Even though the season is over, im proud of this team (minus Chipper). I didn\’t think they would be 15 games over .500. Next season, we will dominate…if Wren knows what hes doin. Go Braves in 2010!
Man we really needed this one
September 29th, 200910:36 pm
I can’t wait to see how empty Turner Field’s going to be tomorrow.
I’m still proud of this team, regardless if they get to the postseason. If Colorado wins their game then I’ll have my doubts about our chances, but I’ve said that before.
Wayne in Utah
Not to overstate something obvious, but some of you folks don’t know dick about baseball……just sayin’
rockies are not going 2-3 after tonights win…. and there is no way in hell we win out. its done. this season was a true improvement compared to last year but if you go back and look at where it all went 0wrong, its obvious….bobby. i could count as many as 10 games that we lost but could have won if we had an average manager…
I never thought i would say this but, CHIPPER JONES COST US THE POSTSEASON
Yeah I can’t believe he gave up those 5 runs. He’s the worst pitcher in the world. And those 10 men he let Mac, Roachy, and Yunel leave on base? God. Retire tonight please.
dont be blaming kawakami, dont forget he has hardly pitched lately and hudson is the one that sucked tonight. dont forget that folks. If not for diaz big hit this is an easy win for marlins. he was only one that did anything
I hate the Marlins. A bunch of Dooshbags. Might hate them more than the Muts and Filthies. Never mind can’t go that far yet.
Yay. Only one more year of Bobby Cox killing the life of the Braves.
Thank you Kawakami!
Hudson was the culprit tonight. But like I said earlier, real tough to continue to get great starting pitching. Sometimes the O has to bail em out. Thought it might happen after the Diaz homer, but alas, it was not to be.
September 29th, 200910:37 pm
hopefully brewers can win
Ouch. That one downright hurts.
However, I still think we have a chance. Even though we’ve lost momentum, we have Vazquez going tomorrow, which is very good, and a sweep of the Nationals is still a real possibility. Have to hope that the Rockies stumble and go 2-3, at best, the rest of the way, which is also a real possibility.
Still have to BELIEVE, Braves fans.
lol Wayne. You crack me up.
too mucch pressure on Hudson, still love him. Guys remember he is coming back from Tommy J. surgery.
Oh, shut up. The ball was hit right to Uggla and Prado wasn’t even halfway to the base when Uggla stepped on it. You want Prado to take a throw between the eyes and then get called for interference?
Nova Scotia Steve - Fight Like A Brave
I can’t even watch the Rockies/Brewers game I don’t think…is anyone else?
Kawakami was a great investment. 8 million bucks for a lousy middle reliever.
September 29th, 200910:38 pm
Wow, Brian Jordan is terrible tonight even by his standards. He literally sounded like Porky Pig there.
And I ableep bleep thought Chipper ableep…
That Barmes “catch” sure hurts! Ouch!
Rockies lead 4-2
I did actually tear up my “Believe” print out that I was going to bring with me to a game later this week. I think it was after Yunel hit the ball right back to the pitcher with two outs.
I can’t believe people actually think Bobby Cox deserves the manager of the year award.
This line-up is ineffective. Lead-off hitter isn’t hitting. Number 3 hitter isn’t hitting. Homerun hitter, batting 7th.
But hell, he’s not hitting either. Bobby Cox is clueless. Loyalty doesn’t hit two run walk-off homeruns.
The team didn’t quit, that’s baseball.
yeah this one is all on hudson
This might not be as bad IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFFFFFFFFFFFFFF the rockies lose tonight…………..if they win……………we are in such a big trouble………
Everbody on here blaming Chipper are a bunch of DBs (douchebags) If you want to blame a player blame Mclouth. The difference in the game is the Marlins #1 hitter and the Braves #1 hitter YOU NEED LOOK NO FURTHER.
Cox was going to pinch hit for Kawakami…if we needed it…maybe he should have done it anyway…
Maybe…maybe…maybe….its hard to say
September 29th, 200910:39 pm
I think I can say with 90% certainty that old chipper would have hit a walkoff in that spot.
I don’t know if Chipper can hit any better next year, time may have finally caught up with him. I think Chipper will be following Bobby out retirements door after next year.
Another day — another loss for the bullpen.
LETS GO BREWERS!!!
The bitches are back!!!
Well, the pitching wasn’t perfect so according to most they sucked. Braves hitting with RISP is what did them in. Outside of Diaz no one else got the hit. They could still be 2 out, games not over in the Rockies. Bounce back tomorrow. Play the schedule out and see where you finish.
He’s sad jeffrey. Cut him some slack tonight.
The A Bomb
Another great effort by the Braves despite TERRIBLE fan support.
Funny on how they fill Coors Field on a school night in Denver.
Why have a $95 million payroll when fans don’t show up?
I feel very sorry for those guys in the clubhouse right now.
The city of Atlanta should be ashamed right now.
Hey Brian Jordan… the Braves have been getting it done with RIPS, you stupid a**!
I’m not hanging this on KK, this is Huddy and the inability of our offense to come through.
Huddy scared me before the game started. Then, everything was “up.”
September 29th, 200910:40 pm
All you idiot morons blaming Kawakami for this loss deserve to be kicked in the face with steel toed boots, HARD!!!! You obviously know nothing about the game and you werent watching the first 5 innings when you boy, your white boy, Hudson, gave up 4 runs, one of the runs coming off the damn pitcher!!!! SO I advise you to STFU before you make yourselves look even more redundant and retarded.
I can’t believe all the people ripping Kawakami, you guys need to get a clue.
So Kawakami gives up 1 run and he’s the villian, but Hudson gives up 4 runs in 5 innings and everything’s a-okay? You know Hudson’s making $14.5 million this season, right?
His name is DANNNNNNNNN UGLLLLAAAAAAAAAAA
and I hate the MF.
Mitchell, the team is 15-3 over the last 18, and have the best record in the NL since june 28th….”clueless” that’s ironic.
September 29th, 200910:41 pm
Enigma – See Wayne in Utah’s comment above..
I just wipped my rear end with me believe banner….but then again it’s not like I’ve given up.
Just didn’t have any TP…
still don’t thinks it quite over yet….it’s very possible the dodgers sweep the rockies
If anyone deserves blame it’s the people of Atlanta for NOT supporting this team when it has played lights out baseball.
What a disgrace.
September 29th, 200910:42 pm
We’re all sad, Soph. Brian can make fun of me if it’ll make him feel better.
Also, I for one am very disappointed that such blatant racism is allowed to be posted here by the same people again and again. Shame on you, DOB and Carroll.
Thanks. I was listening to the game, and figured the yahoos would be out in force around the 8th inning. I was right…..
Chipper sucks. Prado should have taken one between the eyes, Hudson is a SUCK A$$ BUM, Kawakami is worthless, McLouth should be shot, etc. etc etc.
I knew it before I read it!
I think letting KK pitch in such a big game after so many days of inactivity was an unexcusable bad move.
He was rustier than the Titanic……….what was Cox thinking?
You freakin people are unbelievable, the Braves have been playing their butts off to get back in the race, and you’re simply not going to win every game. And yes even though it’s probably over if the Rockies win tonight, they’ve at least made a nice run.
September 29th, 200910:43 pm
Bat – have you seen who it is ripping Kawakami? It’s two people (although probably the same guy) trying to create a stir by acting racist.
The A Bomb,
You got a very good point right there.
You should go give him a hug, jeffrey. That would make him feel better.
The difference in the game is the Marlins #1 hitter and the Braves #1 hitter YOU NEED LOOK NO FURTHER.
How about the starting pitchers?
Like Steve said, just let em be.
I have to admit that I am surprised by this loss. I really expected another miracle and after Matty’s HR didn’t think there was any way this team was going to lose. Have to win out now for sure.
Man I feel so much better now than before.
The past two days I’ve hardly been able to sleep just thinking about what it would be like if we went to the playoffs. I really did believe. I really, really don’t anymore but I think we all knew this would happen sooner or later. Such is the legacy of Bobby Cox.
Sad but true.
September 29th, 200910:44 pm
Make him feel better once he gets a restraining order.
McLouth should not be hitting #1……….Diaz should.
September 29th, 200910:45 pm
Mclouth is really struggling after getting hot right after his DL stint. Chipper had a tough at bat, good pitches by Nuñez who by the way has tremendous stuff. Hope they come back tomorrow and start another winning streak, keep the rockies sweating.
Braves did not hit again tonight, nor did they hit last night!! Diaz was it tonight
I’ll bet the media only has about four videos of Bobby’s postgame interviews and they just replay them.
“Ahh, nobody’ll know the difference!”
It’s always been a long shot folks but it ain’t over yet.
Wonder if any thought was given to bunting Chipper to move Prado to 2nd. I know Cox doesn’t bunt like that often but the DP there should have been taken out of the question. Just seemed like the thing to do there to me. That is not hindsight either simply a move to tie the game at least. Chipper has been lukewarm at that with the bat.
Fine then, I’ll go give him a hug. We’ll be sad together.
KK has an ERA of under 4 as a 5th starter. Why blame him for a loss. This team has improved dramatically from last season. If we can improve on this season we in the playoffs next year. We have made a great run at the end here, is it totally over? no not yet. Don’t start hating on guys just because they might have given up a run or not got a hit tonight. Chill out peeps. We can win tomorrow!! Which might not do us any good, but we can still WIN!!!
White Blood Cells
The game was lost with the 3 and 4 hitters: 1-7, 1 run.
September 29th, 200910:46 pm
I could prolly use a nice hug right now.
“Another great effort by the Braves despite TERRIBLE fan support.”- A Bomb
Please stop it with the fan support crap. Guess what, this isn’t Colorado. The fans that were there were into it. Braves had similar support when they were rolling in the 90’s. It is what it is, didn’t cause them to lose it. Does a full house keep Chipper from GIDP?
Scott from Fairburn
Can we take a collection to send Brian Jordan to the Connecticut School of Broadcasting?
To describe his work as brutal is being kind …
Geeze, Doc…you’re not foolin. Kawakami has pitched 3 times since September 6th. That’s less than once a week.
September 29th, 200910:47 pm
Nate, Chipper, Roachy — 0-10
I don’t know if Brian Jordan takes hugs from random fans was the point I was getting at. But you go ahead and try.
If you want to blame somebody today, blame Hudson for being innefective and giving up two homers, and one to Cameron Maybin that was the difference in this game.
jeffrey d , I have not been following the blog tonight, just say those post and thought, damn what is wrong with these people. Tough loss tonight, Hudson was off just enough to give up a few runs and here we are.
September 29th, 200910:48 pm
Aw, Mixxo I would but you don’t sound like Porky Pig right now.
1st and 3rd…no out for COlorado in the btm of 7th….now i’m definitely going to bed.
Its not over til its over…but this one hurt bad tonight.
Regardless…this has been a fun two weeks…
The Streak had to end sometime, but still…. I was prepared and ready for this loss when they were down 4-1. Diaz tying it up with a blast just gave you the feel that something special was happening. That ended the next inning when KK gave the lead back to the Fish.
Because of the circumstances mentioned above…..it made this loss a bit harder to take.
Now a comment about McCann. He’s good. I like him a lot. He’s a valuable piece who contributes in lots of ways. But…. the bottom line is this ain’t the guy you want at the plate with the game on the line. He will contribute plenty of times to the offense and put you in position to win. Hey, if he drives in 3 and you win that’s great! Just don’t expect him to drive in those 3 in the 7th, 8th or 9th when it’s on his shoulders to make it happen or you lose. Basically all you are gonna see from Mac in those situations is him slamming his bat into the ground after he pops up. I want him on my team, I just don’t want him in the batters box with the game on the line.
I think with every start it’s more evident that Hudson is more expendible than Vazquez going into 2010. Can’t base this judgement on one ineffective start, but Hudson and Vazquez are both building a resume based on their recent performance. Hudson might be a walk away where Vazquez could bring return in trade, but how can you trade the guy who is quite likely your #1 starter this season?

Mitchell, the team is 15-3 over the last 18, and have the best record in the NL since june 28th….”clueless” that’s ironic.
A-ville, we just lost. By one run. Against a third place team. Leaving 9 runners on base.
When does he ever get held accountable by you people? We’ve had overpowering pitching the last week and a half and played two of the worst teams in baseball. Notice the three losses were at home in close games against talented teams. You have to at least understand why some of us would point the finger at him. I hope.
You are so correct. We had 3 gaping holes in the order on this night.
lol, that’s your requirements for giving out hugs.
“Sorry, you have to sound like a character from the original Looney Toons. What? I don’t care if your grandmother died, sorry.”

Jake W @ 10:46 –
Thank YOU. I’m tired of seeing people blame attendance. Like I said before, we’re not going to sell out the Ted this week so people need to get over it. Atlanta is full of out of towners/transplants that moved here for work, etc. They’ll show up for the Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, and Mets but that’s about it.
September 29th, 200910:51 pm
No Jake — I WILL NOT. It’s not crap.
And no, in the 90s they averaged in the LEGITIMATE IN-HOUSE 30,000-40,000 range and there were NOT 28,000 in the house tonight.
Lousy fan support for a team that doesn’t deserve it. You’re right — it’s not Colorado — and those fans are going to enjoy October baseball.
Marlins are a tough team, Josh Johnson is very tough, and they can hit. Their bulpen after Sanchez was outstanding. Coghlan really hurt this team today.
And Hudson wasn’t that terrible. He allowed a homer to someone who has what….32 this season? It happens, people. We’re not the only team in MLB that wants to win games.
Not all the Looney Tunes characters. Just Porky & Daffy. Maybe, Sylvester too.
Cox can't interview without touching dat grande nose.
Wow! Hudson just said “you know” 37 times in that short post game interview
September 29th, 200910:52 pm
Can’t wait to have the whole stadium to myself tomorrow night, thanks to those who are not going to show up.
September 29th, 200910:53 pm
Just Porky & Daffy. Maybe, Sylvester too.
LOL the braves are telling the media that there were 29K at the game they are luck if there was 17K. PATHETIC for the lie and PATHETIC for Atlantas fan showing.
September 29th, 200910:54 pm
It’s amazing how one bad inning within the last couple of weeks brings out all of the “Idiots”. KK has a bad inning and he is called a “Jap”. Chipper has a bad year, but not one “Idiot” calls him a “white trash” or “cracker”. I am so glad that my taxes are being used to educate you Idiots!
You had to know we would get beat by the Marlins the day Johnson pitched. I mean, look at the starters we beat during that 7 game winning streak.
ALmost got beat by Livan, but we beat the bullpen in extras
Just makes sense that they lose to the other teams ace. Thats all the Braves have done over the past 7 games was face the other teams scrap pitchers, the ones that shouldnt even be pitching.
September 29th, 200910:55 pm
Cox can’t interview without touching dat grande nose. Kind of like Allen Iverson saying it’s practice like 40 times………. The A Bomb there were 28,669 ATT, or at least paid attendance. Here’s the link http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=mlb/teams/001/attendance.aspx?team=001
The Box Score,
So what are you saying?
New Generation – They come out before KK pitches. They come out after he pitches well. They’re going to be around regardless. I just wish people would quit biting their bate.
September 29th, 200910:56 pm
Folks tough night for Hudson but again he is pitching primarily to audition for the option. Unfortunately the audition is failing.
I would have bunted Chipper in the 9th.
Tomas… 28,000 was the announced attendance including paid-for season tickets, There were far fewer in the house.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
