GIVE EM THE HEATER RICKY!!!
I wonder if the pee guy is awake. He’ll be on here shortly to tell us how the braves always choke, how chipper sucks, and all this stuff we don’t know or care about marlins players. Then he’s sure to mention something about Huddy to DOB and oh yeah, he’ll throw in a note to Jeremy Francoeur’s parents, in hopes that they’re reading this blog.
12 strikeouts! I mean, this is like…even more rare than if Derek Lowe got 12 K’s in one night! that would never happen!
Damn — he’s got second-most conscutive strikeouts ever, only ONE from tying the major league record of 10 consecutive strikeouts by Tom Seaver in 1970 for Mets against Padres, at Shea.
September 30th, 20098:40 pm
September 30th, 20098:41 pm
um let’s go brewers?
12 strikeouts! Its not even the 6th inning!
Undoubtedly the most pathetic big game performance I have ever seen in my life.
actually, being so offensively inept that you allow ricky nolasco to strike out 9 in a row is adding insult to injury.
i can’t say i’m not surprised to see the braves season end this way.
If he breaks the big league record I’m bombing turner field.
I’m going to get drunk….talk to yas tomorrow
“Ask not for whom the Gload tolls. It tolls for thee, Braves. That one hurt.
Funny how the team that didn’t have any pressure on it played its tail off for a three-week stretch to get right back into the race. But when the pressure was on, they soiled the crib.”
That is why I didn’t buy into the hype! The braves played well in the second half but the important series over the last 2 months (mainly against the Big Dawgs, The Cardinals are an exception) they dropped flat…
I got called out when I said that the braves had their chances to show if they were playoff worthy against the Phillies on BSPN 6 weeks ago and blew it
from then on I pretty much knew that they didn’t have it despite finally beating up on AAA teams not named the reds or padres in which they should’ve beat up on in the first half
September 30th, 20098:42 pm
Dude has 13 12 strikeouts in five innings.
McFann…again…I never said Bmac sucked. I am not a “hater” who spews crap when we are playing bad. What I said WAS accurate. We now have great pitching, and Mac has a bad/down year and so has Chip.
Nova Scotia Steve - Fight Like A Brave
I’m with ya Ronnie…
Sheets struck out 20 of us a couple yrs ago…might break that record
As good as Vazques has been all year, Ozzie said he is not a big game pitcher. Do you guys think that is the case?
Or is it that the Marlins just have his number this year?
alright Ricky, we want to see that record. Ole Adam swings at everything eye level, Matty swings at any and everything, and then ya got the pitcher. Should be simple to get 3 more Ks
September 30th, 20098:43 pm
Gutless effort by the Braves. As soon as things got tight, this team went back to playing bad baseball. Unreal.
Alright…STOP IT!!!! OK? Just STOP IT!! I’m SICK OF K’S!!
What…OK, so BMac’s just tryin’ to get to 300 for his career, right? Is that it? Yeah, 300 career K’s is WAY more fun than setting a new career high for RBI, or hitting another–what’s that called again? Uuuummm…DOUBLE! Yeah! That’s it…OK, yeah, I get it…just needs one more K to get to 300.
Yep. I shoulda seen this coming. A bunch of guys in our lineup have really good–great–numbers against this…this PITCHER. But no…not now! Forget it…forget about those homers and uh…doubles and RBI. K’s are fun. K’s are your friends. You want to K. That’s OK. No worries.
This is embarrassing. We will be the laughing stock of ESPN for the evening and probably in the Top 10 for Ricky striking out so many in a row. Way to show up fellas, didn’t know if you know but we are still in a race Braves.
im sorry..i meant to say i can’t say im surprised to see the braves season end this way
September 30th, 20098:44 pm
These are the days when greg norton got a hit during the season of 2009. BOBBY COX FRANK WREN DOESNT WANT YOU LEAVE NOW STOP USING THE JOHN SCHUERHOLZ CARD.
Pathetic Performance by the braves AWFense…
I can’t believe that the kool-aid drinkers thought that this team had a chance in October with this inconsistant Ass Awfense…
Damn I’m gonna get Clowned on the Phillies Forum
I almost wish the Braves had just gone down quietly. Ending the season as it were on THIS type of game is absolutely embarrassing.
Everybody needs to remember that until recently we were chasing the Marlins as well. If they win tonight, they’ll be only 1.5 games behind us for 2nd in the division. And very well could finish with a better record than the Braves.
Not that it makes it easier to accept. But better to get bumped by them, than the Nats imo.
But people are acting like we’re getting killed by a team that is benieth them. Nope pretty much a team in exactly the same boat. Pretty good team with flashes of brilliance, flashes of ugliness, and in the end not quite enough this year to get there.
If I’m the Phillies next year, I’m scared to death of these two teams.
Somebody said earlier that the Fish have become our biggest division rival. I’ve always thought since 97 that they were. They ALWAYS play us tough, even in the years they’re not very good.
With them moving into a new stadium and not looking to sell off players, and with the youth on the Braves and Marlins, I look for them to be the class of the division for the next couple of years.
Just not this year.
September 30th, 20098:45 pm
is anybody at the game? is there something in the air that the rest of us don’t know about .. i mean, JV has 8 Ks thru 5.1 innings!!
I meant they have to lose 2 of their last 6
September 30th, 20098:46 pm
Hmm…whatever. I said it hasn’t been his best year. It’s been a down year, sure. But I think when you consider how it started for him and how he was able to come back from the eye issue, you can’t really call it “bad”.
Just my opinion, though.
September 30th, 20098:47 pm
And Vazquez is still out there? Really?
To me it’s not so much that he’s not a big game pitcher. He has been huge his last four outings. It’s more about Bobby not getting him the hell out of there when he obviously doesn’t have his best stuff. Just like Hudson last night.
There is ZERO excuse to let Vazquez be the one to allow this game to get to 5-0. None. Not one.
September 30th, 20098:49 pm
Lead off triple from the Rox…
can we solve this nolasco guy now?
September 30th, 20098:50 pm
Why blame Vasquez? Yeah he gave up the homer, but if Chipper doesn’t make that damn error, we would still be in the ballgame. That plus 9 straight strikeouts against Ricky freaking Nolasko doesn’t help. I thought the Braves would play this game with a little more intensity-not look like a triple A team.
Rob in Fayetteville
I agree with a previous poster – it seems that Ozzie Guillen was right about Vasquez and big games. He’s getting his K’s, but not much else. Even the outs have been hit hard….
A side note – this may not mean a whole lot (since batting practice isn’t always a harbinger of how teams will hit during the game), but I was at the game last night, and guys like Uggla, Maybin, and Ramirez were absolutely tattooing baseballs deep into the stands during BP (and Uggla and Maybin would homer in the game), while the Braves’ batting practice was rather unimpressive. The way the Marlins are hitting and the Braves (literally) aren’t, it makes you wonder.
Hell if we’re gonna go down in flames, let’s do it in style. Let’s go for 20 K’s, guys…..
Why would the Phillies be scared to death of fla or atl next year?? They plannin on trading Utley, Rollins or Howard in the off season? Phils will be the team to beat again next season and its not really even a question.
Why should there be any different than any other moment of your life?
WAKE THE _______ UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 30th, 20098:51 pm
That is why I didn’t buy into the hype!
Really? Then why has your behind been on the blog every game same as those of us who did buy into this team?
THANK GOD you didn’t let him break a record thats held for 40 F’in years.
What the heck was that?
September 30th, 20098:52 pm
Fans should just get up and leave let the ted empty. I say trade anybody except for Hanson JJ Prado Esco Medlen Diaz and start over.
McFann…we are in accord. I agree that Mac has had a lot to deal with. The glasses thing, the lead-off spot (which I dont he should be in…I think he puts too much pressure on himself) among others. But as i was saying, it was crazy bad luck that one a year we finally put the pitching together along with a great bullpen, we take major steps back offensively, and losing some important production from Chipper and Mac. I am a mcfann, just so you know. He is my favorite player.
September 30th, 20098:53 pm
N8, I think the Marlins are going to trade away Uggla this offseason, because he’s too expensive. And I also don’t think they’ll tender Hermida a contract or resign Nick Johnson. Plus, there is a decent chance that they deem Josh Johnson a player that they need to trade away due to his future contract demands. So they may still be the Marlins. All that said, the reason that they always make their way back is because of how good their player development and scouting is, so you could very well be right in terms of their future.
huh a hit? no way
NO MORE BOBBY
DOB posted earlier this season that the Braves were a tease. Well they waited until the last two weeks of the season to give us their best tease. Right?
Funny how this feels like all the other fall seasons when Braves were so “great”. we come up short again. Nice try though Braves.
September 30th, 20098:54 pm
Why the F is Joe suggesting that Nolasco calm down and make a good pitch here? WTF?
September 30th, 20098:55 pm
Why blame Vasquez? Yeah he gave up the homer, but if Chipper doesn’t make that damn error, we would still be in the ballgame.
Ahh, now I see. If a pitcher serves up a couple of dingers to put his team in a hole, the offense is supposed to pick him up; but, if a guy makes an error behind said pitcher, said pitcher has no responsiblity to pitch around the mistake. That about right?
I’m gonna go ahead and get things going on what should be tonight’s theme song … My vote is “Swingin” by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Poor Kelly Johnson….
September 30th, 20098:56 pm
Norton could redeem himself here with a 6 run homer.
If the offense starts out streaky again next year will the Braves keep TP around or make a move? We wasted a lot of games waiting for some offense this year and picked a horrible time to stop hitting again this series.
Oh hey, it’s Nate’s brother.
Mid Town Joe
September 30th, 20098:57 pm
It’s late yet.
Bobby must smoke some good $hit!
What a surprising turn of events.
September 30th, 20098:58 pm
Actually, Nolasco just tied for second-most. The record book had the NL record (Seaver, also major league record) and the AL record, which is 8. But it didn’t list others. There was at least one other — Peavy had nine in a row in 2007.
NORTON – need I say more
Norton sent up to walk and load the bases, right BC?
LT- A Blogger
Why are we subjected to Norton………….Why?
MZ, should the official band of the Braves be Air Supply? They sure are serving up a lot of air with all those swings and misses (like Greg Norton just did)!
Again, Norton in a big game situation. Did anyone expect different?
Why the hell use Norton here? Geez, we have Infante, Church, Conrad, Johnson all able to pinch-hit….and Donkey chooses Dumbass to pinch hit!!! Grrrrrr!!!!
High heaters to Nate and he can get another one.
is brooks conrad dead?
September 30th, 20098:59 pm
You could hear the booooooooooooo around the planet after Norton fanned………what is it with Cox………..this is beyond stupidity……………. Why are we giving away an out?
7 more k’s in 3.1 and he ties the freaking record wtf?
This sure puts Norton’s consecutive 20 HR season streak in jeopardy.
Somewhere in Buckhead, Jordan Schafer is watching this game on television with a smirk on his face.
make that 6
I didn’t buy into the braves ” Can win the W.C. as well as the braves Can win in October hype”
All that hype did was bring out the frontrunners (Not you of coarse because you’ve been on here for years
I simply put it 2 weeks ago that the braves had no shot after we dropped that 1-0 Hanson game in Houston and then I cited why…
Braves played at their best this year when there was no pressure on them and fold when there is pressure…
Bash me all you want but most fans who stayed away from the team knew this team was at its C… teasing ways again…
Nate is pathetic at leadoff, need to try someone new next year.
This has just been the worst game. We’ve made Nolasco look like Nolan Ryan! I hate the Marlins!!
Just think how…”Due”…Norton will be next year…I look forward to some fantastic PH’ing by Norton next year !!
No strike out record could be .complete without at least one from Norton
September 30th, 20099:00 pm
Hey McClouth, don’t stare at Nolasco as if he did something wrong. It was you that swung and missed, goober.
Oh I know what this is all about…………braves want to close the season in big fashion……..20 strikeouts would do.
September 30th, 20099:01 pm
Can you believe it, NORTON k”d! Who would have thunk it.
Braves now 1-for-18 with runners in scoring position in this series. Adios, October.
Also, Rockies already lead 1-0.
Bringing in Greg Norton was brilliant. This team is choking.
This guy is on pace to tie or break the ML record for K’s in a game. He’s got a 5 plus ERA, for crying out loud!
I not afraid to bet NORTON gets the first pinch hit in 2010. FIRE COX he is a hall ashamer.
Can McLouth hit lower in the order next year?
I actually feel really bad for Greg. Yeah he’s been terrible, but he’s not the one keeping him on the team or putting him up in crucial situations. Now he’s going to bed tonight remembering that thousands of people are booing him.
And dumb ass moves like Bobby Keeping Norton on the Roster during the stretch run let people know that this team was going nowhere this year
Just Imagine if this was the NLCS And Bobby keeping Norton on the roster…
and good sweet prince
September 30th, 20099:02 pm
terrible hitting tonight. This last inning was pathetic. 1st and 2nd with no outs. Need a big pinch hit. Who does Bobby go to? NORTON. Unbelievable. 2 strike outs and a weak fielders choice. Season on the line. Ducks on the pond. Who do the Braves go to? Greg Freakin’ Norton.
If BC gets any votes for manager of the year I’m going to vomit. He and Chipper need to ride off into the sunset together
Tomahawkin, go ahead and say it. In fact, sing it to the tune of the tomahawk chop – “Cho-o-oooke!! Cho-o-oooke!!”
Nolasco tied the Marlins’ regular-season record with 14 strikeouts. Their postseason record? That’d be 15, by Livan, against the Bravos in the 1997 NLCS.
September 30th, 20099:03 pm
i meant: good night sweet prince
OK really – is there any chance Norton will be on the roster next year ?
You can go work on your game notes now, DOB.
September 30th, 20099:05 pm
DOB, I thought you said you took care of the racism.
Well, I can see that the angst will soon begin to flow like a sucking chest wound, LOL, and I see Doc and Tomahawkin are here with some insight, and surely Dentz can’t be far behind, to complete the Axis Of Idiocy. As good a cue as any to take some leave.
September 30th, 20099:06 pm
I’m changing my believe signs to Disbelief.
I just noticed BISHER’s last column was about JEFF FRANCOUER and dated July 16. Is he all right?
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
