Of course, we’d have to have a limit on the number of Loaf costumes. Otherwise it’d be all Garret Andersons.

No reason not to win out or to belive they can’t. Pitching is just too good. It’d be nice if they could hit the damn ball every once in a while.

Brother and Sister Bloggers.

Usually about this time of the year I go on vacation for a couple of weeks. It seems the further I go the better the Braves play. I left for PAris on the 19th and just got back. Am I to understand the Braves went something like 8-2? I would guess Kelley Johnson hit about .450 during that time. Can someone give me just a quick synopsis of the last 10 days, and who(m) have been the heroes. I don’t even know what happen tonight yet. I know we were ahead 3-0.

Hope all is well down there. It may the news in Paris about the disasterous flooding you were having.

Home Of The Brave

If the Twins make it into the postseason, it will be amazing. But if the Braves make it, it will be downright historic.

This team was 8½ games out in the wild-card race with 21 games left in the season. And now, with seven games to go, these same Braves are only two out in the loss column.

Atlanta Braves

So if they can stampede back this week to overtake Colorado, the Braves will go down in history.

The Elias Sports Bureau reports that before this outfit came along, only one club in history — the 1964 Cardinals — had ever been 8½ games back in September and lived to make up that entire deficit and play a postseason game. So the Braves would tie that record if they win the wild card.

But the last date on which those ‘64 Cardinals were 8½ back was Sept. 5, when they still had 27 games to play. So the Braves would be the first team to trail by that many games as late as Sept. 11 on the calendar, and with just 21 to play on the schedule. Oh, and one more thing: If they somehow blow by the Phillies and win the NL East, they’ll own all these records unto themselves, since they were a whopping nine games behind the Phillies after games of Sept. 9.

The Braves have made up this ground by going 14-2 over the past 2½ weeks, with both losses coming against Philadelphia last weekend. The Braves finish the season with three home games against Florida (the Marlins are 4-2 at Turner Field this season) and four at home against Washington, a team they’re 5-0 against in Atlanta and 9-4 against altogether.

If we could just pull even within the next two games, then i dont care what the team does, as long as it keeps pace with the Rocks, meaning, if after we pull even and the Rocks win, we win, if they lose, i dont care if we lose. As long as we can force a 1 game playoff, i feel pretty good about our chances in that game as our starting staff is so deep. It looks like Vazquez would start that one game playoff as well, and I like those odds.

I was disappointed to see so many empty seats on TV with the Braves making this run. Those that were there made a lot of noise and were great fans – we just need more there.

The Braves still need to do better making themselves available to fans pregame and postgame than they have done. A signed ball or a picture taken with a fan, especially someone’s son who is a fan would go a long way to making a fan, a dedicated, rabid fan

Still a two tough games remaining:

Can’t underestimate Josh Johnson, whose been sick. A sick pitcher can usually pitch their best on those days. And Nolasco can be night and day in any start.

Just like JJ tonight, pitching will be big. Huddy needs to keep getting better and Javy still needs to keep doing what he’s been doing.

Only thing that needs to change is scoring with runners in scoring position, it could have easily cost them the game if JJ didn’t do such a great job when he put runners on.

Have to admit I thought Braves were done weeks ago. This is just an amazing stretch run. I became a fan in 1970 (Rico Carty .366) and this is really only the 5th pennant race since then. 1982, 1983, 1991, 1993 we were within 3 games of the lead heading into final week. Most years ATL won division they were comfortably ahead heading in, and last 3 years obviously not close.

If we can just get in….there would be zero pressure on us during the NLDS. So painful 2002 through 2005, with 100 win teams in 02 and 03 losing to vastly inferior teams, and 04 and 05 cheesy losses to Houston. I have little doubt we would beat LA in the NLDS. I think we also can handle STL, not sure about the Phillies. But isn’t it great to be consumed like this, with 6 games to go? Go Braves! Go Brewers!
