I guess I am a selective racist, huh. I call out Escobar for being a drama queen, and so I am a racist. I guess I should quit showing my appreciation for folks like Vazquez, Jurrjens, Prado, Eddie Perez and Fredi Gonzalez.
Jose “Connie” Chung, why don’t you go back to licking your boyfriends’ backside, Paul Dunce, the SUCK ASS blog BUM.
Wait a minute, you are probably Paul! Is that your way to get outside of yourself, and rip on a few of us??? If you are not Paul, then you are probably Paul’s boyfriend (not that there is anything wrong with that!)
If you are getting ticked off because Matt Diaz does what he does, your starting to sound like a dip sheeted fantasy baseball fan.
Who the hell did you think Matt Diaz was??? Willie Frickin Mays? He’s 4th outfielder, Matt Diaz. He of killing teams, and alternately looking like sheet an at bat or two later.
46 pitches through 5 innings. A complete game would be FANTASTIC. It would allow our bullpen to completely rest today, just like the Rockies are doing today with their off day.
We need the offense to score a few more runs, and the Marlins to keep swinging at the first pitch.
I don’t know if this has been mentioned but another “edge” the Braves have regarding the schedule this week is that the Braves play earlier than the Rockies every day but Thursday. If we win or are ahead, the Rox have to feel pressure.
Agreed Diaz can look lousy twice or three times in a row then line on off the right field wall but his last at bat was one where you need to at least get the bat on the ball.
Just curious…do you people NOT think that Diaz could learn to be just a tad more selective on his pitch selection? It seems some of you think it is NOT possible… that he could actually learn the strike zone (or at least something closer to it)… and become an even better hitter…I just don’t think he is doomed forever… to swing at all the crap he swings at…live and learn I say…
I hear what you’re saying, but I don’t think Diaz should change his batting strategy. What he does works. It looks pitiful when it DOESN’T work, but again you’re getting a trade off.
Yeah we’ve seen what happens when you mess with someone’s approach or swing. Sometimes it works, but we’ve also been burned by that kinda stuff in the past.
by the way, Chipper’s HR moves him into a tie for 40th all-time with Billy Williams at 426. He needs two more to reach 20 and become the first major league player to begin his career with 15 straight 20-homer seasons. It would break the tie he shares with Eddie Mathews at 14 straight.
Evening, all. Just got home but was listening to the game off and on between errands after a meeting. Good to know we’re ahead 3-0 in the 5th. Looks like JJ is dealing tonight.
If Bobby Cox can do goofy things but still be considered a great manager because of his success then Matty D can swing goofy and still be a great hitter because he hits .300 for a career right?
The city of Atlanta should be ashamed of itself for the turnout tonight at the Ted. If I’m Liberty Media, I check into moving this team some place else.
Just because they’re playing the Marlins, doesn’t mean they have to act like Marlins fans.
Is this a playoff race or the final two spring training games that are always played in Atlanta? Sad.
For all the crap Bobby AND the Braves get for not winning more than 1 WS…I say this
Ya know, it’s tough to get to the playoffs, year after year after year after year…etc, etc, etc. To do it 14 straight times is quite an accomplishment.
Do I think they could’ve, should’ve won more than 1 WS? Yeah, sure…but to be there to have a chance to do it 14 straight times is quite the feat.
I mean, look at the Cards and Tigers from 07. Did they make it back to the big show in 08? No
So many chances to put this game away and yet, its still 3-0, while I am happy we have the lead, I dont feel that it is safe, not with this Marlins team.
N8, the problem is, for me anyway, I live an hour outside of Atlanta and have to get up at 5 a.m. to get ready for an hour plus ride to work. So, even if I were free on Monday night, it would be really, really hard for me to go and stay for an entire game. I hate leaving in the 7th in order to beat the crowd out, but if I don’t do that, I don’t get home until about 4-5 hours before I have to be up again. Can’t do that anymore. Getting older sucks
Oh, and when hubby and I were looking at moving to either Decatur or East Atlanta, I had plans to be at as many home games as possible if I were living only a few minutes from the Ted. Alas, too damn much crime down in that area for my tastes, so we’re staying put for now.
I can’t believe this $***. This is one of the best pitching performances in baseball history. It should be 12 to nothing.
How f***ing hard is it to hit the ball when he puts it right down the middle? You don’t have to even be selective. Either it’s over 6 feet above the plate, a foot outside or right down the middle.
I’m NOT hatin’ on Diaz…I just refuse to believe a major league hitter is doomed to swing at the pitches that Diaz so often does…I have to think he has enough mental capacity to be more selective…without it ruining his “swing”…I actually have NO problem with that “crazy” swing of his…don’t change it…just tone down that “crazy” eye of his….it IS doable…
You know I’ve seen it hundreds of times but I never really thought about it until tonight – does anybody know the significance of what Chipper does with his hands on the way back to the dugout after he hits a homerun? He’ll extend his thumb, index, and pinky fingers.
N8, yeah, they should be ashamed. There’s what, 25,000 there right now? I watched that Colorado game and there wasn’t an empty seat there. They were in to every pitch, and even though the waving the white towels thing is dumb to me, they show their love for their team.
You’ve had your days, too! And it’s been almost 2 weeks since BMac’s last double…his doubles go on the DL more than Hampton does these days.
It is about your boy, though…all I’m asking is, the next time BMac comes up with the bases, that he doubles instead of grounding out. Too much to ask? I think not…
Course, I’d take a double in ANY situation right now…

However, he has been known to have 2 or 3 ugly at-bats in a game, only to come back and get a hold of one late in the game.
