I just had a worrisome thought. Since Hudson just got punked by a collective group that couldn’t score in Amsterdam on Freebie Night, you don’t think he will seek to ease his fraustration by seeking out a sports writer 20 years younger than he is and deriding him in public?

Carroll, How do you feel about a colleague of yours being punked by a pro athlete because he did his job? I would find it discomforting having to get quotes from a guy who misses equivalent of an entire season and yet still has the energy to blame a journalist for the machinations of another athlete. I’m betting Timmy would not have got away with punking you! i’m betting the AJC may have done the right thing by coming to your defense OR failing that I bet a relative or friend would have had something to say.

So Sad!!

Dear Fat Boy and Joe, Hanson is a GREAT young pitcher BUT I really don’t think it would be that out of the question for a guy currently 5th in the NL Batting Race to be Rookie of the Year. By the way, when did you two clowns turn into Larry Munson and The Hawk??

Rock on, I think you have to take payroll into consideration and if Hudson is willing to take a hometown discount which means we can spend more money elsewhere like for the outfield, 1st base, or the bullpen you have to do it. Hudson is still a very good pitcher. My only preference is the strikeout pitcher over another sinkerballer. I hope Wren can find a way to keep them both, but more specifically I hope Wren finds a way to improve this team offensively without having to give up Vazquez who has been great this year.

just got back from the ted, those that were there were into it.

couple of quick observations, the braves have managed by my count one hit in 18 innings with runners in scoring position, and that was diaz’s dinger.

hudson nor kk could seize the momentum. both times we scored they gave back runs in the following inning.

nate seems to have a hole in his swing above his hands.

chipper missed two balls in the ninth that he used to handle.

Fielder GDIP.

To tell you the truth Hudson has had only 1 dominating start, that was against Cincinatti. He has been erratic in each of the others, and getting hammered but with luck, meaning the defense either makes a great play or it’s a rocket hit to Escobar for a double play. Like I said I’d rather have Kawakami, who is already signed for 2 more season and is making considerably less. And being the first Japanesse pitcher to play for the Braves it would look really bad to trade him after just 1 year, in which he pitched okay. That’s my opinion, but I know the most probable thing to happen is that they will sign Huddy to a long term contract, mainly because Bobby loves him, and he is good for the Team Chemistry.

If Hudson leaves the Braves free up 11 million, which they can use to sign Laroche and a couple of quality relievers. And hopefully call up Jason Heyward to be the starting right fielder and move Matt back to left field. The Braves will basicly have somewhere around the neighberhood of 15 million, it depends on ARB raises and possible non-tender candidates(Kelly, and Church). They should be able to resign Laroche and sign two relievers.

The 2010 season that is. The ‘09 season ended a couple hours ago.

Bobby Cox does it again. He’s not insane, we are. Each year we expect a different result but Bobby and the Braves always find a way to disappoint.

That’s an entire decade with one playoff series win. Why is he still here?

He’s doing a disservice to himself to come back. Usually people want to go out on top but that only happens for a select few. Why choose to go out at the very bottom?

He’s still headed for the Hall of Fame I suppose but finishing your career like this can’t help the overall perception of your career.

There is a good base of Braves fans in Atlanta, around 15,000, but far and away the best support comes from other towns throughout Georgia and the Southeast. Disappointing crowd tonight, but not as disappointing as how things turned out.

Cry me a river now. The Braves were just unlucky that they started the Division Series concept during their incredible run. The Braves had the best record in the NL in 92, 93, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 02, and 03. Of course pre-1969 that would have put them in the WS, and pre-1995 would have at least got them into the NLCS all those years (missed 02 and 03).

Woulda, coulda, shoulda. What hurts, still hurts, is the hanging slider to Leyritz. We should have won that 96 WS in 4 or 5 games, we were way better. Hard to believe that Game 2, 1996 WS was our last WS win.

This year’s team is far inferior to those truly great teams of the 90’s. Guess we can’t expect this team to accomplish what those loaded teams could not.

I love Bobby too, but I think we’ll win WS the year after he retires. Like Orioles did in 83 with Altobelli after Weaver stepped down. Sometimes the baseball gods are not fair.

Many of the people who live here are just like you. They are not from here. They are from out of town themselves, with allegiances to the teams from where they came from. Many of them especially are from Northern cities with generational ties and loyalties to the teams in the cities they came from. Are they just supposed to become Braves fans and Believe? Sure, many will jump on the bandwagon when there’s some cool, hip vibe going on with the Braves, but otherwise they are just like you wherever you are and really just don’t care about whatever the local team is doing because they’ve got some traditional familial loyalty to some other team a thousand miles away.

Well, if they make the playoffs or not the braves made a great run these last couple of weeks. Unfortunately for them, they didn’t have a 2007 or 2008 Mets like performance from the team they are chasing. Still time left though but when you are the chaser sooner or later you have to have the team in front of you stumble or you don’t have a chance. The phillies run in 2007 at the end of the season was only great because the mets took a run in the other direction. That would have been just a great run met without a postseason berth if the mets would have actually beat the marlins or nats and simply won one or two more games along the way. Still a great run that the braves went on whether they make it to postseason play or not. Thats all for me tonight.

Right Mike, This thing is not over. The Brewers are 0-4 against the rockies this year. I really, really do not believe the rockies are going to swept the series 6-0. The time is leaning on the brewers to snap out of it and win the next 2. Fielder and Braun are do a great game. Then the rockies have to go west to play the dodgers. The dodgers have own the rockies this year beating them 12 games out of 15 this year. I believe the rockies after tonight will win only 1 more game. That win will be against the dodgers. The set up the braves to win the rest of their games and they can even aford to lose 1 more game which will cause for a 1 game playoff. But the braves need to play to win every game and they will win the playoff spot by 1.

Aside from the previous notes that this line-up has won — what? — 15 of the last 18 games? Aan aside from the fact that this line-up scored four runs last night.

McLouth’s OPB for Sep is .385, and he’s the Braves’ best SB threat. That’s what you want from a lead-off hitter — getting on base and making things happen with his speed.
