I love stuff like this….little aside…Matthew the organist has been playing Can’t You See by the Marshall Tucker band for Jorge Cantu, like he just did. Well he got a text today from someone who found out that the flutist for the Marshall Tucker band was at the game last night and loved hearing it….How cool!
I think Mark Bradley said it best. Fan interest doesn’t change by team performance, there were playoff games during the 14 year run that were not sold out, that to me is just unbelievable.
A florida writer told me Johnson probably won’t go more than five innings. They’ve been trying to protect that arm, coming off Tommy John surgery, and they want to sign him to a multi-year contract too.
A bit too many pitches in that first inning, but that’s been more or less what he’s been doing. Hope he can settle down after this inning — with some runs of support!
On Mark Bradley’s blog today, people that live in Atlanta were using the excuse that they have jobs and Turner Field isn’t exactly convienantly located near their offices and homes. I say BS!

This is very sad, where are those 90s fans
I agree…. I wish the Ted was packed, but it’s not.
I have a prediction, although I doesn’t make me proud to make it;
If the Braves pull off this miracle and make the playoffs….. you’ll be able to buy walk up tickets at the Ted on playoff game days. It’s a shame, but Atlanta ain’t a great baseball town.
I am finished making excuses for poor attendance in big Braves games. I used to say all that stuff, and it is all BS. The truth is, in a town this big, there are precious few hardcore fans.
They’ve been trying to protect that arm, coming off Tommy John surgery, and they want to sign him to a multi-year contract too.
Carroll, I think I read that his agent wanted a contract between that of Sabathia and Burnett when he hits free agency? Realistically, something along the lines of Greinke’s deal would make some sense. Just not sure if Johnson would agree to it.
Hmmm, hope the first inning isnt a sign of things to come. Marlins get runners on and we got lucky they didnt score, we didnt even get a ball out of the infield.
“i think there are fewer people here tonight than last night. So far anyway.”carroll
Sad. Sad. Sad. I’ve said all along, that the team needed to win to bring the fans back in. Which would allow LM to contemplate upping payroll. My take was that with the horrid/mediocre play of the team the past few years, the team didn’t deserve to have big crowds at the games.
In all fairness to the team, and the way they’ve been playing since late June, the city of Atlanta doesn’t deserve this team.
“On Mark Bradley’s blog today, people that live in Atlanta were using the excuse that they have jobs and Turner Field isn’t exactly convienantly located near their offices and homes. I say BS!”-TnBrian
Turner Field and Fulton County have always been in the same place so the location didn’t stop the fans before so I doubt it is now. I keep reminding those out of towners that quite a few metro-atlantans have been affected by this flooding situation. Weekdays during the school year when you are just as much a regional team as a local team has a lot to do with it. It is what it is right now. Complaining on this blog where most of the fans who frequent are diehards isn’t going to help it.
Atlanta has always been a fickle crowd when it comes to the Braves but I gotta say that the current economy and people tightening down on the budgets is playing a big role in deciding whether or not to come out to the TED.
It’s not so much the price of the ticket but add in the cost of parking and even just a single soft drink and a hotdog or popcorn or whatever and your looking at close to 100 buck for 4 people. Not saying it’s a lot but it’s still 100 bucks so…………………
Remember that just b/c you can afford to go doesn’t mean everyone can or will decide to spend their money in that way. It’s not just b/c nobody wants to be there.
