The latest PECOTA projections have the Braves at 89.6 (90) wins and the Rox at 91 wins…with us having about a 20% chance at the WC right now. It says the average wins per WC winner is 91…so 5-1 from here on out should be enough to tie, I’d imagine (hope).

Very important victory for the Braves tonight… Braves need to keep it up. The Rockies/Brewers series is interesting since it is Colorado. The Brewers could easily score 10+ in ever game…and give up just as many.

Wooooohoooo! Just got back from the frozen tundra of Turner Field (not that bad, but a little chilly at the end). What a night, great job by the fans that made it out, everyone was into the game till the end.

After the game Bobby Cox said JJ had had some issues with command of his changeup….
“He really didn’t have his normal command of the ball tonight,” Cox said. “It was the first night we played in a little bit of cold weather. They rubbed up with that mud and they were slick. It was slick for Sanchez too. (His ball) kept going up and away. But (Jurrjens) has always had a knack for if he does get in trouble he rares back and gets that little extra, that 93, 94 fastball. He struck (Hanley) Ramirez out on a great fastball down and away.”

“It was a lucky day,” Jurrjens said. “I didn’t have a feel for my changeup the whole game, which made it a little difficult, especially when I wanted to throw it for a first-pitch strike. I was falling behind. I needed to groove some fastballs down the middle. I was lucky the wind was blowing in and got away with some.”
Then you have Chipper’s interpretation, which is more like what I saw:
“It seemed like JJ was going to make it stand up all night,” Jones said. “He got into trouble a couple times and really didn’t have much trouble getting out of to be honest with you. It just looked like he was in complete command all night. When he did get in trouble, he just beared down a little bit more and made the big pitch.”
I think I got lucky a little bit too. The wind was blowing in I got a couple deep fly balls to center field. I made my pitches when I needed to and go out of some jams. I was trying to keep my team in the game and keep the ball down.

Alright, so this is a VERY unlikely scenario, but what happens if:
1) Braves go 6-0 over this next week
2) Phillies go 2-4 over this next week (tying the Braves for 1st place in the East)
3) Rox go 4-2 over this next week (tying the Braves/Phils for WC lead)
Are there two separate play-in games (one for the east, then one for the WC)?

Brave attendance is always miserable. Such great teams, such a beautiful stadium tremendous and in the midst of great hot streak in which they’re chasing a team to get to the playoffs, and only 25,045 people go to the stadium. My god.

Can’t really compare Atl attendance with Rockies attendance, this is all new for them and they have had the WC lead forever, We are just trying to sneak in the back door. We have been there and done that 14 times! Another thing too is the Ted’s location. While I have always felt safe going to the games,a wrong turn here or there could put you into a place you really don’t want to be very quickly. I lived in Dallas for awhile and attended several Ranger games, Very nice park, out in the middle of a field all by itself and very safe feeling.

The answer to your question about a three way tie between the Phillies, Braves and Rockies, is as follows. The Braves and Phillies would have a playoff game for the NL East Title, and then the loser of that game would play a one-game playoff with the Rockies to determine the wildcard winner. In both cases, the Braves would host both games

Sportscaster pretty sure you are mistaken. The Braves have won tiebreaker with the Phils (head to head matchup), which means the Braves win the division. Which leaves the WC between the Phils and Rockies.

You guys are worried way too much. Take it from someone who knows way more about the Florida Marlins than Fredo Gonzalez–That would be I–Johnson has not been the same for awhile and he is only pitching to get a 25,000 bonus for getting 2 more starts(something he soon won’t have to worry about!!) and Nolasco will be the early season Ricky. The Braves are winning last 6–rather easily– and the Rocks will lose 3 of last 6. Braves won’t even need an extra game.
Now, I HOPE I’m wrong, but this schedule is just aligned too well for a team that now has best starting pitching in baseball. The inevitability of this is crushing for someone who views the Braves the same way I view the Reverand Mark Richt on the Georgia sidelines.

Sportscaster is right about the tiebreaking scenarios for a three way tie. I remember Olney writing about it the last couple years as the season came down the stretch.
Eric, I think what you’re thinking of is when two teams tie for the didvision but both have clinched a playoff spot either way. In that case, the team with the head2head advantage gets the Div. crown and the loser in h2h gets the wild card and loses any chance for home field advantage.

“Moving on up” by uhhh….. Jefferson theme song (perpetual moving)
“The Final Countdown” by Europe… Or Asia (counting)
“Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey (Believing)
