See! Yahoo is slow. It still has it 4-3.
TnBrian(Vazquez ace 2010)
Ludwick– thank you very much.
September 26th, 200911:02 pm
its getting fun
Man oh man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Playoffs here we come………………
2 back in the loss column.
Jurrjens4NLCY - Fight Like A Perpetual Moving, Counting, Believing Brave
MAN he got ALL of that ball!
Steve from OH………I feel that in today’s game, many managers “coddle” their pitchers. 120-125 pitches is not “too many” pitches for a pitcher to throw in a game. I would much rather see a starting pitcher want to go as far as he can in a game.
Wrainwright isnt a rookie. He’s shown that he’s a workhorse. LaRussa simply managed his A$$ off that inning. While most managers would have brought in the lefty Miller to pitch to Giambi……….LaRussa accessed the situation and felt that Wrainwright was his best option.
Meanwhile……….YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Big time pinch hit homer there by Ludwick.
Oh how the Braves can only dream of having a pinch hitter who can hit homers……….well, we did have a 3 run pinch jack from Brooks Conrad, which helped us beat Washington earlier this year.
3 more outs by the Cardinals, and we’ll be 2 games out in the loss column.
urr-verybody? I like that jeffrey.
Rob from SC
Morton ha the stuff, but does he have enough between the ears. He seems to get rattled easily. Jo Jo Reyes like
September 26th, 200911:03 pm
st louee just scored 2 in top of 9th lead by 3 over rocks
How sweet was that!!!!!
2 point 5!
2 point 5!
2 point 5!
I hear ya Soph….this is the first time I’ve been able to watch the Rockies play. Every other night the past few days I just had to keep refreshing on Yahoo. They seem to get slower late in the game for some reason.
Steve from OH
glord–I still like Morton too. Don’t know if he’ll ever be “good” in a #2 starter sense, but I think he’ll stick around in somebody’s rotation for a while barring injury. Can’t say I’m nearly as high on Gorkys. 4th OF IMO.
richbrave……….you’re killing me with your support of Charlie Morton. Dude’s a BUM who SUCKS A$$.
He reminds me of Pete Smith. Decent arm but cant pitch.
September 26th, 200911:04 pm
You people from ATL better fill up the Ted this week…I don’t care if it’s football season and school is back in…We’ve got a pennant race…
Ludwig Von Homruntovan
rock on CARDS !!
Thanks…it took me a few times to spell it
HOW BOUT DEM CARDS!
September 26th, 200911:05 pm
This is great.
Hopefully, the Cards won’t celebrate too much tonight, and will come back and find a way to win another tomorrow.
Rob from SC–I don’t think you have it between the ears either if you think Smoltz is gonna throw the game tomorrow just to stick it to the Braves…
September 26th, 200911:06 pm
Ok, you guys have to update me on each play. Thank you.
Exactly my point about LaRUSSA. He considered his started the BEST option in that circumstance. What’s the CARDS bull-pen like anyway? And BTW, he was not good while here as a player.
September 26th, 200911:07 pm
Franklin going to make this interesting
BTW Lentz that pinch hit homer was by a regular starting outfielder so can’t really compare him to Norton no matter how much he sucks
September 26th, 200911:08 pm
At best, Charlie Morton will be a 5th starter/spot starter/long relief type. I was simply AMAZED that Frank Wren was able to give up garbage to get a good centerfielder/lead-off type hitter with some pop in his bat with a VERY PAYROLL FRIENDLY contract.
We will not miss Morton at all.
Soph – single off pitcher’s foot to leadoff
Steve – I am not one of these guys that says I know a guy that knows a guy ……. But I was told by someone that inside the Braves that they projected Morton as a #3 started and was the key piece in the Mclouth trade.
Are we really arguing over Charlie Morton?
Hey, let’s fight over maple/ash bats next!
September 26th, 200911:09 pm
I need Anders to verify what that noise is. Rob from SC
Should we start a man-hunt for Anders?
So glord—Sounds like you are saying you are the guy that knows a guy…
Boy, GONZALEZ killed numerous worms and blades of infield grass on that one.
I am not going to celebrate the Cardinals until this game is over. There is also another game tomorrow for the braves and for the Cards.
Already one on base for the Rox
let’s go cards …can’t let this one get away …
Personally, I like the pink bats they used for Mother’s Day. But, that’s just me.
Smith pops up to 2B. 1 on 1 out
glord–sure, I believe you. Got no reason not to. CM’s got the stuff. Just needs a little more experience.
September 26th, 200911:10 pm
1on 1 out for Col
I smell 2.5 games outta this thing
one down …helton up …scary
how about a double play here to end the game
Dos mas cmon!!
September 26th, 200911:11 pm
Penn State about to go down…and Notre Dame…What a great sports day…
I really like the pink bats/arm bands for Mother’s Day too. It’s a real nice tribute for a good cause.
I’ll bet Lentz is against it.
Well PAUL since its you, I’ll file that comment in it’s appropriate file.
September 26th, 200911:12 pm
fudge … tying run at the plate.
Tying run comes up…1 out…
Mark- something like that. What I am saying is that I was told that both the Braves and the Bucs thought Morton had that kind of potential and the Bucs really liked him. He was going to be part of the Bay trade.
tying run to the plate
Todd Helton Walks, 1 Out, 2 On… Tulowitzki is up as the tieing run.
That was funny.
oh no …. two on for Rockies
This is freakin intense, and our team isn’t even playing!!!
September 26th, 200911:13 pm
Come on CARDS GET THE DAMM DP
Gil In Mechanicsville
Cards bullpen is why they can be had…
da@n walked him …2 on 1 out
C’mon Cards, double-play ball.
God, I LOVE baseball when it’s late September and it MEANS something for the Braves.
crap, c’mon Franklin
richbrave……I could care less what type of player LaRussa was. He’s a freaking manager now. Dude simply manages his A$$ off.
In the 1991 play-off series against the Pirates, Jim Leyland out managed Bobby the first 5 games of that series. However when you have Steve Avery and John Smoltz pitch back to back shutouts in Games 6&7……..that can overcome pretty much any deficiency a manager brings.
In 1996, LaRussa out managed Bobby the first 4 games of that series. However, Maddux, Smoltz, and Glavine were dominating in Games 5,6, & 7 to send the Braves to the World Series.
My point all along has been……..when has Bobby Cox managed an inning like LaRussa did in that bottom of the 8th inning? Certainly not at any time this year. Bobby either manages “by the book”……..or by sticking with his favorite players.
Why did Charlie Weiss pull Claussen earlier for another QB
O.K. let’s fight!!!! The bugs are killing all the Northern ASH. We’ve gotta’ use MAPLE. We have no choice.
Dammit, Franklin. End it…now! I command you.
September 26th, 200911:14 pm
Oy Vey!!! Cmon Franklin
I can’t stand Claussen (sP?). He’s on my list.
That massive goatee’s gotta be good for something
Cmon Franklin. Man Tulo scares me is this ballpark.
September 26th, 200911:15 pm
WillinVa…………I know that Ludwick is a regular.
How about comparing Norton to Matt Stairs? While Stairs is batting .202…he does have 4 pinch hit homers this season. Norton? A big ZERO.
The Bay trade…it was Locke, Morton, Concepcion Rodriguez and someone else (can’t remember who), wasn’t it?
Kinda tells you what the Bucs think of Jeff and Charlie…
I’ve already let it become 2.5 games in my mind…They better not blow it now!
Braves Challenge …. I am an out of town Braves fan that only can make it to one or two games a year. It is soooo disappointing to see soooo many empty seats at Turner Field … I challege all you local fans to be at the games next week and fill those seats up and cheer these Braves into the playoffs.
September 26th, 200911:16 pm
1st and 3rd 2out
Franklin gets out Tulo…
FC, runners at the corners, 2 out.
I don’t care what kind of manager La RUSSA is. He sucked as a player and team-mate. Them’s fightin’ words. Hey sscribe, put a -30- on this guy and finish him off will you!!!!
Troy Tulowitzki hits into a force out. Runners on 1st and 3rd. 2 OUT! Ian Stewart up.
Not sold on Locke at all
Rob he does have turf toe don’t know if thats why he got pulled but I know there were unsure if he would be alright for the entire game
damn penn st and ND really suck …hahaha

September 26th, 200911:17 pm
The Cards are doing us a solid tonight. You know, I am starting to believe the Braves have a shot at this. I think the series against Florida is going to be huge. I think sweeping the remaining 4 games from the Nats is possible because right now they are the worst team I have seen in quite a while but the Marlins are a very good team. Taking 2 of 3 from them is crucial,
Mark, it’s 2.5 in my head too!
Bama sucks too…War Eagle…
Steve – Maybe but it also tells you the Bucs liked Locke and Morton alot to ask for them twice.
Tulo takes 2nd on fielder indefference, And Stewart ground out. GAME OVER
2 point 5!
Game over woohoo
Ballgame! We’re 2.5 out!
And the Cards seem really happy for us!
September 26th, 200911:18 pm
Lugo almost threw that away.
Whew… Braves 2 1/2 back with 8 to go
glord1………..whoever your “source” is on Charlie Morton being projected as a #3 starter is being overly optimistic. Dude’s a BUM. Simple as that.
While there is a chance that he can develop at the ML level with the Pirates……the Braves simply could not afford to let him SUCK A$$ at the ML level for a couple of years while he learns how to pitch. We are trying to win games NOW.
2 out in the loss column.
YES!!!!!! 2.5 out!
Adam gets his 19th!!!
It’s on, Braves Nation!!!!!!!!!!
Might have spoken a little soon on the ND game
Mixxo, don’t laugh at his jokes. He thinks Joe Cox is cuter than Dixie.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
