keylargo………we just disagree on the value of on base percentage. I’m not saying that OBP isnt valuable. I’m saying that it isnt the overriding factor.
Batting average, slugging pct, and RBIs, and runs scored also are important stats as well. Greg Norton is batting .200, slugging .200, knocked in 2 runs, and scored 1 run since the All-Star Break more than override Norton’s .385 OBP since the Break.

If Greg Norton could run or play some defense…..then him having a decent OBP would be tolerable. However, the ONLY thing he can do is work the occasional walk. Given the fact that he cant hit anymore, he simply is a waste of a roster spot.

Baseball America started its Top 20 prospect rankings for each league this week, starting from lowest leagues and moving up. They’re doing one every day or two, and have covered three leagues so far. Of those three leagues, the Braves have the top prospect in two — catcher Christian Bethancourt was rated No. 1 in the Gulf Coast League and right-hander Julio Teheran of Danville was No. 1 in the Appalachian League. (The other top 20 was from the Arizona League; Braves don’t have an affiliate out there, obviously)

McCann has proven too prone to passed balls, particularly down and to his left. He needs some more defensive work in the offseason. Helluva throw to nail Orr, though. And now a base knock. Nice work.
