Thanks, Jurrjens4NLCY, from the one Twins fan that reads Braves blogs
October 2nd, 200910:51 pm
What the hell’s to be said. NYTOL. That’s about it.
October 2nd, 200910:52 pm
Sad to see that Boog Sciambi is leaving the Braves, but congratulations to him on his full-time job at ESPN! Great move for him. Hopefully he can replace Stuart Scott’s “boo-yow!”
October 2nd, 200910:54 pm
And congrats to Ryan and Tina Church!
Good luck tomorrow against pain in the azz ‘NOVA.
October 2nd, 200910:55 pm
You got any one Twins blogs?
Braves and Twins are my two favorite teams…
I hate that Meadowcreek has to play football, period.
Gonna miss Boog. Wonder who’ll be his partner in ESPN.
October 2nd, 200910:59 pm
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH – BOOG is leaving. Get us some “homer” to replace him. I want someone that cares whether the Braves win or lose. ESPN is exactly where he belongs….. he could care less about the Braves and bores me with his unrelated facts.
October 2nd, 200911:00 pm
He’ll have Jeff Bennett pitch to Greg Norton and the universe will explode.
The answer is nobody.
Because it’s impossible for a pitcher to give-up a homer, and a hitter strike-out, on the same pitch, there’s a new theory called the “Bennett/Norton Paradox.” If the Bennett/Norton showdown were to ever take place, the first pitch and swing would create so much bad karma that Turner Field would explode/implode into a black-hole, sucking the earth and inhabitants asunder.
Did’aliddle quantum psycho-physics to come-up with all’iss.. Y’all can thank me later…
My problem with Georgia’s chances tomorrow is that in recent years, UGA has fallen flat in big games at home. Alabama and Tech last year, UT the year before that (and in 2004), Auburn in 2005, etc.
But, they are good on the road.
Two years ago, they beat Bama in Tuscaloosa, and then got slaughtered by them last year.
Also last year, they smacked LSU around in Baton Rouge . . . gives me bad feelings about tomorrow.
I hope I’m wrong.
After watching Kentucky get slaughtered by Alabama, I’ll be looking for my other alma mater to do something to at least make me feel like I haven’t wasted 7 hours come 6:00 CDT.

I will also miss Boog very much. Boog and Joe were a great team and they really seemed to get along well. It seemed real not forced or contrived like it did when Joe worked with Dip Caray. I am begging the braves not to replace Boog with Dip. That would be awful.
On many occasions when Joe worked with Dip I thought he was going to reach accross the booth and slap him around. Joe was constantly correcting him. Dip is a doofus.
Thanks Shamus….that’s what I was implying.
I would expect Bennett to strike Norton out, only to have the ball squirt away, and Norton reach base on the passed ball; however, it wouldn’t matter, because Diaz would get picked off third; only, Bennett wouldn’t see it because he would break his toe, kicking the pitching rubber.
Time for the Twins to bare down here!!
October 2nd, 200911:06 pm
I hope I’m way wrong here but I really think they’re going to stick Ron Gant in the booth with Simpson.
-Good one, Shamus
Man, I reallly REALLY want to see Bennett face Norton!!
Jurrjens4NLCY, I do most of my Twins chatting on KFAN Rube Chat (not a Twins board per se, but a MN sports board). The Twins are my team, but I started following the Braves closely this year once they signed Kenshin. (I’m also a Chunichi fan, as I lived near Nagoya for a year and a half, so I keep tabs on how Fukudome and Kawkami are doing.)
October 2nd, 200911:09 pm
I don’t mind Ron Gant, hes got a cool sexy voice that says, “Shhh baby, its coo, I’m here fo you…”
October 2nd, 200911:11 pm
I remember at the start of the season I was anticipating so many unrealistic seasons. Kelly Johnson hitting 330 with 25 homers and 50 doubles…LOL……Jeff Franceour hitting 270 with 20 homers and 90 RBI’s……Greg Norton hitting over 200…….Jeff Bennet with a 3.30 ERA and 15 holds…….Jordan Schafer hitting 270 with 9 homers and 25 SB…….And Chipper hitting 320, with 25 homers and 100RBI’s
I would love to see the O’s Gary Thorne get Boog’s gig. He is outstanding.
October 2nd, 200911:12 pm
Joe Simpson is a color commentator, not a play-by-play man. Gant will likely never do play-by-play.
Yes, I realize that sometimes people change roles; but, I don’t think that Simpson will be given the difficult task of doing play-by-play, while a rookie gets color duties. I just can’t see it.
Fox will probably go out and try to get someone decent to do play-by-play for the Braves, and Joe Simpson will remain in his current role.
October 2nd, 200911:13 pm
COMMENTS FROM BOOG:
“I’m going to miss it a ton,” Jon Sciambi said. “The first thing when I think of fun I think of working with Joe (Simpson). It’s as good of an experience as I’ve had professionally. I can honestly say I hope I get to do this for a long, long time, but I don’t think I’ll ever have the chemistry that I had with him. It worked great. I looked forward to seeing him every day. I looked forward to working with him every day. And we had fun every day.”
about the new job at ESPN
“I’m excited,” Sciambi said. “It’s a cool opportunity to be with ESPN and do big games. It was a really hard decision because I really loved my time here and everybody welcomed me from the start. Fans are awesome. It’s funny, the Braves organization has a reputation for being one of the classiest in the game. And it lived up to every word you hear.”
October 2nd, 200911:15 pm
I agree they need a play by play guy to replace Boog.
October 2nd, 200911:16 pm
I love Boog!
Marc Fein=$1, Brian Jordan=$10, Ron Gant=$100, Don Sutton=$1000, and Chip Caray=New speaker phones……Boog=priceless

October 2nd, 200911:19 pm
Get ready for another stinking load of crap as long as BOOBY is in charge.
I love the bravos, they can finish off a tank job like true professionals. Lets just lose out here, that would be perfect!
Soph – we all hope you’re wrong.
October 2nd, 200911:20 pm
all the crap announcers go to ESPN, regardless of gender. See=Erin Andrews
October 2nd, 200911:21 pm
How many people who give a BLANK about high school football(And I’m excluding recruiting) actually went to college? I’ve NEVER heard a surgeon, orthodontist, CFO, economist, engineer, etc express any interest in the football exploits of his or her old high school. Is it solely because for many HIGH SCHOOL is their SOLE Alma Mater?
Well, lucky for ya’ll, I’m not 99% right like a certain someone. I’m usually wrong.
October 2nd, 200911:22 pm
Boog, Nuff Respect…!
October 2nd, 200911:23 pm
Joe Morgan, Joe Miller vs Joe Buck and his partner
Hardee’s is advertising this new 3 patty 3 cheese burger as being bigger and more manly than the Big Mac. Are we just not worried about heart disease anymore?
October 2nd, 200911:24 pm
When announcers are picked, they places two types of guys together.
The first guy is an ex player and analyst. (Joe Simpson, Ron Gant, etc.)
The second guy is an actual commentator, someone who is paid because they are good at talking, a play by play guy. (Skip Caray, Chip Caray, Boog)
So Ron Gant would not be Joe’s partner…
SEE=GEORGIA BULLDOG FANS…
THE BIGGER THE G, THE STUPIDER THEY ARE.
October 2nd, 200911:25 pm
If only we could get Lentz’s “prediction” (prediction in quotes because he’s rarely wrong). I don’t want to wait until March to know who our new announcer will be.
I’ve really enjoyed listening to Boog the last 3 years…I’m going to miss him
Ron Gant has been Joe’s partner before.
October 2nd, 200911:26 pm
You can’t hear Boog, CAB.
Hardee’s is advertising this new 3 patty 3 cheese burger as being bigger and more manly than the Big Mac. Are we just not worried about heart disease anymore
then don’t eat it you stupid obama voter.
October 2nd, 200911:27 pm
Wow, deja vu. Just like last night, huh?
i hope it’s not Marc Fein
Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear!
October 2nd, 200911:28 pm
Wow, someone’s angry.
Don Sutton is an analist too, and he was Joe’s partner for a few years.
Hi, Hogan/Semaphore/all those other names from last night.
Objects in the mirror are stupider than they appear
October 2nd, 200911:29 pm
IOC is racist, because they didn’t pick Obama for the olympics.
Tomas is an ANAList, I bet.

what Joe has to say about being his partner, I dunno.

You can always tell public school graduates, but not much.
No wonder my comments kept getting eaten: I kept trying to use Kosuke’s last name
You can’t even talk about burgers without offending people anymore.

Wonder if Pete would ever consider coming back, I’d love to have the Professor back in the booth
October 2nd, 200911:33 pm
I know, but thats only on special occasion. Not every game…
Braves should pick Jonathan Brandmeier!
OMG THAT WOULD BE SWEEEEEEEET!!!
Sappho, it’s because you expect Obama to outlaw things you don’t like. Just don’t eat the damn things if you don’t like them, and mind your own biz.
October 2nd, 200911:35 pm
Derek Lowe had lots to say after his start. Usually a self-deprecating guy. He was that and more tonight…..Have a look:
“This pretty much sums it up right here,” Lowe said of his start. “This kinda how it’s been for three months and just really don’t know where I went wrong. I got into so many bad habits, as far as mechanics. I put a lot of time and effort to try to correct it. It just seemed like it was never there. I had another 100-pitch, five-inning stint, not even. Disappointing. And when you end this way, there’s a friend of mine down there (in Ft. Myers, Fla.) that I’ve worked with before. We’ll probably continue to work on things starting Wednesday. Not necessarily throwing, but you don’t want to sit on two months’ worth of this. You want to, when you get back throwing in January, have it all figured out. So it’ll be a lot of video-watching and trying to repeat what you need to do.”
Lowe said he’s flying open and when he does hitters can pick up the pitch easily and that’s why they’re squaring so many balls.
“It was frightening how bad I’ve gotten as far as mechanically,” Lowe said. “I don’t know where or what game took it to the turn for the worst…but there’s a serious deception problem and today again, what was evident. How many balls did they square up? That’s kind of been the reoccurring theme.”
And this, on his season overall:
“There were definitely good games thrown in there, but the last three months have just been…” Lowe said. “When you only pitch seven innings a handful of times all year. That’s not good. It’s disappointing. It’s frustrating. But it’s over. I don’t have to go out there and keep banging my head against a wall anymore this year. Really come back next year with different stuff and be more competitive.”
October 2nd, 200911:36 pm
I like to see Don Sutton back in the booth with Joe. He has tremendous insight into pitching and the entire game.
We are to be referred to homosapiens!
But I guess some homosapiens don’t like to be “PC.”

Dunn is Horrible defensively…
I Think Part of it has to do with the fact the he was a Football Player when he was in College for the most part
“He came up as a 3rd/1st baseman in the minors, his defense was so bad they moved him to the OF…
And now that N. Johnson is injured he’s at first again”
Well, yeah, that and the fact that two months ago Johnson was TRADED TO THE MARLINS!
Death to PC and death to MAC
OK….did a PROFESSIONAL sportswriter really just start this story with “you and me”.

October 2nd, 200911:41 pm
Good night, all! Have to prepare the game plan for ‘Nova.
cabravesfan – get some sleep, darling! Tough game for your boys tomorrow!
That’s a wrap for me on this game, and on this season.
I’m sure I’ll be around some in the winter too, but I just wanted to say thanks for your company this year. You’ve given me story ideas, you’ve kept me on my toes (with the lineup as much as anything!! ha), and you’ve given me moral support too, for my marathon. Thanks y’all! (except those who had no faith in me on the Greg Norton thing. If I could spell spitting out my tongue, that’s what I’d be doing here……)
This blog is solid as ever, thanks to all DOB’s hard work and all the time and energy you guys put into it. It’s going to help me keep doing what I love to do, so for that I’m extremely grateful.
Take it easy….
Well, I see where we had LaRoche in the cleanup spot tonight. Hope all of you who were screaming for this are happy now.
October 2nd, 200911:42 pm
Don’t let the screen door hit you, Joe Biden you plagiarist.
October 2nd, 200911:43 pm
ご苦労様です, Carroll. (Trans: Thanks for your hard work.)
Good Night! I will do my best to keep you informed on your boys (especially since I can’t watch the Braves game…)
I can’t hear Boog? why not??
Villanova? I’ve actually heard of that one.
Thanks, Carroll! It’s been fun.
You mentioned that maybe the Braves can find a taker for Lowe. Unfortunately, his value has probably gone down based on the way he has finished the season. I wonder if a team would want a guy from the National League who had almost 5 ERA, but will make $45 mil over 3 years.
Frank Wren has his work cut out for him, because the Braves also need a closer. Soriano is 1-6 with a 3.05 ERA, and 4 blown saves. (Although he might have been more effective if Bobby cut down on his non-save appearances).
Well done, Carroll! Go Devils’ Hoops!
October 2nd, 200911:44 pm
I’m glad we didn’t get the Olympics, Obama and Oprah need to concentrate on bigger issues, right Lou Vales?
Who plays Villanova?
Thanks Carroll! I hope you’ll be around next season too
Amen, brother Vinings Jim!
October 2nd, 200911:45 pm
CAB – I just didn’t think California was in SportSouth’s broadcast radius.
me too, thanks jeffrey d. and soph. and firearm.
October 2nd, 200911:46 pm
>>I’m glad we didn’t get the Olympics, Obama and Oprah need to concentrate on bigger issues, right Lou Vales?
Like Destroying AmeriDUH. Obama’s Breakdown will be Televised.
William & Mary I believe. Unless they’re playing some really small school like Casanova or something.
October 2nd, 200911:47 pm
What time does UGA play tomorrow?
Take it easy, Carroll.
Thanks for the hard work.
October 2nd, 200911:48 pm
Are you coming back in the winter a lot??
Well, goodbye and thanks.. (For now…)
October 2nd, 200911:50 pm
jeffrey d – I think it’s a dental school – Nova Caine…
Shut up, shut up right now…
Chicago worked REALLY REALLY hard to get the Olympics…
Ugh. All that money and work…
October 2nd, 200911:51 pm
nope, just double checked – we do play Villanova…
haha, Nova Caine…
October 2nd, 200911:52 pm
Villanova. Decent basketball school…I dunno about football though.
Were you counting down the time to my response, Soph? You’re good.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
