Oh no. I don’t want to be mad at Marteen.
Tonight feels like a night from Octobers past.
September 30th, 200910:10 pm
loooooser you suck matt
Well…I wasn’t really expectin’ it to end that way…for sure !!
It’s too bad that Cox already used Norton. We could really use him right here to kill this rally, and all hope.
That just happened. Wow.
Doesn’t get any better than that.
Glad I stopped caring.
you’ve got to be f-ing kidding me
September 30th, 200910:11 pm
Mattttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! You idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Poor Matty….he’s gonna live with this for awhile
What a bad way for it to end!! Matt keeps running, he scores!
I can’t believe it ended like this, I just can’t
Ok, well time to cheer for the Brewers.
Well, at least I don’t have to be mad at Marteen.
September 30th, 200910:12 pm
You have got to be kidding me. This is how the Braves chances are going to end?
Kind of fitting, actually. Not that it was Diaz. But that it was just so … bad.
The Braves are like girls I knew in high school. You think you have no shot. Then they let you think you might have a shot. And then they step on your … hey now.
Haha. It sure does.
Hey was that last marlins pitcher even old enough to drive yet?
Enter your vomit here
What happened, I’m on gamecast!?!?!?!
September 30th, 200910:13 pm
back at 9:07 I called for a rally and a win … I can stand up and admit when I’m wrong, but I don’t think this should count
oh my god i hate this team
wow. im gona go cry in a corner
Not a lot to say – ten minutes ago I was adjusting to losing – now, major kick in the stomach…
How ironic that it came down to one play. He runs, we tie, and I bet we win. He doesnt and he gets picked off and we lose. This one hurts real bad.

September 30th, 200910:14 pm
wow. just wow.
Only 166 games to go.
Just lost my dinner.
That is the perfect way to end the game and end the season!!
This game is the Braves season:
In the beginning, they can’t hit.
In the end, they start hitting, get your hopes up, and fail, MISERABLY!!
Good thing I gots me sitcoms and cookies!
keep running tie game with Prado ahead in the count. What was Diaz thinking? What a way to lose the game and basically end our playoff run!
Not to beat a dead horse but that is baseball karma when you ignore children seeking autographs and you treat fans as rudely as the Braves did when I was in town this year.
Braves still need to finish strong to help this run carry into next year. We have the rotation for the playoffs. Signing LaRoche and finding a power bat for LF with possible Heyward in RF we will have the lineup to back up our starters
Went half way…then stopped…then went a couple more steps…then stopped again…then went back…NOT sure I believe what I just saw.
God doesn’t require us to succeed; he only requires that you try. – Mother Teresa
Thats right! I went Mother Teresa on you rednecks!
See you next year punks. Same Bat time. Same Bat channel. Im out for 2009!!!
September 30th, 200910:15 pm
That is about as bad as it gets!
Matt Diaz got picked off third on a wild pitch, one the first pitch…
Mid Town Joe
Well! That’s Baseball boys! (and girls)
Well said Mitchell. The old man cost us a legitimate shot at this one.
Left Javier in too long, and using Norton in anything other than a 24 inning game is damn near criminal.
September 30th, 200910:16 pm
What was the third base coach thinking? Did MATTY D. end the season free-lancing, or sleeping on the third base bag. DOB, please find out for us.
These past two nights have sucked.
No way the Braves make it or at least it’ll be very tough.
whole new level of suck
Diaz’s baserunning goof is up there near Lonnie Smith’s in Game 6 at Minnesota. Could not think of a more painful end to the playoff hopes
The Braves are the all time worst baserunning team PERIOD
September 30th, 200910:17 pm
That was kinda like Pujols getting doubled up at 2nd by the catch that wasn’t. Except…the Cards get to go to the playoffs anyway.
I feel bad for Matt. Nobody wants to win more than him. Well, us. But other than us. But I mean, as far as the team goes? Nobody wants to win more than Matty.
I’m not going to knock Matt Diaz so much as I’m going to knock the WHOLE BRAVES TEAM when it comes to “knowing how to run the bases”. It’s like a freaking virus that the whole freaking team got this year.
Simply put, that blunder right there is the reason why we are not going to make the playoffs. Not because of that single play……..but because of our inability to run the bases with any intelligence.
I remember last month when Chipper Jones was at third, and Brian McCann at second…..Chipper was in a run down between third and home……Chipper was trying to give McCann enough time to go to third………yet McCann goes back to second, lol.
I’ve never seen a Braves team that made as many blunders running the bases as the 2009 Braves. Yet according to some on here, it’s not the manager’s job to “teach fundamentals or even go over them in practice”. I guess that the only job of a manager is to “stay positive and calm”, lol. If that is the case, Tony Robbins should get into managing, lol.
Isn’t this familiar? All comes back to Chipper’s error and BC’s love affair with Norton
That was just absolutely sickening way to lose. Unbelievable.
The ending was similar to the end of the 2002 NLDS, in that we had a mini-rally going, but it ended with a thud and a confusing play.
Only the Braves, folks, only the Braves
It was a helluva run, but we dug ourselves too big a hole in early September with the 3 game sweep vs Cinci!
September 30th, 200910:18 pm
$100,000 says the Brewers win, to give the Braves more hope…
Something tells me they’ve got a better collapse planned out against the Nationals
Why did he stop!!!
Never, ever, ever have I seen a game end like that before. Wow.
Just…wow. It’s hard to think of a more humiliating Braves moment, ever.
September 30th, 200910:19 pm
Braves have one of the worst teams I’ve ever seen at playing fundamentals, mainly on defense and on the Basepaths….
They make Wayyy too many mental errors as well, and that comes to play big in important games…
Big fun huh?
What a way to end it. Season……in a nutshell.
Lonnie smith was game 7 and that is not even close to this. That literally cost the braves a world series….literally.
Put Matt Diaz on suicide watch.
Matty D you have to run and make them make a tough play at the plate. You were half way down the line my man! OH my …. oh well. How do you recover from that? Rockies will probably win now that they see we just lost. Season over.
Next year will be interesting. Need a LEGIT bat in this order keep the staff together and things will be good. Glad this happened tonight instead of say … MONDAY night vs. the Rockies in the play in game with everything on the line or postseason for that matter.
Sure looked like he could have scored on that pass ball.
NO MORE BOBBY:
THANK YOU. Don’t let the door hit you in the azz on the way out.
September 30th, 200910:20 pm
I agree with all on there about the braves baserunning. Its been piss poor years and i dont understand why.
See you in Spring Training!
Is anyone seeing this, another unbelievable DP in Colorado. Why all of the sudden everything is going the wrong way.
September 30th, 200910:21 pm
I think the Jolly Paul Lentz is gone
I like how everyone is ripping on the Braves being a bad baserunning team, yet McCann’s smart base running and making Uggla throw to first is what enabled that entire inning to even happen.
Some of you idiots have ADD bad.
Matt Diaz sucks. He really isn’t a good ball player. The absolute last thing you can do there is get picked off, and what does the dummy do?? He gets picked off. What a loser.
L’OH il mio dio! Quello era un senso perfetto concludersi la stagione!
Will The Real P-Lenta Plaese Stand Up…!
I was being objective in saying that I didn’t get hyped up because I knew that this team had too many holes to play well in big games on a consistant basis….
And I get bashed for it…Go Figure…?
No, yesterday and today was miracle time. This is time to start planning for next year time.
But hey, its October 1st. Beats the hell out of being out of it in July.
September 30th, 200910:22 pm
Did I just made the last out? I thought we were in the bottom of the 8th, WTF?
What’s strange is . . . Matt Diaz goes harder than just about anyone on this team.
cabravesfan’s computer still out – when asked if I could pass on a comment, she said she had nothing printable to say…
Just wanted to check out what happened, how can you get picked off third base with two outs and you are the tying run? How? What a great comeback for the Braves to end like that. Didn’t get the game just an update on the score. Not really sure I want to know what happened. It was a long shot anyway.
From a collective ATL fanbase, FU Matt Diaz. Skip church and find a strip club you jagofffff………
Paul…We are overall..a very “dumb’ team… It is what it is…
You can’t blame him for stopping halfway. He would have been out probably.
Hate to say it about Martin but I’m not sure he would have gotten a hit. Why haven’t done it at all this year. Why would we start now?
What hurts is that Bobby’s coming back again next year. Probably one of the worst performances by a Hall of Fame manager in a season in recent memory.
At least Chipper has the good sense to know when to hang it up.
Jared….yeah, you’re right. It’s Bobby and Chippers fault that Diaz is a moron. Good call.
September 30th, 200910:23 pm
Here Comes the Matty-D hateration posts…Cheesewhiz people
It was the overpaid millionaires and the mgmt that cost the braves this season…
Don’t rag on Matty-D, Med’s, Nate-Dawg, etc
Jurrjens4NLCY—I’ll take that bet! Cause I just have a feeling that the Brewers will give us one more chance now that we’re moving onto the Nats tomorrow. *fingers crossed*
Still 5-4, Rocks. That’s the only hope the Braves have left now. Anything else is impossible.
It really sucks that this game had to end that way. I think if Matt scores to tie the game, we would’ve gone on to win since bases would still have been loaded.
*sigh* I’m off to bed.
September 30th, 200910:24 pm
What’s strange is, Diaz goes harder than just about anyone on this team.
Can’t believe he froze up there.
LT- A Blogger
Just came across to me- game was like a microcosm of the entire season. Never looked like we had a chance till the very end……then we did……Gaaaahhhhh……
Maybe in Spring Training, if it isnt too much to ask, perhaps Bobby Cox will take a day or two to teach these guys how to run the freaking bases. Freaking mental mistakes. UN FREAKING BELIEVEABLE. I “know” that it isnt his job to teach fundamentals to Major League players (according to some on here)……however, something has to be done. Either the Braves get rid of all the players who cant run the bases correctly (which isnt going to happen)…….or the Braves just accept that these guys will never learn to run the bases correctly and try and win despite base running blunders (this year shows that it wont work)……..or Bobby does his FREAKING JOB (in my opinion) and teach these guys how to run the bases like Major League players (and in the process, give us a better chance to make the playoffs next year).
Why the Rockies aren’t playing the lotto every night is more questionable than Greg Norton’s existence…
Rob in Fayetteville
It always comes down to fundamentals. Always.
This team has lacked them in the most crucial spots ever since the winning began in 1991. How can the cast of characters change and the results always end up the same?? How?
Once again, the Braves’ hopes for “glory” (kinda hard to take that word seriously after this game) are dashed because they look like deer in the headlights whenever the game’s on the line.
There is a constant in all of this, I can’t quite put my finger on it……..maybe some of you more experienced bloggers trained in the art of Braves bashing can help me out.
September 30th, 200910:25 pm
GREAT! Now I get to watch the four games that don’t mean a damm while listening to ROB DRIVEL.
Sometimes I think Braves fans are meant to suffer. How can a game end that way? We have had every type of heartbreak, but this is new low.
I’m just glad we won one World Series. How did we manage to do that? This team has never had any luck in the postseason (Hrbek wrestling Gant, Maldonado catching that ball in 9th inning in 92, double play Belliard didn’t turn in 8th inning of game 4 in 96, Eric Gregg’s personal strike zone, playing the hot team (Cubs, then Astros in 00’s).
We have to improve next year. We’ll win 88 -90 but really aren’t that good. I hope front office is proactive and makes moves we need.
September 30th, 200910:27 pm
Yes, we should quit caring about a bad play, because there was another good play.
See, it all cancels out. Feel better?
Damn, way too many typos…I gotta stop talking to chicks on Facebook and blogging simultaneously
Well the bandwagon full of frontrunners will head into exile and us veterans of the blog won’t see them until Opening day. Too bad we won’t know who they are in 2010 since they only blog about the braves on Opening day and during the games in September…
If the Braves don’t re sign Hudson, I’m am going to be pissed.
If they don’t, he was a waste of 13M dollars that could have been used to get a bat…
If they do, all is well.
September 30th, 200910:28 pm
I do feel for MattE. This is going to eat at him.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
