Wow, McClouth has been tough to watch was a Brave. I believe that is already 6 times he has been caught stealing as a Brave. When they got him he had only been caught stealing 2 times in his career. Although he has experienced some hamstring problems, it is safe to say he has been a disappointment in Atlanta.
October 3rd, 20095:07 pm
Ian Desmond Has killed us this series…! That was a 420 footer!
October 3rd, 20095:08 pm
jeffrey d, I was not talking about anybody, just know it is a fine school.
See? Tomahawk Mafia is negative.
McLouth had 5 CSs before he was a Brave, btw.
The Braves as a team have been difficult to watch on this homestand, it’s almost as if they have become complacent and just going through the motions.
October 3rd, 20095:10 pm
What happened to B-Mac?
Yeah, I like to pick on Nate a bit, so I guess that is negative. Thanks for setting me straight on the amount of Caught stealings with the Pirates
October 3rd, 20095:11 pm
At least we are playing a good game on offense so far today.
Nevermind, guess he’s okay.
Does anyone know who’s calling the games in the TBS games…
I know Chip Caray will bge doing it. I’m curious if Joe Simpson will be callinbg those games as well?
Ron Darling will be there but who else
Maybe Buck Martinez…? He’s pretty good…
Nice stab by ESCO…
Great play, Esco!
October 3rd, 20095:12 pm
Another great play by Escobar.
October 3rd, 20095:14 pm
Soph What happened to B-Mac?
October 3rd, 20095:15 pm
In any case, they need at least two outfielders, even granting Heyward gets there in the summer. Nate McLouth is still a fourth OF masquerading as a starting CF.
I’m not a huge Nate McLouth fan, but I think calling him a fourth outfielder is a little harsh. I will say this though, the guy hasn’t been very good against lefties over the course of his career: .242/.317/.390 in 521 plate appearances. Another reason why we need a RH hitter, as oppose to a LH hitter.
October 3rd, 20095:16 pm
If we lose these last 2 then our last 30 we will be 15-15 so much for that 15-2 streak. FIRE COX
Man, a majority of the music they Play at Tooner Field is Gawd-Awful…
Which is why I like they music they play at other stadiums better.
Thanks, McFann. I had flipped channels and when I switched back, Mac was bent over and Bobby & the trainer were looking at him. I figured it was a foul ball.
October 3rd, 20095:17 pm
I guess it’s a credit to Chipper that he’s still showing plate discipline. But if that’s me with that homer streak on the line — he needs two to become the first major leaguer ever to start his career with 15 seasons with at least 20 homers — then I’m up there hacking.
October 3rd, 20095:18 pm
Put this season out of its misery…
Of course FOX has to bring up the whole Believe thing again.
October 3rd, 20095:19 pm
I’d advocated moving Jurrjens, but I’m less certain of that now, because while I think there’s risk with him, there’s clearly upside. But he could bring back the kind of hitter the Braves could really use, a talent-under-control like Jurrjens.
Second writer for BP that has brought it up. I get that it would bring back what we need, and probably a young power hitter too. But I think given the age of our other starters, it just wouldn’t make sense to trade Jair. I understand that his perceived value may be higher than his actual value, but there are quite a few young pitchers like that, and because they’re still so cheap, it doesn’t make sense for their current clubs to trade them. But I get the reasoning behind it, just don’t think it’s the right scenario for this Braves team.
At least McCarver said Diaz’s name right. Thank you, Tim.
CY, What’s His Name, is looking Good
Isn’t his name is Detwiler, I think…?
Cheesewhiz, Is this team hungover…? We are making the AAA Nats look playoff caliber again…!
October 3rd, 20095:20 pm
.278 now. Does he have to end this thing is such crummy fashion? Gyah…
October 3rd, 20095:24 pm
DEFENSE! Where have you been all game??
Wow, that was great D by Georgia.
Efrim, agreed on Jurrjens, why would we trade him at his age unless it is for a Longoria or Braun type player. It would have to be a very good power hitter.
October 3rd, 20095:26 pm
Oh but the offense is back
3rd and long…let’s not throw a screen or run a draw please
October 3rd, 20095:30 pm
Georgia is Doomed, WTF!
Cue the Price is Right Fail Horn…
October 3rd, 20095:31 pm
Willie Harris was removed from the game with an oblique strain. I’m afraid it could be season-ending.
Wow. jeffrey, are you crying?
October 3rd, 20095:32 pm
The Braves have been all or nothing offensively all season, but this is just unbelievable the way that they have hit against the pitchless Washington Nationals.
They should donate their last 3 games checks to charity!!!
October 3rd, 20095:33 pm
Poor, VJ’s school too. 21-9 Nova.
October 3rd, 20095:36 pm
The Nats want to save on airfare.
Too bad the Braves couldn’t have shut it down a few days ago. Because they are a different team than they were during the 15-2 surge. Just sleepwalking.
O is looking good!
October 3rd, 20095:38 pm
I’m afraid it could be season-ending.
Is it bad that I thought that was funny?
I sure feel like it, Soph.
But we got it back with good field position.
All of the BRAVES should be hacking! How much of a difference would it make it the results that they’ve achieved thus far?
One hit and no runs against a pitcher that came into the game with a plus 5 era!!
October 3rd, 20095:39 pm
And our first big run of the game comes halfway through the 3rd quarter!
McFann – I think it was meant to be funny
October 3rd, 20095:40 pm
Tomhawkin: What’s that group called again on Facebook? I need to get on there and check it out, now that we’re winding things down here. (Winding things down on the season, not on the blog. Oh, no. That will continue all winter, so everyone stay with us.)
October 3rd, 20095:42 pm
DOB – here’s the link to the Facebook group. Notice our remakes of the “Believe” signs
TnBrian(Vazquez ace 2010)
October 3rd, 20095:44 pm
Does Chipper ever NOT have something in his mouth?
October 3rd, 20095:47 pm
No…now, don’t change pitchers!
I think so, too.
October 3rd, 20095:48 pm
Definitely check out my personal fav, DOB. The Loaf Believe sign.
Can Chipper Jones suck more than that?
October 3rd, 20095:49 pm
I’m feeling a lot better….for now.
October 3rd, 20095:50 pm
Mac a lac! Woo hoo.
Yes, the Loaf Believe sign is beautiful.
Oh, for all of you that can’t see the game or choose not to -
2-2. Mac just tied with a 2 rbi single.
October 3rd, 20095:51 pm
Haha! New career-high in RBI!! 94! Wasn’t a double, but I’ll take it.
That gave McCann a career-high 94 RBI (old high was 93 in 2006)
October 3rd, 20095:52 pm
Beat ya to the punch, Chief.
Yay, for McCann!
October 3rd, 20095:53 pm
Awesome swing there by Mac.
You have to be worried about Chipper. He’s an out making machine these days & if the team is serious about getting to the playoffs next year & going deep in it, Chipper’s either going to have to get better or hit lower in the lineup. There’s no way I could see Bobby doing that because he’s Chipper Jones. And I don’t think he’ll be Francoeur-like enough for Cox to consider it.
Hearing Wren on the radio this afternoon does make you feel good though. He knows a power bat is a must and says he would ideally like to get a RH one that can give you 30 or more HR’s.
Do You Plan on Posting on the Facebook Blog since the regular blog will start slowing down after the playoffs…?
If I’m correct there is a lot of deadtime after the Awards are handed out as well as we find out who will file for free agancy…
Good Game out in Athens…
October 3rd, 20095:54 pm
The UGA game is getting Good!
GO GO GO
October 3rd, 20095:55 pm
Oh yeah, thanks Soph
Those signs on the facebook page are hilarious, I especially like the Braves Bingo board as well.
TOUCHDOWN!! Barring another missed kick, we’re about to take the lead
October 3rd, 20095:56 pm
A belated Marteeeeeen for getting on base earlier. I saw it but wasn’t near my computer so I didn’t get a chance to say it.
October 3rd, 20095:57 pm
I saw it but wasn’t near my computer so I didn’t get a chance to say it.
Did you say it out loud?
October 3rd, 20095:58 pm
I said it out loud when it happened. I couldn’t type it though. I have to do both.
October 3rd, 20095:59 pm
I was just curious if you say it out loud too.
Don’t blow this, D
October 3rd, 20096:00 pm
Yup, I do.
#88 on LSU is an idiot.
“What about the organist”? Random
I don’t know, Random. I guess what you’d expect at a baseball stadium is all I can tell you. Guess you’re already there & have figured that out.
October 3rd, 20096:01 pm
I am so bummed Boog is leaving!I have enjoyed listening to he & Joe so very much…they spoiled me so that I couldn’t stand it when the game was on another channel! Boog is smart & funny with a unique style that I really loved. I understand why he’s going, sounds like an upward move! Good luck, we will miss you!! As for my fave Brave Matty D: I am so upset I won’t get to see him play when I’m at the game Sunday with my Mom & kids! I was considering making a sign & everything, something along the lines of :Hey, Matty D, you’re still OK with me! Thanks also to DOB & Caroll, I have really enjoyed this blog even the “loony tunes” bloggers who are so very dedicated. Goodbye Braves Blog. Onto the Falcons now…
Number everybody on our D is an idiot.
October 3rd, 20096:03 pm
The UGA D’s been good today though, right? I haven’t really watched but they’ve only given up 6 points.
Who Did The Bingo thing on D.O.B.’S Facebook group…?
I think RHR Did it but I wanna be sure…?
Its funny but It sucks that we’ll have to remove Boob from the Bingo board….
RHR made the bingo card.
October 3rd, 20096:07 pm
That’s a shame that you won’t get to see Matty play tomorrow!
October 3rd, 20096:09 pm
Geez, Cox. (Joe not Bobby)
I respect the heck out of Bobby for leaving JJ in. Guess he wants him to get the win as much as JJ himself. Poor guy has been robbed all season by his own offense.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
